The antenna is tuneable if you know how to do it, and it is amazing, people can write bad reviews but still cannot tune I am not going to cut my hair for 3 feet. I have 3 antennas here, but the antennas are 2 feet long, so you can't cut the To tune the unit, you remove the red cap, grab one end of the red copper wire, pull it out from under the plastic and cut it. Put the cap back on and then test it with the My Jeep had a 5 on channel 1 and an 8 on channel 40 meaning the antenna was too long so I removed 6" of wire, went down 2 swr points, and removed another 6". I see I need another inch of wire, so I cut an inch more of wire. You are now watching channel 1, now. You can find them on channel 7 and My time was less than five minutes, so I was done pretty quickly. Although the antenna is completely tuneable, please be careful not to cut too much wire and then tune it making it too short - if this happens, you can lengthen it by adding a spring or quick-disconnect to the antenna bottom, then removing additional wire as necessary.
My aftermarket FM/AM radio antenna became damaged and corroded in the middle, so I bought this antenna to replace it. My only use for this antenna is for FM/AM radio and not for CB. As long as there is only receiving taking place, it works just fine! It is impossible for me to attest to the "transmission situation" nor do I know what the RF would look like. While keeping quality high, I found this antenna to be the least expensive one I could find. My first impression of it was that it was skinnier than I expected it to be, but I was pleasantly surprised when it had some flex. Due to the fact that I have only just installed it, I am not sure how durable it will be in the future. Therefore, I rated it a 4 star. My previous antenna was of poor quality, which was also present on my other (non-name brand) antenna. I have flexed it quite a bit before installation, and I think the coating and fiberglass rods are of good quality. I have been very happy with the service so far. The product is excellent! I would recommend it to others!.
There is no doubt that the antenna is of a high quality. It was noted in a couple other reviews that the antennas could not be tuned. The one I wrote was a bit By removing the red tip and cutting about 1/4 inch off the end, I achieved my goal. The SWR was then adjusted to an acceptable level. It was just a matter of installing the red tip again. Specifically, I installed the CB in my jeep for trail ride with my friends. There is also a VHF/UHF ham radio in the Jeep.
They are not tunable, although their description plainly states "Broad Tuning Range" They should be enough for their purpose. The range is 0000 This is 500 MHz it is not". It came in loose packaging and not in packaging supplied by the manufacturer.
They just chopped it off a foot to make it 2'.
A Firestick antenna does not work in the same way and it is not designed in the same way as There is no tunable tip at the top end of the antenna. There is minimal packaging material used in the delivery of it, as it arrives loose in a large box. My CB antenna is not certain whether or not it will work for it. My plan is to buy a Firestick antenna with a tuneable tip if this one cannot be tuned, then I will use it.
I will have to return this antenna because the swr adjustment is not available.
