There was no discernible difference in my opinion. It's likely that Starkist simply updated their packaging to make it more appealing.
It really is that good.

This is the most delicious tuna I've had in a long time. I recently stopped eating tuna because it was such a bad product; I've worked as a commercial fisherman for most of my life and know what a good seafood product is.
This product has a high level of saity due to the extra virgin olive oil, and I've been eating these for breakfast for months as part of my current weight loss efforts, and they deliver as they leave you feeling much more satisfied than double the amount of tuna in water. This is a great option for those looking for a healthy, tasty, and quick protein source.
Keep an eye on things. Two of the pouches were inflated and putrid. I've attached a photo. I was too afraid to try the rest, so I threw them away.
I placed an order for StarKist E. Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Yellowfin Tuna - I had previously ordered the 6 oz Pouch (Pack of 24) and had been very pleased with it. But this time, I got Starkist Albacore White Tuna in water 24 2. (Pack of 24) 6 oz. Pouch White albacore has a distinct flavor, and I'm not sure if it's more environmentally friendly, but I'm not sure. br>I chose to keep the Starkist rather than deal with the hassle of returning it, despite the fact that Starkist is currently cheaper than EVOO (although I'm not sure that was the case when I bought it). The Starkist has a good flavor and is lower in calories. br>Perhaps Amazon, which knows far more about me than I do, has decided it's past time for me to shed those last ten pounds? br>All kidding aside, be aware that you may receive something other than what you ordered.
Very tasty. I haven't finished my extensive market research, so I can't comment on the value for money, but I'm going to go with my gut and say yes, this is a great deal. This is the pouched tuna for you if you enjoy tuna and evoo. Unfortunately, I wasted an hour of my life comparing different tuna options before settling on this and the canned sustainable tuna. Both are excellent, but I find myself drawn to this one. Tuna in sunflower oil is also a favorite of mine.
It tastes fantastic. In fact, I was on time. I'd recommend it again because it doesn't go bad. Although I wish the extra virgin olive oil didn't come at such a high price; I understand it's premium and healthy (oil), but when you get to this quantity (24 pack), it's a $10 add-on.
I got exactly the number of packages I ordered, and they're all due to expire in March 2021. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
In fact, everyone I've given a pouch to has gone out and purchased one for themselves. My son inquired as to where I obtained it because, quote, "it's delicious. " My picky- It's her favorite dish out of everything I've made for her. I don't care for canned or fresh tuna, but I absolutely adore this.
