Questions & Answers

Do you include a needle with this?

This one came with the needle as well. I love what you said!

You can play CD's on this device. ?

I don't have a Mac, but I do have a stylus and cartridge for analog vinyl records. You might want to research it a bit more before purchasing. Basically, I can say that it works incredibly well for what it was created for.

Could the two M blue turntables be used on a dual CS 5000?

As the Dual is fitted with a standard cartridge mounting, it will work. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend getting the Ortofon headshell (it's about 20 bucks), which will make installing and aligning the earpiece much

Do you think this would work with my Pioneer PLA- ?

It ought to be fine to use your Ortofon 2M Blue with your Pioneer record player.

On a different level below the red
5/5

The break-in process has not even commenced Having outfitted all (3) Technics SL-2000s, I sat on the sidelines for the last two years, observing the Blue from a distance. A pair of 1200MK2s and 2M Reds are mounted in the room. At the time, Reds were available anywhere for a couple hundred dollars, so I not only enjoyed the performances the Red delivered, but also knew I had the highest value. Two young children live in the house, so I felt comfortable teaching them how to use the table (how to use the cue lever, how to handle the tonearm, etc). Well, as time goes on, and you adjust to your setup, you hear more of what you're getting or missing, particularly when you go over to a friend's house that I had an issue with one of my three tables and it was the nicest, newest table of the three, so there must be a problem. Using an Ortofon protractor, I managed to get it better aligned than its neighbor who still outperformed it. I decide that enough is enough, and my birthday is coming up so I finally bite the bullet I replaced the headshell with another identical Technics (I was unable to secure the problematic Red in the old shell so it was free to move around, which my hindsight suggests was a contributing factor to some of the problems In my case, the screws used were too long and bottomed out before the cartridge could be secured fully). As the afternoon testing begins, some Bach will be heard. As a result, the needle drops and finds the groove significantly faster than on the Red, and surface noise is virtually nonexistent. In general, I find the response more lush, but I feel that the top end and very bottom are not as strong. Let the violins and piano play together, enjoying the nuance of the strings on the piano There is more vibration when they are hit with mallets, as well as the sound of the mallets impacting. Then I shake things up and start with "I Cheat the Hangman" by the Doobie Brothers and do a retro version of Stampede. There have been several times that I have heard this song, but the muted electric guitar and vocals make the track more haunting, open, and spacious. In this world, everything seems to breathe more deeply and to have As I play the title track of "One Step Closer", I grab "One Step Closer. ". Drums played in the opening have such an energy that you would think they were playing inside Then, I have a cousin over for a party and we go off the reservation for a few hours spinning complete albums, starting with Styx - Light Up The Sky This is a series of eight pieces. As you hear layers you thought weren't there until you heard "The Great White Hope", anticipation builds. Again with an urgency and sustain akin to nothing else heard before, "I'm OK" blasts through with the opening drums. Drum hits, transients, and reverb create a powerful energy that demands attention and respect. "Sing for the day" brings Tommy to the front of the mix, cutting clearly and achieving the desired effect. I was happy with the clarity of "The Message," but it missed the ABSOLUTEly low bass notes, which I assume the stylus will be able to provide more of With "Blue Collar Man", the intro vocals are clearer than ever, and the staging is so ethereal you can't make out the placement of it. *The bass drum comes through like a muted heartbeat, to great effect. * This total enjoyment continued as we listened to Tommy Shaw's "The Great Divide", a Bluegrass solo There are no frills, just smooth, honest country music the way you remember it from the old RCA Country Records. Rush's "Signals" is next on the list. The presentation of "Subdivisions" is unlike anything you've seen It is Neil Peart's drumming that stands out. Geddy and Alex know how to have a good time with each other (and with the mix) The key is to be a team, not to step on each other's toes, and let everyone's talents shine. A special mention must go to Neil's performance We are witnessing a true display of talent that cannot be missed or ignored. With its thick bass guitar and tight rhythm, "Chemistry" stands out as a standout song. Each album has an end where the mood gets semi-adventurous, and I often feel anxious as I wait for that to happen Due to inner groove distortion on the old setup, I found the sound to be terrible (again, I have two Reds on the same table model and setup and they don't experience this problem, so don't take this as a dig at As far as I can see, there is no loss other than the loss of surface area due to the CAV (Constant Angle Velocity) nature of the The evening ended with a single track from Steely Dan's "Aja", for whatever reason I felt like it - after all, I'm getting stronger all the time. It's official. I've heard the news. This time it was the drums that improved. Donald Fagen's dry delivery is so much more crisp, Walter's guitar cuts clearer, piano is more sublime. Everything sounds better and makes you want more the ultimate compliment for music lovers. I'm extremely pleased with the decision I made and the outcome. Lava lamp on, room lights off, accent lights for the tables on, growler disappearing, beer growler going into a limbo. Blue is a step up from red but can be achieved by just changing the stylus, as the cartridge is otherwise identical inside. Output impedance is the same, recommended tracking force is the same, output level seems the same, and the frequency response is wider on the high end for To be safe in case the Red cartridge itself was misaligned or faulty, I now have a spare set of things that I can throw on in a pinch in 30 seconds (now tightened with the right screws). There seems to be more depth to the Blue, which allows it to cut deeper into the vinyl and get past surface imperfections. As a result, you will hear smoother transitions between tracks as well as a cleaner overall sound. It really makes one wonder if this is truly going to be better one day, as Blue becomes I believe this cart is suitable for a wide range of applications, whether they are jazz, classical, or rock. Its design is excellent and I think they all benefit from it.

