It's only going to get better. br>br>Update 7/6/2021br>br>It's only going to get better. br>br>Even without the NOGUI option and control over the Curve Flatten and Laser Targeting functions, the TWAIN DS has a lot of hidden gems. br>br>On Amazon, Plymor sells a "B013IVWJP6 Clear Acrylic Open Book Display Stand" that holds a book in a clear cradle and allows you to keep it open without using your fingers. The only drawback is that it "Keystones" the Left and Right page images, and TWAIN DS lacks an automated "De-Keystone" feature. Making the images rectangular by "keystoning" them. br>br>However, even when distorted, the Book cradle scanning images are near-perfect, the light bounces off and does not glare, and the images are legible. Turning the pages is also quick, and you can rely on the Autodetect of a Page Turn feature to capture more images. It has the feel of a high-end DSLR camera, without the soft-touch paint found on many capture devices. It's made of hard plastic rather than metal, and it's of high quality. The weight makes it much easier to carry and keep still when set up for capture. The LED lights on the extendable swing arm, as well as Ambrella(? ) or Sony Sensor platform is stable and does not move. br>br>I already had the DSCam software and the TWAIN Data Source driver installed, and it quickly recognized and configured everything. On my Windows 7 x64 computer, I already had Irfanview and Scan Papyrus licensed and installed, so I went straight to the Select and Acquire menus. The Twain DSM has been pre-installed on Windows. installed since Windows XP, and my TWAIN Enabled Application was able to access a new DS source right away. br>br>I was a little disappointed that Scan Papyrus opened the TWAIN DS dialog window to select source settings and then required a two-step button press (Acquire and Export) to return images from the TWAIN dialog window to the Twain Application. However, it is effective. br>br>I'm hoping that the NOGUI TWAIN option is available via a registry setting, because Scan Papyrus has pulled TWAIN images from other data sources without a GUI dialog, resulting in a seamless experience. Scan Papyrus appears to be able to make changes to the settings while the request is being processed, rather than having to use the GUI dialog. As a result, I can only assume that the TWAIN DS ignores or does not support the NOGUI option. Support, hopefully, will be able to help. br>br>However, this is the closest thing I've seen for a Book Scanning platform to the BEST solution I've seen. br>br>As is, the TWAIN support. But, as I previously stated. . . During capture, I'd much rather have a nogui option. br>br>I can set up a combination of settings to create a double-edged sword. With a single tap of the keyboard, the TWAIN GUI is revealed, allowing you to snap a photo and export it right away. However, it's just a kludge that I'd rather not see. br>br>Scan Papyrus 21 in combination. The K21 and 3 out of Amsterdam are a near-perfect combination for the rest of the world outside of China. It's sleek and minimalist, and it does pretty much everything the original Vissan Desktop software does, but without the clutter of a more customized software package. br>br>Beyond Nogui, there are two things that are a bit disappointing: 1. br>br> When using the TWAIN DS, the LED lights do not turn on, which is understandable, but if the TWAIN DS GUI must be displayed, it would be nice to include a checkbox for the LED lighting. To control the LED lighting, you could create a separate system tray application. (update: The SONY scattered Dot symbol on the top of the stand is a capacitive "Touchpad" for turning on and off the LED lighting; there is no other obvious way to turn on and off the LED lighting through the Viisan OfficeCam software, though it is convenient. )br>br>2. )br>br>3. )br>br>4. ) Again, when using the TWAIN DS, the Page flatten feature does not work. If the GUI is required, a checkbox for the FLAT option should be included in that. Alternatively, a separate system tray application to control the FLAT option could be provided. br>br>I have a feeling these are minor issues that could be addressed quickly and easily if Developers or Users had access to an SDK or OCX control that allowed them to write it themselves. However, it is still usable in its current state. br>br>I'm not sure how to get to the device driver API in order to turn on the LED lighting or the FLAT option (also known as "Curve Flatten"). It would be such a simple thing to add to make it a perfect product; all they need is a small systray app to toggle these features outside of the TWAIN protocol's scope. Put it in place and forget about it. br>br>Scanning, despite the fact that it's done via USB2. 0 moves at a breakneck speed. Even in the TWAIN DS GUI dialog, there is an AutoFocus button, and the image quality at 21 MP is impressive. The TWAIN DS GUI includes a WebCam capture feature that allows you to preview both the 21 MP scan region and a USB Webcam connected to the same system at the same time. It is possible to use separate buttons for Webcam (only) TWAIN Capture or 21 MP scan region (only) TWAIN Capture or MERGED Webcam and 21 MP scan region capture. br>br>This is excellent if you require a Webcam TWAIN capture system, as well as a bonus (in addition to the K21 scanner). You can use this with any Webcam to turn it into a standalone TWAIN DS capture source, or an additional Compositing TWAIN DS capture source, either separately or in conjunction with the images you capture. I used it with an old Logitech C615 Business camera that didn't come with a Logitech TWAIN DS driver. It does, however, work with the Viisan K21. br>br>OfficeCAM br>br>OfficeCAM br>br>OfficeCAM br>.

