That's fantastic news! This isn't pearled, but because it's so tender, it seems to work that way anyway. Pearled barley will be available as an additional option in the future.

The product I received had not been hulled and was therefore inedible. I made a healthy breakfast cereal by combining barley, rye berries, and oat groats in equal parts. After cooking, my mouth and teeth were clogged with hulls, which I had to pick out. I tried to remove all of the hulls from the second batch before cooking it. The hulls I collected from 1/3 cup of barley resulted in the photographs above. After cooking, there were still too many hulls to eat the cereal, so I threw the whole batch out. All of it is unusable because I mixed the barley with the other grains. I'm extremely dissatisfied and am requesting a refund.
I buy one of two brands of organic hulled barley, depending on which is the cheapest at the time; however, I prefer the darker, larger grains of this Be Still Farms barley. But that's just me. br>br>.
It tastes better than any barley you'll find in a local store. I enjoy pearl barley and decided to give the hulled variety a shot. I'm glad I took the initiative. I prepared a black-eyed pea soup. For New Year's Day, I made eye peas, ham, and this hulled barley. There have been no complaints, but there have been numerous compliments. I cooked the barley separately until it was almost done, then combined it with the ham and beans about 30 minutes before they were done. The texture is excellent, and the flavor is nutty. This is the most delicious barley I've ever tasted. br>br>The use by date on my 5 pound package is 16 months away. I couldn't find any loose hulls in the bag. It took about 45 minutes on low heat to get it to a slightly chewy consistency. After being cooked on low for another 30 minutes with the ham and beans, it softened a little more and absorbed some flavor. Anyone who enjoys freshly cooked barley should definitely try this. br>br>1st Revision br>br>2nd Revision br>br 20 added: br>Excellent whole grain food with a great taste; I've used it to replace whole grain rice on my grocery list, and I've enjoyed every dish I've made with it. Today, I placed an order for another 5 pound bag. Consider adding some wild rice to this for an extra special treat; it'll be delicious, and they'll cook in the same amount of time.
*Edit* I've now gone through five of these five-pound bags, and each one has been just as good as the first; I've just ordered three more. This product is still one of my favorites!br>- Original Critique- br>The barley tasted great and was very fresh. I completed the first of my five-part series. approximately 1 pound bag It tasted and smelled fresh at the end of 5 months after being opened. I simply put it back into the resealable bag it came in. I didn't refrigerate because it wasn't necessary. br>br>Also, the bran on these grains was well preserved. Much better than some of the other Amazon brands I tried, which were too pale and cooked too quickly to be truly whole-food. a grain of barley I'll buy this barley again, and I'll look into the company's other products.
grains. This was purchased with the intention of sprouting and growing barley grass. - as stated in the description. > > > Barley Grass Juice is a superfood. After three attempts, however, not a single kernel showed any signs of sprouting. After failing, I asked the seller a question (above), to which he replied, "it should sprout," but their hull-to-hull-to-hull to-hull-to-hull-to-hull-to-hull-to-hull-to-hull- For sprouting, it's best to use less barley. I'm going to try barley with the hulls or hull-like structures next time. I cut back on the barley (which I had done in the past because I trusted the recipe). The soaked barley had a nice texture and flavor before it turned to slime. raw and uncooked cooked.
This barley is of excellent quality. I've been experimenting with different grains to replace rice, and this barley with lentils was delicious. I used a 1: 1 ratio in my instant pot and cooked for 25 minutes. The ratio of barley to water is 5:1. The only problem was the foam that came out of my instant pot vent, but next time I'll add a little more olive oil. )br>br>In addition, the bag is nice and thick, with a good reusable zipper seal, so I didn't have to find another container to store it in.
It makes a nutrient-dense and delectable soup or porridge. I soak it for several hours before using it, and it sprouts. I have no reservations in awarding it five stars. br>Recent changes: This barley has always performed well. The standard is very high.
Unhulled barley works well as a rice substitute, and it cooks up faster and easier than the recipes suggest. It's probably due to the freshness of the barley. This is something I'll order over and over.
