I'm quite impressed with this device; I recently scanned a 946-page book in 52 minutes. This was done at a normal pace, with some realignment as needed (more on that later). To put things in perspective, I had previously scanned the same book, which took me two days and a couple of hours per day, and the quality was nowhere near what I got here. Following my experience with this scanner, there are a few features that I would recommend to anyone considering purchasing a scanner. 1. br>br> ) When the scan is finished, there are indicators that will let you know. Red lines flash across the page when this scanner is used. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br To keep the page in place, there are thumb paddles. This scanner includes a set of yellow checkerboards that do not appear in your images. I use them to hold the page down, but instead of my thumbs, I use my pointer finger. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. ) A foot pedal, which allowed me to snap images and turn pages without having to move the book or take my hands off of it. It does, however, a good job of flattening the pages and displaying a center-of-the-page indicator on the screen. The line is drifting. Note: I advise you to keep an eye on your center-of-gravity. Every four seconds, a new line appears on the monitor. When you get to the beginning and end of the book, scan it five times. The center-of-gravity is located at these points. The line is going to move. The reason for this is due to the physical turning of the pages, not the software or scanner. br>br>B) Because the scanner lights aren't very bright, I was hoping to use it as a desk lamp as well. I've attempted to capture old black and white photos, color photos, and pages from books or newspapers with photos, but they come out off color, with poor replication, poor contrast, and a darker hue than the source image. I tried it with the supplied lighting in all modes, with and without outside lighting (i. e. , in a dark room), but it didn't work. It is not possible to improve the image quality after it has been captured. br>br>The document scanning for printed text, single and dual pages, page separation, manual and automatic capture, and handwritten text worked flawlessly. It was of excellent quality. In this case, depth was unnecessary because the goal was to capture documents rather than replicate images. br>br>Given the price, it's disappointing that it can't take good photos or images.

For my shop, this has been a game changer. I have a lot of old service manuals that aren't available in digital format and that I'm afraid will be damaged at some point in the future. I used to scan the important specs and save them to my computer using a photo scanner, but this is so much easier. br>br>I can set it to auto mode and simply flip a page with this. I have thousands of pages to scan, which I hope to complete in the coming year. This has already resulted in a significant speeding up of the process. Simply flip the page in auto mode, and it will scan the next image for you. The book/manual remains in place, and all I have to do now is keep flipping through it. When I'm finished with the manual, I simply press complete, and voila! I have a complete service manual that is indexed. When I need to look up specs on my laptop, I can take this with me on the field and search it. When I needed something in the past, I would call the shop again and have them physically look it up. br>br>This scanner has already paid for itself, and it is increasing my profit margins. The scans look fantastic, and the fact that the OCR allows me to digitally search is the most time-saving thing I've ever done. It eliminates the need for paper books!.