The product, in my opinion, is quite good. The equipment is of good quality. The software is difficult to use, but it completes a large portion of the work. When the finger elimination feature does not work, you must move the finger to a different position and then continue working until it does. The quality is excellent, as is the processing speed. In my case, the foot pedal takes two photos at the same time, so I'll have to contact the manufacturer to figure out how to fix it. Aside from that, I think the product is good; I've scanned a number of books from my personal library, and they're all fine.

I bought this to digitize some of the books I still have on paper, and I'm very pleased with it so far. The setup is very straightforward and intuitive, and I only needed to consult the small guide once to ensure that I wasn't missing anything. The software is included on a CD, but you can also download it directly from their website (viisan. com, then Support). the motorist Downloads from the manual Download the "VIISAN OfficeCam" utility from the "Book Scanners" section) - The software comes in a 332MB zip file that auto-updates after you install it. is ready to go after detecting the camera. You can scan as an image, a document, a book, a barcode, OCR, or a "visualizer" (I'm not sure, and I didn't try it). br>br>A couple of things to keep in mind. This is a big machine that requires a lot of space to set up, but you don't have to use the pad that comes with it (though I recommend it if you're doing photos or images because the auto-feed isn't very good). The detect feature will significantly improve the cropping of your photos. Only one of the finger buttons or the foot pedal can be connected at any given time. The foot pedal is my personal favorite. It's great that the camera has crosshairs to help you line up the book. When using the "Book" mode, the scans take about 2 seconds to complete. When scanning a book, you must hold the pages tightly in your hands throughout the scanning process. Tight, but not so much that it hurts the spine. I've included a couple of examples. The text- The first is a 300-page softcover book, while the second is a hardcover book with only 200 pages. I showed a photo of each book during the scan as well as the final scan with curve flattening that I saved as a searchable PDF. The scanner captured every word, including bold and italics, with remarkable accuracy. br>br>This is the third document scanner I've tried, and it's by far the best. This is an excellent option if you need to digitize any documents.

I have an HP Pavilion as well as an iMac. I've only used Macs since 1985, so I'm new to PCs. The scanner easily connected to the PC, but I need to get it to work with the iMac because all of my document files are stored there. br>So far, it's worked well, scanning a cover and a page from a 1920s magazine that I could previously only scan in sections. I'm still working my way through the instructions to figure out the full capabilities of this scanner, but I'm excited to scan some of my artwork that wouldn't fit in a flatbed scanner.

This is a fantastic device for Next Gen scanning because it sets up quickly and easily right out of the box. The software is simple to install and use, and you're ready to go. The flattening technology is good, but it could use some improvement. It comes with its own manipulation software, so you don't need Photoshop or anything else. The OCR functionality is fantastic! br>br>I like how this system has a video feature. To make my points to some of my coworkers, I can easily use printed images and charts that I can share via video or Zoom meetings, etc. workers from other countries It's a fantastic setup for me, and it's proved to be a very useful tool!.
