Hello,br>The purple barley variety is known as Karma. Pearled barley is not required for this type of barley. Heirloom grains have already developed into a hulless barley. Thank you
Sorry, I don't have an answer, but I make a bruel mixture that is similar to Gregor's (minus the lentils): 2 cups oat groats, 1 cup rye berries, 1 cup purple barley, and 1 cup barley combined, then 1 cup cooked That brings the total to three. 4 servings with a variety of berries and/or fruit, warmed up
Hulless Heirloom Barley is the name given to this variety of barley. Thanks
Hello,br>br>On Amazon, there are two options. You can purchase a single bag that weighs 16 ounces (1 pound) or a four-pack that weighs four pounds. Thank you. br>br>

For the past six months, I've been wanting to try Purple Barley and finally bought some. This is what I came to. Don't waste your time. It tastes almost exactly like regular hulled barley, but at a much higher price; I know the purple is supposed to have more anthrocyans, but the nutrients are lost in the cooking water because you have to boil and drain it. If it had been interesting to eat, I wouldn't have cared. It has the same flavor as regular hulled barley. I got some fantastic black barley. The flavor is one of a kind. It's all a tad too much. As a result, for an excessive amount of money. br>br>Above that, the product is on the verge of expiring. 'Best by September' is written on the label. 2021'. That's a five-month wait for a grain, which is absurd. If I'm reading the dates correctly, It should be noted that the product was harvested and packaged in September 2018 (not a typo). 2018). That means I received a two-and-a-half-year-old product. Forget about it. They got three stars instead of two, which is a big deal.
This product is a _single_ 16 oz package, not a four-pack of 16 oz packages. Even if the quality is excellent (I haven't yet tried it), the price for a single pound of grain is far too high. Worst of all, this item is *non-returnable. *Can be returned! So, if you get it under false pretenses, you can't even demand a refund for the gross misrepresentation of the product's quantity; you'll have to look for a different brand and seller.
I got lost down a rabbit hole in search of farro and came across this. I decided to give it a shot, and it turned out to be quite enjoyable! It is beneficial to soak overnight, but it is not necessary if you can set aside a longer cook time. I have not tried cooking in the Instant Pot, but it should be fine as long as you follow the IP directions for grains. Please keep in mind that it will be chewier than pearled barley, and you may get a few hulls despite the lack of variety. There's no need to be concerned. I also ordered quick oatmeal, which is also good, based on a positive experience with the seller.
I'm going to stick with this brand of purple barley because I use it in so many of my recipes. It's also spotless, free of debris, and smells great. It will now be prepared in a standard manner for both my guests and me. I'm overjoyed to have found this barley; it's without a doubt the best tasting barley I've ever had.
I'm guessing this barley was very old stock because no one else complained about it being inedible because it was too hard and tough to chew. There was no use by date on the packages that I could find. I began by following the instructions on the 32-ounce package for cooking. The barley was the consistency of BB gun pellets after 34 minutes of testing. I reheated it for 30 minutes more. BB gun pellet consistency that has been slightly softened. The BB gun pellets cracked open after another 30 minutes of cooking, but they were still too tough to eat. br>This winter, I'm hoping that the remaining packages in my bird feeder will be enjoyed by my local bird population.
I almost never find any foreign material in the grains, and I always get a high yield. It's ready to eat or put through my masticating juicer to make bread after soaking for 12 hours and then rinsing every 12 hours for two or three days. It's an excellent product, and one of the few grains that can be sprouted in a jar without fermenting. Most grains require sprouting in a tray, but not this one (unless you're sprouting barley grass, of course).
I like hulled barley so much that this product with added nutrition was too good to pass up. It contains more protein and fiber than hulled barley, which explains why it tastes so good and is so chewy. Vegans will appreciate that their grains have a little more chew to them. It was delicious when I combined it with some other grains. It's taken up residence in my pantry. It was a fortunate discovery.
The barley was delicious in and of itself. However, only one of the four packages was sent to me. When I contacted Amazon, I was given a refund, but the whole situation was frustrating and off-putting.
