Although I have no idea what it is, it looks and feels like fat that has congealed (like bacon fat). Although I have never made sausage myself, it appears that others always use frozen fat in its original form when they do. For frying potatoes, eggs, and other items, I use this just as I would Crisco or oil.

I am sure you will enjoy it! No additives are added to this fat it is pure duck fat. It's true that there are other duck fat products here on Amazon that come with Prime shipping, but don't be fooled - it's not worth the cost. It is a lot better than other products, which contain additives and are not as good. Once opened, keep it refrigerated, as it will last for much longer than I will store it. There is nothing better for making my breakfast hash browns, and you can't taste potatoes until you roast up some Yukon Golds! It is easy to tell that this duck fat is from Quebec, because the Quebecois know ducks and duck fat like the back of their hands. keep the NAFTA spirit alive.
For the first time, I'm cooking with duck fat and I am very happy with the results. My favorite way to prepare potatoes is to roast them. The potatoes are pre-boiled, then topped with duck fat and roasted in a 420* oven for 30 minutes. If you cook pork chops in duck fat and deglaze the pan with white wine the result will be the most perfect sauce you've ever had.

The depth of flavor Duck Fat brings to simple plates has become indispensable to me when it comes to cooking. I was impressed with how fast we arrived I love the freshness of it. Keeping it in the fridge will keep it fresher longer.

The product gets a four from me since it's simply bland. I guess I had hoped it would taste like the fat that I get when I cook my own duck (which I suppose was over-imaginative With the exception of this small (and picky) complaint, I think this is an excellent product, it just needs a little bit of love to make it a really tasty one.
Duck fat is healthy and great for your body. Duck fat was discovered and its benefits were discovered I've found that can be really good in preparing potatoes and that it works with eggs and meats as well. A roasted vegetable dish is also available. It's unbelievable how good all of these foods taste.
