Even after a year or two of daily regular use, the flax seed has not spoiled or decayed. We mix flax seed with herbs in pillows and microwave them for a few minutes almost every day. I've bought at least 100 - the only pillows we've lost were due to an operator error of overheating in the microwave! This flax seed is 150 pounds, and I highly recommend it.
This is whole grain flax seed, and yes, it can be sprouted. I realize that these questions have been asked before, but as a manufacturer, we have only recently been able to respond.
I am not the owner, and I have no idea who is!
We keep it in the large bag it came in and then put it in our second refrigerator simply because it is open and not because it requires refrigeration to stay fresh. I also keep this item in a storage room in an unopened bag. We go through it a few pounds at a time because we are a small gluten-free business. Company that specializes in grain-free baking. Simply look up how long a whole flax seed takes to go rancid. I hope this has been of assistance.

I had to drive an hour just to get this from a health food store. Flax seed is one of my favorite ingredients, and I use it in everything except beverages. There's no need to buy chemicals if you want to stay'regular;' flax seed will suffice. It will take some getting used to if you are a first-time user, but the health benefits will be well worth it. I'll admit that 25 pounds of flax seed is a lot, but if you eat it on a regular basis, it will keep you going for a long time. I bought it on March 26th, and it's now December 26th, so it's been 9 months, and I use it every day in everything, and I still have plenty left. I like that I can order it and save money and time by not having to go out and buy it. It is also much less expensive this way. You do not have to grind it; you can eat it whole or grind it if you want to. I use it in its whole form almost 100% of the time and I don not% I've found very little chaff mixed in with the grain, if any at all. I am extremely pleased with both the product and the company, Great River.
I've signed up for this service, and every other month I'll receive a bag. I'm feeding it to my chickens and goats to supplement their diets with more healthy fats. My chickens adore it, and I'll occasionally throw them a handful as scratch; my goats, on the other hand, have varying tastes for flax, but they all eat it. I divided the bag into one lb zip-lock bag and two lb zip-lock bags. Keep it fresh by locking it up and storing it in a dark, cool place.
Our hens who prefer the flax seed seem to lay eggs with a deeper yellow yolk although I am not 100% sure Knowing that they eat a lot of flax in their diet makes it easier for me to justify eating egg yolks and drinking goat cream in my morning coffee: )br>br>Perhaps I'll send my goatmilk fudge to the lab to see if it's high in good fats so I can convince myself that my extra dark chocolate goat milk fudge is actually a health food? br>br>In conclusion - It's a fantastic source at a reasonable price, and it's delivered fresh and clean!.
Because bugs developed in my previous great river organic millet, I've been using it in my morning smoothie on a regular basis. I can't speak to the flavor, but if it's on sale, I'll pick it up.
It's something I enjoy doing, something my chickens enjoy doing, and the eggs are out of this world. It might take some time for the chickens to eat it. Some of them eat it right away, while others take it a little longer to get used to it - They eat everything I put out eventually. The yolks of the eggs they lay are thick and orange, which I can tell. They were already excellent, but now, following the flax seed snacks, they are the best eggs in Colorado. Period. br>br>Oh, and your flax seed consumption on a daily basis appears to bring incredible regularity to your bathroom routine. Simply soak it overnight in your favorite yogurt, then eat.

Both bags were spotless and free of dirt, stones, and weed seeds (unlike some other flax brands I've tried or what I frequently buy in bulk at my local health food store). There's nothing more irritating than having to spend time looking for stones or picking weed seeds out of the ground. br>br>Also, I've never found any broken seeds in this brand; having whole, unbroken seeds means they store exceptionally well. I go through about two of these bags per year, so getting to the bottom of one takes about six months. In terms of storage, I don't do anything special year-round. round. I take out about two or three pounds at a time, and then roll down the top of the bag and secure it with an elastic bungee cord. The bag is kept in the house throughout the entire year. (There is no air conditioning in this room. ) Under these conditions, the seed retains its viability quite well. br>br>It's worth noting that flax oil kept in whole, undamaged flaxseeds will not go rancid. That process begins only after the hull has been cracked. Flax oil goes rancid quickly when exposed to air, which is why it should be refrigerated and used as soon as possible. However, flaxseeds safely stored inside whole, unbroken flaxseeds, as nature intended, will last a long time at a wide range of temperatures. br>br>With some other grains, I've found that freezing them for a couple weeks is sometimes necessary to kill pest eggs. When it comes to flaxseed, I've never found it necessary. br>br>Golden flax is thought to be healthier by some. I looked into the nutritional value of each and discovered some differences (mostly minor). Each has its own strengths, but neither has a clear advantage over the other. Golden flax is always more expensive, and I don't think the current premium is justified. If the cost was the same, I'd alternate between the two or combine them (to take advantage of the benefits of both).
The product itself is fine; the issue was that the box, as well as the bag containing the seeds, had been punctured. I weighed the remaining bag and seed, which came to 19 pounds. 6 lbs. implying that I had shed more than five pounds in transit of seeds.
