Elmo, my twelve-year-old pet, had finally given up the ghost, and I needed to find a new home for him. The newer model is far superior to the older model in terms of functionality: picture quality is better, magnification is higher, and the camera is lighter but just as sturdy. I'm very interested in trying out the newer model's recording capability.
Purchases made with my own money for use in my classroom ($619) because I do not have access to technology. As a mobile educator, I have a cart on which this is transported. Any jostling of the moving cart between classrooms causes the neck to drop lower and lower, but it continues to function. Due to the increased class sizes in which I teach, I was later assigned a room. For the past eight months, Elmo hasn't moved a muscle. Elmo hasn't turned on this morning. The on button will not turn blue and will remain red. It's covered by the warranty, but I have to send it to Elmo for repair in their original box, if possible. ELMO has mandated that I package it, insulate it from shocks, purchase insurance, and pay for shipping in order to fix this! This has been a very costly decision, and I will most likely have to switch brands when I return to being a mobile teacher. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> ELMO arrived in four days with a five-degree wobble in the camera head and two long parallel scratches on the housing. Apparently, during the repair, the head was not installed as "tight" as it should have been. They put it down to the shipping company. ELMO provided a return shipping label to remedy this, but I ended up having to pay for boxes, bubble wrap, and a new ELMO ac adapter and hdmi cable because they did not return mine. When I called, I was told that the warehouse that opened the box had not found the items that I had shipped. If you're a mobile teacher, stick to the $200 ELMO or the $425 HoverCam Ultra 8 (which is the TT-8) models. 12th direct opponent). br>br>5/26/20br>Now teaching from a distance. To check settings, I connected elmo to a display via hdmi. Disconnects when it refuses to stay on. When it does work, it will randomly disconnect at a later time for no apparent reason. br>It's not a safe bet. Is it necessary for me to spend money on shipping and insurance once more? Even better, I just spent $100 on a new document camera.
