This product works well when it works, but the battery lasts for about 3 days before you need to change it out for another one or wait for hours for it to recharge. As a result, the app resets, so you do not get notified anymore.
In a nutshell, As far as video/audio quality goes, it's great. I'm sure it's affected by a variety of factors (WiFi, light access, objects in the way, etc. ), but I've had a great experience. Despite leaving the areas of activity pretty sensitive (the video posted shows it being activated by passing cars), the battery is not draining quickly as others have reported. In fact, I do not believe it has fallen below the 90% mark since I bought it. This island has been hit by three big storms but has not been damaged by any of them. While I have yet to have a stranger ring the bell, I have not used the app to speak to a stranger. I get notifications quickly, well before people get to the door.
The video quality is clear and I am able to identify people easily during the daytime as well as at night, which I appreciate. The live view sometimes has a lag, but I'm not aware of any factors that dictate when or if it will lag. In spite of having to drill through brick, the installation was easy. At this point, I noticed that the back plate that seals the doorbell was installed incorrectly, leaving a gap around the entire device. In my estimation, this will allow moisture to accumulate so I tried to tighten the screws myself and realized they were all angled, which would result in the screws and housing being stripped. As a result of the gap, the mounting screws included with the doorbell are too short, so I had to use other screws I had on hand to attach it I am definitely going to rethink future purchases of refurbished items based on my experience with this one. It sucked that I had to send back another doorbell because of the mounting. I found it easy to install and set up the Ring.
