The cheese is French I do not know how long it has been aged it is less expensive than gruyere, although the price on Amazon is higher than when it was at Costco.

In my opinion, this Gruyere cheese is excellent. I love the way it melts and tastes. My rating of 'four stars' is based on how I liked this cheese in Switzerland, and while this version is creamy and delicious, it lacks the degree of nuance that my favorites provide.
This was the worst comte cheese I had ever tasted. It makes me so sad.
There was only one Swiss cheese that was both hard and tasted like Parmesan cheese. A very sharp cutting edge - We didn't use the rest as the dog wouldn't even touch it after the first taste. It is possible that it would be ok in cooking, but I would never go through that much effort for cheese I disliked.
As it arrived, it had a nice cool temperature and was in great shape.
So creamy and fresh in flavor.
