Questions & Answers

Despite using bluetooth on my speakers, I've been unable to connect my turntable with my Sonos speakers. Is there some sort of bridge I need?

My Sonos speakers were connected to my receiver/amplifier by means of a Sonos port. Power for my phonograph comes from my amplifier. It is only the connection between your Sonos speaker and your receiver or amplifier that the port will provide power. People on Sonos' online chat have been very helpful in assisting me with the design of

Could you please tell me whether it works with YouTube music or Pandora?

I don't know about YouTube, but I believe it includes Pandora.

I will be using a receiver that only has airplay (not ap2), so I will be connecting to all the compatible devices via stereo connection. Can I do this with my two Sonos speakers?

You can connect a stereo system using RCA plugs. That is how my Port is connected to my receiver. My One is also connected directly to an amplifier for outdoor speakers with RCA plugs. Comparing the Port and the One, the Port is more robust and up to date. I wish you the best of luck!

This stream is high-resolution, or is it a low-resolution stream? The Tidal subscription I have needs to be able to be integrated with a similar service. ?

The definition of high resolution will differ depending on your needs. By using the new S2 operating system, the Port can deliver 24/44, sound quality equivalent to CD Details can be found on the Sonos/S2 website. There are several Yamaha WXC models available today. There is a 50 that claims high resolution streaming, I believe 24/192, and it is about $100 cheaper than the 60.

An upgrade from the Connect that was forced upon us
3/5

I'm forced to move to this product so my Sonos ecosystem can continue to work as it does because my original Sonos is a Despite being only 5 years old, Connect has been deprecated and is now considered Legacy. In addition, the Port here has been downgraded Materials are cheaper, there is no external button control panel, and there is no TOSLINK optical port. The DAC is supposedly improved, but I have yet to hear of anyone noticing a difference (the previous DAC wasn't stellar, but it wasn't terrible either). Compared to the previous model, this one features a smaller size and black color. It's not worth the price increase if you don't have a $100 upgrade. I have to get this device just to still be able to update any other devices I own that are connected to the same network and receive upgrades/updates. It's quite literally forced upon current sonos ecosystem users/investors to receive updates. We have lost sight of what Sonos should be. Please read the following edit It would likely catch my attention if it were priced similar to a Sonos One if so, I may own more than one in order to convert my other rooms to traditional speakers fed by one of these to secure my future. I'd be interested if it were $150, but when I consider what it is, does and more importantly what it leaves out (bluetooth, AptX, digital inputs, surface controls, high-resolution image, etc. ) I wouldn't be so sure. Considering the features (such as a retina display, headphone jack, and so on) for a modern product in 2020, I find its price to be a bit of a ripoff. There were many people who hoped for this product update from Connect for years, and there was almost no lack of feature suggestions from Connect users for an eventual new product. This is not what people were hoping for.

Is it really necessary to spend $450 on such a simple product? My old amps and speakers were something I wanted to add to the Sonos hardware lineup since I already had so many other products
3/5

The Sonos WiFi connection costs $450, so they're charging it as a dress up! In addition to the Playbar, Sub, and Amp, I have other Sonos components that are definitely pricey, but offer great value. With those three pieces and a $120 switch, I can enjoy home theater sound in one room and wireless surround sound in another There are six more speaker systems, all operated by Sonos, all synced and controlled through the Where does the price gouging come from on such a simple product that does not provide power, no sound processing, or Your phone merely lets you cast movies and TV shows to a component such as a Firestick for $40. I mean it. I do not want to pose It would be great if Sonos could respond. As an aside, here is a solution for anyone who has a Sonos Amp and wants to send the same signal to an old-fashioned amplifier An amplifier for the school. Connect the Sonos Amp output to a multispeaker switch (not expensive for 2 pairs or $100 for 8 pairs of speakers), download software that allows you to specify the speaker type Set up a level to line-level converter (about $30) on one of the switch outputs and feed line level back into Although it's kind of dumb to raise the signal to speaker level and then dump the power back down to line level, it may be worth it if you save $400+. In my current project, I am running a small in-depth research study focused on On six of the eight switch outputs, ceiling speakers are powered by the Sonos Amp, and on the last two outputs are signal level converters for my two old school amplifiers that power two full-range speakers The size of speakers (both in the backyard and in the home) In a cave. In this case, I'm using existing wiring, but it would be simple to go wireless using the line-level converted signal and a $70 WiFi transmitter over the I would like to know your price for this product, Signal level converter plus wireless transmitter is available for a total of $100 with easy searches and is almost as good as your Port product. A line out could also be added to an Amp+ product if you don't want to change your crazy Port prices. I would probably pay $150 for the plug-in. It's convenient and you control it from one app, but it's ridiculous to pay $450.

It is overpriced
3/5

It is incredibly expensive to buy a Sonos device for retrofitting a remote source into my house, especially since this is a Sonos product. The cost should be between $100 and $200 A 200-dollar bill. Considering the amps and speakers only cost slightly more than that, how is a $450 price tag I especially love it when it has only one.

Have you ever been tempted to hijack a Sonos1? This is my first Sonos system and I have four Plays The house is equipped with 1s throughout
3/5

A mono audio feed to my receiver is the only thing I need from my Sonos controller. In order to accomplish this, I could do so by buying a discontinued Connect or the new Port but both cost more than just taking apart a Play 1 and removing the signal connected to the speaker and plugging into a line level converter for $30. This would be such a pleasure if I didn't have to do it. Are there any plans to develop a control system for existing A/V systems that costs $150 or less from Sonos? As you can see, the demand is huge.

The price is absurd, but the results are While trying to pair a Bose L1 (used outside for events) with Sonos speakers inside my house, I was unsuccessful quite a bit of the time
5/5

Playing through AirPlay just messed up the delay already present in Sonos. The Sonos speakers in my house work seamlessly with my Bose external speakers (connected via RCA cables) using Sonos sync and I do not have to deal with the unreliable AirPlay+Sonos pairing any longer. While it hurts that the product prices much higher than the advertised 199$, I must admit that yes, it would have been worth it to get rid of the sync issues once and for all. ".
