Is this instant, or do you have to cook it first before using it in a soup or stew?

When I use Pearl Barley, I don't cook it first; instead, I just put as much as I think is needed (1/2 to 1 cup, depending on the size of the soup) into my soup pot and let it cook. It appears to take only about 20 minutes on average. Cooking time is approximately 30 minutes. It doesn't happen immediately.

Is this processed in a facility that does not use peanuts or tree nuts?

There is no mention of a nut-free facility on the bag.

Is this barley of a fine or medium quality?

I'm sorry, but I don't know the precise answer. I had no idea they came in a variety of sizes. It's possible that this is a medium level of difficulty. It appears to be quite large!

When I ran out of barley, I bought this package because I've always enjoyed it in soup. We added the barley after we canned about 12 quarts of vegetables from our garden. When cooked, this barley retains a firm texture.

Barley is also delicious! Barley is not only delicious in soups, but it is also good for your skin. A tablespoon of pearl barley was simmered in two quarts of water for 45 minutes, and a cup was consumed each morning and evening. When I looked in the mirror after a month on the barley water diet, I did a double take. My skin appeared to be flawless. br>br>I continued to drink the water for several months, and the acne disappeared. br>br>Azelaic acid, found in barley, is a topical treatment for rosacea and acne (Practical Dermatology, March 2013). Azelaic acid helps to prevent the formation of comedones (clogged pores) by reducing skin inflammation. Maybe that's why drinking barley water was effective.

The package had been opened and had been damaged

This product arrived with a cut in the packet, and the pearled barley was spilling out of the hole, so I was unable to use it and had to discard it; as a result, I never had the opportunity to taste it.

The flavor of this barley is incredible. So far, I've used it in a couple of recipes and it hasn't let me down. There are several servings in the package, and it lasts for a long time. I was very pleased with the product's quality; it tastes great and is a healthier alternative to many other highly processed grains. Once I finish this bag, I will definitely purchase again, and I would recommend this barley to anyone looking to purchase.

In the stores, the only barley I could find was quick cooking barley. It's a good thing I checked Amazon to see if you had pearled barley. It's fantastic.
