Questions & Answers

On a 6TB hard drive, how many hours of 4K video can you store?

This is impossible to calculate without first learning about full or motion recording, as well as background object masking. If you only use the Motion Trigger, you'll be able to record for many more days. Amcrest Team br>br>

Is there a way to expand this system to include more cameras?

Yes, this is a 16-channel NVR with the capability of supporting up to 16 cameras. Amcrest Team br>br>

FYI- Personal Experience:br>Long Reviewbr>Personal Experience: br>The hard drive in my "old" camera system, which used BNC cables, had failed, and I needed to replace it. br>Camera Installation - I decided to invest in an NVR system and did some research before settling on this Amcrest product. Because I was replacing existing cameras, mounting the new ones was relatively simple because all of the lines into the house could be pulled using the old ones. One major benefit is that ethernet wires are much easier to run than BNC wires because they only have one plug for everything instead of two. I also ran a single ethernet line to a POE switch, which greatly reduced the number of lines going into the location where I kept my NVR. My previous setup had all of the BNC wires coming out of the DVR, but thanks to the POE switch, I was able to reduce the number of BNC wires from six to one. Something to keep in mind because I had problems laying the ethernet; Don't make an attempt to re-create the situation. finish the pre-processing Amcrest provided ethernet, so I bought some that are designed for re-use. the process of terminating The pre- If you spool up the unused amount of made ethernet, it's great, but when I tried to re-use it, it was a nightmare. Termination was a disaster; if you want custom lengths, buy ethernet that is dedicated to them. Make sure you have the right equipment to mount the cameras to whatever surface you need when you're planning your system. Prior to attaching everything to the wall, I found it relatively simple to mount the outer "ring" to the wall. After you've installed the outer "ring," lightly tighten the ring's screw to secure the camera and ensure it's facing the right way. Before tightening the outer "ring," make sure the camera is working and facing the way you want it to. I mentioned it before, but using a POE switch or injector near a switch can save you a lot of wire routing time (if you lay everything out correctly), but you'll have to buy a POE switch separately because it's not included with this kit. Setup of Cameras and NVRs - Before you mount everything, make sure you change the passwords for ALL of the cameras and NVR. Preset all of the camera and NVR information (Names, locations, etc. ) is something I wish I had done before I installed everything. Make all of the cameras' IP addresses static, as well as the NVR's if you want. I had a power outage, and my router assigned IP addresses to the cameras at random, so I had to reconnect everything because the cameras were not "directly connected" to the NVR. Finding the cameras on the network again wasn't a big deal, but once I made all of the cameras on my network static, I didn't have to "find" them again if/when I lost power. I also connected my NVR to my phone using the APP, which is a little less refined than the NVR, but if you make all of the necessary changes on the NVR, you can avoid many of the APP's more difficult features. This NVR has a ton of features, and I've only scratched the surface in terms of motion detection and alerting me. It's simple to use if you just want to get started, but it can also be highly customized. br>br>In conclusion - Overall, this is a fantastic system, and I was blown away by how simple it was to set up and use, both at the NVR and on my phone. I've already added a couple of more cameras to the system, and the NVR found them in no time. Advantages: br>br> br>Quality cameras and NVRbr>Comes with nearly everything you need to get startedbr>Included Ethernet makes it simple to connect the camera to the NVRbr>4K resolution is impressive, especially when zoomed inbr>Support PTZ featuresbr>Tons of customizationbr>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> br>Doesn't say "200" hours of recording or anything like that, and customer service isn't very helpful. br>100ft ethernet, in my opinion, is too short if you place the NVR anywhere other than the exact center of your house.
