It is my regret that I had to give this Red Star Yeast a bad review
3/5

Red Star Yeast has always been of superb quality and very reliable in my experience, and I'm terribly sorry to have given them a poor review. In order to make Easter buns, I recently purchased these. When the buns arrived, the first thing I checked was the expiration date, and it said "sometime in 2020. ". I had this nagging feeling that I needed to proof it before adding to the dry ingredients, and when I did I got a refund, which I used to order another jar of Red Star quick rise yeast, and it worked beautifully this time too.

A flat property
3/5

Because my yeast didn't bubble, I had to throw it out. I wonder if it had something to do with the package I received. Returning the item is not possible due to its small size. We received our order in a timely manner.

This is a great program
5/5

The best part of it all The pieces don't stick to the packet! Although I have used Red Star dry yeast before, most local supermarkets only carry the other major brand. It used to be that the stores would run out of yeast frequently, but this pandemic has caused all of the stores to run out. Recently, I purchased two strips of Red Star Quick Rise Instant Yeast from this seller on Amazon, and used them to make a couple of traditional family recipes for Italian and Slovak Easter breads, both of which contain large quantities of cheese, and do not rise well. Red Star yeast also worked well and both breads rose nicely. One thing I have always appreciated about Red Star is that the yeast does NOT stick to the packet, unlike that of another major brand. I also know that I am getting the full measure of yeast and I recommend that you give Red Star a try if you have never used it before.

My gluten-free dough did not rise
3/5

I used the Master Recipe from "Gluten Free" You don't have to proof modern yeast as long as the product hasn't expired yet. "Free Artisan Bread" says you don't have to proof modern yeast. In this package of yeast, the expiration date I mentioned above how you make enough for 4 loaves of bread using the master recipe I provided. How's this for a surprise? Because the yeast was faulty, I lost the organic flour mixes I needed for 4 loaves of bread due to this defective yeast product.
I tested the last packet (I used two) and proofed it, but nothing happened in warm sugar water. Therefore, it was a perfect storm of both the book saying not to proof it and the yeast not being active.

I use this yeast for my everyday baking
5/5

I use a bigger package for a bigger batch. I can use these individual packages when I am away from my kitchen or when I am visiting my sister or mother. The perfect product for traveling and for using on your own. When adding to foods or making sponges, there is no need to measure. It is recommended that you use this yeast and package.

I had a poor experience with this product
3/5

This yeast failed to The plastic packaging and delivery via US Postal Service (slow) might have contributed to the product being in direct contact with too much heat, which caused it to die.

There is no specific mention of gluten-free on the package
3/5

Amazon indicates it is gluten free in the product description. Despite the fact that the packaging doesn't specifically mention gluten free, it may seem to be. In all, I spent over $5 on one single strip of three packets of chips. The desperate search for gluten causes you to eat gluten painstakingly. There is no specific marking on these so there is no reason to risk it. Returning items for under $6 will not be worth my time since the store has added at least 50% to the price.
