I didn't like this corn bread because it was too coarse. I plan to refine the batter with a food processor after I make the next one. This just gives the bead a gritty mouthfeel, which is not very good.
Cornbread is one of my favorite foods! After that, I just threw out three bags of corn meal of different brands. What's the reason? I think corn meal should taste like corn, because, silly me, I believe There is no yellow tint to this corn meal. Bob's corn meal does not contain yellow tints.
Tonight, I made corn fritters and they tasted like chemicals. We have used all the other ingredients lately, so this was the only one we had. behalf of the company, every other product they have provided me has been great. The cornmeal I used was not edible because of some kind of problem.
The store I work at only carried the regular Bob's Red Mill cornmeal, not the gluten-free No charge. My stomach is so grateful to find this information so I can make all the corn muffins or corn bread I want without risking You can soak the cornmeal in milk (or the liquid equivalent in your recipe) for a few minutes before adding the remaining ingredients if you find that it is too gritty for baking.
The cornmeal I am eating is delicious. Despite the coarse grinding, it is still quite good. There is a distinct corn flavor to it. One of the cons is that it does not appear as "non-toxic" There is no organic or GMO label on this food. Other organic brands have a poor taste.
I have used 1/3 white wheat flour and it was fine. Cornmeal makes up two-thirds of the blend. Also, use baking powder without aluminum, such as Bob's RM baking powder. Put stevia in your tea to sweeten it. Olive oil is an excellent addition.
I am glad I found it. The cornmeal is very nice, and it was packaged well. We often make cornbread at my house since someone in our family suffers from gluten intolerance. I appreciate how well this cornmeal works in cooking and that it is It will not go bad because the package keeps it from going bad before it is used.
The gluten free cornbread recipe would work fine for a finer texture or for a cornbread that's meant to be egg free. This brand does not work with Italian polenta mush or grits. If you want grits or a cornbread with country flavor, stick with the coarse ground. My taste has been fine, however the texture has been completely off for a gal who grew up south of the Mason-Dixon line. The method might work for pancakes or corn johnnycakes.
It has been days since retail stores have been open since COVID struck, so finding this on Amazon was a nice surprise. I was amazed at how fresh the product was. Bob's new packaging has a zipper closure that I appreciate.
