I used to eat kippered snacks but stopped when most companies began using artificial enhancers and preservatives. These are made the old-fashioned way, with only herring, canola oil, salt, and smoke as ingredients. The latter is significant because I've tried brands that had an odd aftertaste, as if the smoke was more artificial flavor than the smoking process itself. br>br>You will receive two split herring pieces, each with two filets. Each one is approximately 4 inches long. There is a lot of smoked fish per can because they are 5 inches long. Please see my uploaded photos for a better idea of how these actually look. br>br>Another thing I like is that there is no dye or other color agents like annato in them. I've added two customer-supplied photos to the gallery. Images were provided to demonstrate that the flesh is of a natural hue. The flavor is truly delicious due to the absence of additives. More importantly, the skin has been evenly smoked, and the herring filets have a firm texture. To put it another way, this is a high-quality kippered herring. br>br>These are comparable to other brands in terms of nutrition: There are three of them. Each can contains 5 140-calorie servings, with 100 of those calories coming from fat. I make three servings out of this. The filets are drenched in their own juices and drenched in canola oil. I drain my filets thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel to remove some of the fat from the oil. There are 11 grams of total fat and 25 milligrams of cholesterol in each serving. Sodium - exactly as predicted - If you have dietary restrictions, keep in mind that the serving size is 280mg (or 840mg per can). The protein content of each can is 36 grams. a serving size of 12 grams - This is a significant advantage. br>br>In conclusion, if you enjoy kippered snacks, these are some of the best I've tried. I buy mine locally, but if I couldn't, I'd order them from here because of the high quality and flavor.
