The product for my household is no longer purchased by me. Black mold and a strong odor from mold was detected in 19 pouches purchased at two big box stores and on Amazon in the past three weeks. I knew there was nothing wrong with our storage method, as 12 pouches purchased at the same time did not suffer the same problem. We do not know whether Uncle Ben's own products are being shipped with old preservatives or if the preservative content has changed. The smell and taste do not appeal to me. It tastes old and stale as if it's been sitting out for a while. If you have been using Uncle Ben's rice, you'll see why this The old style long grain Uncle Ben's rice I love has nothing on this stuff it smells horrible and tastes horrible. I bought 10 bags of this stuff thinking it would be a quick and easy meal but boy I was wrong 8 of the ten bags went into the trash. For those of you wishing for the traditional long grain rice, this is not it for me it is an utterly terrible product and I would not purchase it.

Rice that is "heat and eat" is convenient and I am glad that more brands are coming out with their versions. Uncle Ben's rice products have been my staple for years. Cooking from dry rice on the stove or in a rice cooker produces the best result. But when I'm under the weather and just need to make a meal quickly, this is the way to go. Whenever I make stir fry, I use this ingredient a lot. My words keep coming out like "stir-" In the freezer, place freeze-dried shrimp or chicken in a small zip-top bag, place a bag of diced meat use frozen stir-fry noodles After they've cooled, place the carrots and the broccoli together in a large freezer bag, then zip it up again. This way, I just grab a pack out of the freezer and my Ready Rice Whole Grain Brown Rice, start the stir fry, and when it's almost done, pop the rice into a microwave.
