You can eat it raw after sprouting it; depending on how much sprout you want, it can take anywhere from an overnight to a few days in water to start sprouting.
Because barley is a grain with a high starch content. This is by far the best barley I've ever tasted. Before I cook them, I soak them for several hours. It's the starch you're seeing, not the brand, that I've never had a problem with.
That worked fine for me, and it also thickened the soup a little.
This barley appeals to me, but I'm not sure if it's gluten-free. It's a staple in my soups, despite the fact that it's not labeled as gluten-free on the package. Of course, even acceptable oatmeal would have to be grown in fields where wheat had never previously been grown. That's all I know about it. You could give it a shot and see what happens. This information was given to me by my gluten-free daughter. Sorry

It will all have the same flavor. I wouldn't order it online unless my local grocery store didn't have it and I make a lot of beef barley soup. However, when I opened the box, I noticed Hebrew labeling and turned the bag over to see where it came from in Israel. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it was a can of dry beans with cooking instructions. I realized Amazon was charging me full price for something they had gotten for almost nothing because it had been mislabeled and couldn't be sold on a traditional marketplace.
Then it turned mushy after being cooked. Normal retains a semblance of body, but this stuff devolves into mush. It also appears strange in the package, as if two different species of barely have been combined. Usually makes me feel energized and good; This stuff, on the other hand, left me feeling bloated and gassy for two days. It appeared to have been chemically treated in some way. It's still in my cupboard, and every time I see it, it makes me hungry. The FDA should investigate this, in my opinion.
The barley is excellent, and the price was excellent, but the instructions on the label state that dry beans should be soaked and cooked. It's simple to find out how long barley takes to cook. Because of the packaging error, I deducted one star. The barley itself gets a five-star rating.
I like to use barley in soups and stews because of its unique texture and flavor, but you must soak it first. I don't use a lot of barley at once, so I have plenty on hand; however, I couldn't find any when I went grocery shopping. They offered to order them for me, but I found that I could get them faster and for less money on Amazon.
It's the main ingredient in my well-known beef-and-vegetable soup. Thank you a lot!.
In the southern United States, we have a lot of rain. The only thing I could find was instant barley, which was awful. I'm thrilled to have discovered this fantastic product, which I primarily use in soups and stews.
Is it possible to give barley four out of five stars? What makes you think barley is a bad thing? Well, the barley is fine; it's just odd (or perhaps Chinese) that the recipe on the bag called for soaking beans.
What I ordered was delivered exactly as promised. My favorite beef soup ingredient is pearled barley, but it's not available in our local supermarkets. I'm grateful that I was able to obtain it.
