Questions & Answers

A Sansui FR-650 is a fantastic sounding unit, but I'm not sure which cartridge will give me the best sound Would you mind if I turned the D35?

Your turntable seems to be a very nice vintage model. It is important to consider many factors when choosing a cartridge. I would also like to know what kind of speakers / receiver you have, what condition your albums are in, and what your budget is. My Technics SL-100 can be found here The turntables I use to record vinyl into digital are a Pioneer 1500 and another turntable. The Audio Technica VM 540ML is the perfect record player for those who value vinyl and wish to keep it in good condition. The tracking of this cartridge is excellent, plus its sound is neutral (not too bright), and it actually sounds much better than conical or elliptical styluses. As a result of the frequency response of the Shibata stylus, I only use it on quadraphonic records. There is a slight price premium on the VM 540ML, but it is worth the money. By listening to this cartridge, you will be able to hear all the sounds that you were missing from your records. As a result, I purchased another cart for my second turntable after I liked the sound of this one. Don't let this pass you by.

My linear tracking turntable measures the speed of the turntable in milliseconds. How useful are these tools for that purpose ?

There is no doubt that any turntable enthusiast can benefit from a precision scale. A linear turntable user, however, will probably find the protractor of little use. In spite of this, there is equal importance to the cartridge leveling gauge for linear tonearm users as there is for radial tonearm users.

Is a mirror included in the package or do you include a high-res version How does the contrast protractor work?

You'll receive the black on white high contrast protractor and the black on clear VTA gauge in this bundle. I like how easy it is to use and how well it works.

Was this protractor made by Baerwald or Lofgren?

Lofgren "A" (also known as Baerwald).

An axis block for VTA and azimuth The VTA/Azimuth block is a cheap China-made item
3/5

It works about as well as I expected for most purposes. I find it more useful as a tool to align the azimuth of the stylus' tip than a VTA tool per se. Since you'll need some kind of magnifier to perform the task correctly, the item itself is not very useful. major disappointment with this item is that it appears identical to several Chinese made versions of it you can find online for a much lower price. The company is very proud of the fact that it makes items in the U. S. However, this particular item does not meet that requirement China is a cheap place to make it, so a premium price is not worth it.

Find out where this bundle is! Like everyone else, I used to set my tonearm height by using the protractor before I got this bundle - As I viewed it from the side and relied on my best judgement to determine the true horizontal, I found that it was indeed horizontal
5/5

With the acrylic protractor, that step is no longer uncertain, as using the block as a benchmark lets you know where level is. As I had downloaded and installed an azimuth gauge, it was giving me a much better reading. My question was whether or not the spindle hole was oriented dead center on the printed piece. The solid plastic version of this bundle makes sure the paper does not curl while it is not in use. That was another issue, but now is resolved. It can be daunting setting up a turntable, however with the many good instructions available on YouTube and tools like this that can be bought on Amazon, this task is If you regularly change your phono cartridges for listening or test purposes, these tools will pay for themselves without a doubt, and all you need is a small digital scale to measure and set the tracking force. There is also a readily available version.

An essential step to making a turntable work properly
5/5

A cheap way to make sure you have the tonearm and headshell set up to your liking. It is not accurate to use your eyes without these tracer lines Taking into account the amount of detail in tracking angles for tonearms and cartridges, a smidge of a track is quite a bit. There is absolutely no doubt they have an impact on playback quality. Here's a suggestion A yellow post-it note stuck to the back of the gauge helped to make it easier to see the lines. It can be difficult to focus when the background is clear It is very easy to see thanks to the yellow background of the post-it note.

The perfect tool for the Nerd Audio enthusiast
5/5

This is a great price for two items, and it's quite essential if you have a turntable that needs to be adjusted or can be. Were you sure that you were correct? Why not take the extra time and effort? Ideally, I want my records to last a long time (as some have already!) with the least amount of wear possible to the vinyl and stylus, so I thought these would be good tools to do so. Then you may want to consider purchasing this if you're going to be swapping out head shells and nerding out on your audio investment. Although you can print a protractor, I found that getting the printer to print the right size from the image proved to be difficult. It was worth the $10 to download the pdf. To avoid having to repeat that operation again, we made the payment of $100. The peace of mind they provide is well worth the hassle of using these.

This set of accessories provided the most affordable way to get my vinyl records playing at their best
5/5

I had been shopping for accessories for the turntable and cartridge to make it easier to set up and maintain them. Using the Hudson package is easy, because it has all I need to do what I need to do. It's essential to sell turntable sets like this one with every turntable. The results are quite satisfactory to me but I am sure professionals could do a better job. Also, the company followed up via email to verify that everything went well and to hear from them if there was anything going wrong. For Christmas gifts, I'm probably going to buy a few extra sets.

The interface is very simple It is easy to set the VTA and azimuth
5/5

As far as a clear rectangular block of plastic with lines on it goes, it appears quite well made and comes in a nice storage pouch. Setting VTA is best done by ear, but the Hudson alignment block makes fast work of getting the tone arm or base parallel with the record. A few months ago, I went from a Rega P2 without a VTA This is true for the 1500c. Allowing users to easily swap cartridges is great, but also being able to quickly see and set VTA when doing so takes away one element of cartridge alignment that might otherwise be guesswork.

This tool will help you
5/5

It does the job it was designed to do well. Be sure your TT itself is level when calibrating so that it is lying on a flat surface. To calibrate, take an image with your phone and zoom in while taking the picture. The process was made As a result of adjusting my cart and arm slightly, I had to make some adjustments. There is a noticeable improvement in the low end of the sound.

I like the way it turned out
5/5

The markings are clear and the piece is accurate. It is well made and solid. I was a bit surprised by how small it is, but the size is clearly described The alignment of everything is not absolutely necessary, but if you want things to be aligned properly, then yes, that is a good thing to have! There was nothing I had to adjust on my new turntable, but it was nice to confirm that it was set up correctly at factory.
