Selected User Reviews For SimpliSafe Entry Sensor - Window and Door Protection - Compatible with The SimpliSafe Home Security System (New Gen)
This is not as simple as it claims and there is no support for Apple HomeKit. I went with SimpliSafe when I should have gone with a different solution after lots of research. Setting up the system looked easy thanks to the videos and the online documentation. One keypad, eight entry sensors, a motion sensor, a doorbell, a door lock, and a camera were purchased. I set up many of the equipment myself, and much of it was easy to do. However, doing so was not even remotely as fast as they claim it would be. When you use a phone app to name your devices, it is much easier than using the old-fashioned keypad to name your devices. Before I continue, I want to stress that SimpliSafe does not work with HomeKit (Siri), even though this was supposed to be included when we ordered our system. I have read that basically Apple and SimpliSafe were not able to sort out an agreement and there are no plans to integrate the two going forward (we were told by technical My decision would have been a deal breaker by this point since I would never have chosen a system that does not work with Apple products. Back to installation do not expect to complete it in a few hours, perhaps a couple of days. Make a full day of it. Despite its apparent simplicity, installing the lock is not as easy as it seems, and none of the adapters we needed for our townhouse were those that were mentioned in the instructions. It turned out to be the one that looked most similar to the suggested solution, so we chose it. In this case, you are replacing a physical deadbolt, and this can take some time.
The doorbell had many problems. Even though it was less than 8 feet from a WiFi repeater, the device failed to connect to the network. Only the option to add a repeater was offered by the troubleshooter, which we already had and was A little more than two weeks had passed and the doorbell lost its connectivity without apparent cause. While communication from SIMPISA support is extremely helpful even if they seem to assume you know nothing about technology, which is not the case for me. It took a few minutes after walking me through a reset (tiny pin hole inside the doorbell) that is not explained in any documentation I found for me to get the doorbell fully operational again and it has been going strong for several weeks now. In the latest developments, the camera currently has lost WiFi connection even though it has not moved or changed anything with our wireless network. Despite three attempts to add the camera, the network refuses to accept it. It has an extremely strong WiFi signal as well. It will be necessary to call customer support again to get the camera working again.
In addition, the apps need to be reinstalled. An iPhone X, two iPad Pro tablets, and an Apple Watch 4 are all running the apps. There are some shortcomings regarding the phone app, including its speed when compared with Apple's iPad does not have an It's not possible to use the app horizontally since you have to download the iPhone app. A very disappointing experience. In this case, I would hope that the camera would automatically pop up on my phone when the doorbell rings. Not at all. After you get a notification, they are already gone by the time the app opens and you can view the camera. It's a waste of time to install Apple Watch app. There is no way to make it A lot of the time, when you tap, it is automatically refreshed Despite the fact that the phone had the accurate alarm status for the couple of times it finished refreshing, the alarm status was ever so slightly off. It is important to do your research and to not be misled by SimpliSafe's supposedly reliable recommendations. In addition to iLock, there are other systems that I've discovered, or are newer, that offer better integration with Apple HomeKit. A system that is far superior to SimpliSafe is currently installed in our vacation home.
All of these are what they should The entry sensors are easy to install, slim, not unsightly, and appear to work well on a wall. In addition, the sticky tape that comes with the products is terrible. No one told us that after spending the time to install the products, after a few days and a few weeks the adhesive simply evaporates. Even though this is disappointing in and of itself, the bigger issue is that if you have your alarm set In the event that they fall off, then the alarm WILL be triggered. When we are asleep, this would be terrifying. And when we are not home (or not able to get to the house when the alarm goes off), this would be very unsettling. It would be the cops showing up at the house, etc. I wish this possibility had been mentioned in the simplisafe set up instructions for when we originally set these up If we had removed all of them, followed by a prompt reinstallation of the new ones (before the alarm would go off), it would have saved us a lot of time and energy. The steps you take are as follows To install the sensors, you will need to use the screws that came with them. When you're like us and you don't want to screw into your wood or walls, buy a strong tape like Gorilla brand or use silicone to hold them in place. The sensors can be placed on the bottom of your windowsill, so there is less risk of them falling off (we had them at the top, which caused them to fall. Simplisafe should be held accountable for this very important bit of information which should have been provided during In the end, we've soured on the brand and feel anxious when arming our systems compared to being confident.
My experience with the installation and connection of the base has been very easy. The system does all that by itself when you turn it on and name each sensor, whether it's the motion detector, the glass breakage sensor, entryway sensors you install on doors and windows, the cameras, or even the extra wireless 105dB Sirens. The installation of SimpliSafe Monitoring and its connection to it are extremely simple. It has been a couple years since I looked at security systems and I chose this one because they offered a free camera in exchange for my business. The reason I was so elated was when I discovered how well the system works and that you can use it if the Wi-Fi is on If the internet goes down, it uses the cell phone as a back-up solution and contacts SimpliSafe Monitoring in an emergency if necessary. Also, I like that there are sensors you can buy later, such as a water leak sensor, a CO2 sensor, and a temperature sensor so your water lines won't freeze, which is great for vacation cabins. If you decide to add them later, it is easy to do so. I found out today that I get a discount on my homeowners insurance because I have an alarm system monitored. SimpliSafe gives me the peace of mind I need. A repurchase of the entire system is definitely in the cards for me, and I likely will do so for a second property that I own shortly. This is a system of great quality without a doubt.
It's that simple. This entry sensor is manufactured in the U. S. A. , not made in China. It is cheaper to find on Amazon with free shipping to I am less likely to spend more than I would on All of them are easy to install and work as expected. Clean the area you plan to stick it to first. Protect your home and family by doing this. So if you really want to protect your family, get some guns.
A 180 degree view is provided by the camera, and motion detectors have a similar field of view. Whenever my Tech support needs were addressed, it was done quickly and clearly. It couldn't have been better!.
As a result, it may fall down within a couple of It's been about a year since we installed simplisafe in our building, and it has its quirks and reliability issues, such as telling us a door is open when it's not or displaying cameras that aren't always working.