For the money, this is the best cartridge
5/5

As an upgrade from the Ortofon 2M RED, this cartridge is your best option. Highs may be crisp, but be prepared The bass is deep and well bodied, with the midrange being full and rich. In my time, I have had several cartridges at prices lower than this and at the same price. The best cartridge I have ever owned is without a doubt the best price to quality ratio. There is a lot of definition in everything. Vinyl is brought to its fullest potential by this machine. Cartridges like this one are hard to screw up. To get the best results, you need to set it up correctly with a protractor.

It's an incredible amount more accurate than my Sumiko Blue Point Special
5/5

Having received this Blue 2M today, I have been getting into it for the past few hours. I like that the Shure M 97 xe has less mid bass boominess coloration than my Sumiko and my Shure M 97. There is a lot of balance in piano music. In comparison to the Sumiko, it has deeper bass, smoother mid and high frequencies, and a bit bigger volume. Its high output is also a plus, apart from the great sound. The voltage is 5 volts. Compared to the Shure, it is only four With my Parasound P5 preamplifier, I find that the total gain and the phono levels are nearly equal in terms of As much as I wanted to get a Nagaoka MP200, after listening to this cartridge I'm sticking with the Blue for a while. Excellent cartridge. The up-vote The date is The deadline for submitting your application is April 16, 2020. Important *Note I neglected to mention one very important detail. It is important to pay attention to the rake angle. There are some turntables with tonearms that are not adjustable in It may be necessary to add a thin shim ahead of the mounting The reason for this is that I tested it on different turntables. I try to find the best angular settings for whatever I am using, whether it's an AR turntable, Sony X55S, etc. In addition to tracking force settings, rake angle can be impacted as well. The up-vote The date is Currently on 5/19/2020

It is evident that this cartridge, once damaged-will no longer be able to work This will result in a grainy and degraded sound. All kinds of adjustments have been made regarding VTA, overhang, etc. , but none of them worked. As you probably know, I tested the tool extensively on nearly all of my turntables, including AR turntables, Technic, Sony, and Luxman models. Why so many turntables, you The last time I bought a home, I refurbished it, modified it, and resold it On eBay, you can sell them. A Sumiko EVO III Blue Point once belonged to me, but I sold it on eBay because this 2M Blue attracted me. I am reevaluating my position at the moment Here's the Shure V15 cartridge I'm using. The sound is almost as good as that of the Sumiko, and, of course, much better than that of As I got back onto the Blue, I thought maybe if I gave my ears some rest, the polymer suspension would return to its original setting, but this is unlikely. It is possible for miracles to occur. On my first review I mentioned the next cartridge I would be reviewing would be a Nagaoka MP 200. It should arrive from Japan any day now.

ISSUES WITH QUALITY CONTROL / BOXES ARRIVING OUT OF BOXES
3/5

Before you exclaim in happiness after opening the box, make sure you check all the shiny stickers and seams carefully! Both times I've ordered this, the box had been previously opened (stickers peeled back, boxes with slight creases where the box had been opened previously, The sticker on the second box that arrived appeared to be glued back down, which seemed particularly As needles/cartridges have a limited life, it's important that they have not been used or played with previously.

I don't want to pay $240 for something someone else may have used. I really like those shiny, non-tamper-evident records There's a good reason for obvious stickers.

Luckily, I can see her opening up a bit more now! There is more space between notes and instruments compared to the last couple of times I listened
5/5

Blue is starting to open up nicely after a few hours and I've got about 10 hours on her now! A heightened sense of space between notes & I had never heard of those instruments before & There is nothing wrong with a bigger I like the way the bass is sounding now as well! It won't take me long to put in another 30 or more hours. A lovely red will be going on my not as often used TV in the living room! This allows me to swap back and forth between the 2 at will! I hope you enjoy the music! In The Blue, there is a lot to be revealed. The answer will be clear if you play an old, beat-up LP record! In contrast, well cared for animals can lead to a happier life If you clean your vinyl records you will experience sonic bliss! There is an old saying that says, "Garbage in, garbage out!" I'm going to use this example. I have been playing my Blue for 20 hours, and she's singing better and better This is better.
