You don't have to refrigerate it before opening it. It is perfectly suited for storing in a pantry or on a shelf.
A date of expiration has been assigned to this product because it is perishable. Then I save them in a cool, dark area with good air circulation. Store them in a cabinet in the garage or in the pantry down stairs, where it's cool, and then put them in the refrigerator once they're opened! Even without being opened and unsweetened, I have used it up to 6 months after the date of expiration. This particular Soy product has been used by my whole family for more than four years now. There's no doubt about the quality of the food or the price.
While they are shelf stable, they do not require refrigeration. It is best to find a cooler, darker spot.
A word like guaranteed is odd to use in the context of Visit Whole Foods for more information. Organic in the U.S. means plants and seeds that are not genetically modified.

Having purchased this kind of soy milk for quite some time, it was my favorite. After that, sometime in the last year or so. . Does 9 months seem long to you? There may be a vanilla flavor in these unsweetened packages because the company that makes them for Whole Foods has put that flavor in. the same thing last year, but put Vanilla in Original packages instead. checking to see if they've fixed the problem every few months and, nope, still an unsolved issue. The Whole Foods at my local Whole Foods store told me this at least four times. A management team of two and a grocery staff of two They all act as though I don't know what I'm talking about, so I'm lost. No action has been taken, obviously. Our money is being lost by WFM because of this. There is a new brand I'm using now.
I have been drinking soy milk everyday for years So I threw it away. This product uses only organic soybeans and water as its ingredients.
