We got 2 cans and had enough for the four of us to fill up to the brim, plus I will make either duck stew or a duck salad with hoisin/plum sauce for dinner tomorrow. We had leftovers from yesterday for lunch today, meaning the meat in the cans is enough for a family of four at a time. There are many ways to make the meat even hotter, all of which are easy to do, and all of which turn out a delicious result. Our method was to remove them from the jars and fat and fry them on the stovetop in cast iron skillets skin side down until the skin crisped (medium low because cast iron is so efficient for 10 minutes), then flip them over and let them reheat fully. I described my dish as rustic since I had to cut the meat off the bones and the meat was a pile, unlike a sandwich or a dish. You'd get them at a restaurant in beautiful individual pieces. With frozen green beans and mashed potatoes, I was able to create a simple meal with great taste. To use as a kitchen fat, I poured off the fat from the cans into mason jars and refrigerated for a couple of weeks. We had a delicious meal the night before, and as part of our breakfast, I used the fat from one of the pans and fried some eggs. The fat is mild in flavor and this was a wonderful use of it. Definitely worth the price, delicious duck that you can eat with your hands. The duck fat from your potatoes cooked in it is excellent for cooking potatoes and you can keep the remaining fat in.
