Questions & Answers

What is the price of a pair of these?

The majority of NHT speakers are sold individually, packaged and priced. The Internet for Less (Brian / WiredForLess)

I am thinking about replacing an older one. These speakers are rated 5 out of 5. What is the difference between them?

Upstairs in my living room, I have a 9 speaker NHT surround system. The number two is still used by me. The five in the front, an older one in the middle, and the two you are asking about are among the super versions. In addition, I have (4) zeros, 2 old and 2 new, which can be used as It is not the perfect surround, but it blends well with the other items. NHT speakers are to my taste, as you can see. Despite being good sounding speakers, the new super ones do not have the features of 5 seconds. One of my favorite ones is The 5s are still in use The new super ones do not seem to hit the lows as well as a 1. I know they are meant for 2 channel stereo but if you were to use them for listening to it, I doubt they would have the same sound quality. While this is a fine loudspeaker, I prefer to use a bass speaker for my system to really round out the bottom end. A 2 speaker system is listening to 1 at a time. It is possible to stand on your own with a 5s. It doesn't matter what purists say listening to music in this venue is a valid experience. It's a pure joy to listen to a Marantz SR7013 nht surround system as it comes with a 1 speaker setup. It was my hope that this would help

Does a sub need to be present for these talks? The music I listen to most often is I thank you. ?

You might get away without one if you're using them close to a wall, in a room that isn't very big. Remember that low bass is very challenging for these speakers to handle, so you will definitely hear a difference in the sound quality. My headphones are in my bedroom so I do not need a sub, but I will get

Can these speakers compete with speakers that cost $500 or more Would you buy speakers that cost $1000 or would you not?

I think that's just the right way to go. I think I have finally found the sound I have been searching It is probably not possible for another speaker to do that for me. The 13 pairs of bookshelf speakers I tested ranged from $100 to $1000, but none of them held a candle to these. The way it has worked for me is strange, but at least it hasn't failed me yet. Congratulations on your new job!

I'm going to say it again OH MY GOD
5/5

There was a speaker I was waiting for and I didn't even The score is 6 out of 10. I wanted to pick up these items as a gift - I usually buy them on sale when they're on sale and have to say this I enjoyed their talk very much. I truly enjoyed listening to them. How can it be so affordable? It's been 5 weeks since I've used them daily and I feel as if I really scored big time here with this pair! Whenever I listen to my favorite music, I hear details that I have never noticed There is such sophistication and nuance to the way they present the sound. I love how polished and laid back she is. This is a warm but highly detailed style. It brings a smile to my face every time I see one of these SuperOnes. There is something refreshing about this company 1) they know what they are doing when it comes to loudspeaker manufacture, and 2) they let their product speak for themselves without wasting money on a big ad campaign, as so many hi-fi companies do. By keeping their prices low, they are selling steak and not sizzle, and I am grateful to them for this as I can now afford a speaker that sounds exquisitely rich and robust (even when powered by my 3-volt). Surely not all tube amps are made equal. This one is 5WPC (tube amp) and drips with detail like something much more expensive. This is honestly incredible! They present an absolutely unreal soundstage where you can hear instruments across the room no matter where you are in the room. I find that price very remarkable, but what makes it even better is the level of performance they bring. The congas in a track will be heard from the upper left corner of the sound stage, for example. In the middle of the James Brown jam Hot Pants, you might also notice that the chicken scratch guitar is just floating, up and down. It was only the guitar that I heard before, and I never checked that vertical movement within There are some recordings of Miles Davis' electric era that sound so much better than they do when I use, say, my Kef Q100s. I also have the Pioneer Andrew Jones bookshelves, the BIC DV-500 and the very impressive Pioneer book shelves In other words, the NHT SuperOnes aren't even in the same league as the 62CLRSs). This is a high-speed Internet connection A lot of mags and websites in the hi-fi industry and audio review industry are always looking for the latest technology. The NHT SuperOne is an unassuming but high performing speaker that's been around for years, but I bet it would stand up quite well against some of the many high definition speakers in the recent What Hi-Fi? When we look at winner of a Hi-Fi or Stereophile award, for example, we would find that they stand up well to much newer Although I do use a sub woofer to round out the bottom end, as others have noted, I use 6 speakers as well. An impressive amount of bass can be produced by a 5-inch driver. I also love the sound—it's easy going, nice, and relaxing My days off involve listening to music all day long without becoming fatigued. The KEF Q100s failed to deliver the same shrill highs (boo hiss to the Q100s) There were times when my ears were covered with handkerchiefs because the sounds were so brutal. I am looking at you, KEF, because I have been using one of those Q100s. When I mentioned companies with a sizzle to steak ratio that is out of whack, I was speaking specifically of KEF. Do yourself a favor and check these out if you are in the market for a sub 500 dollar pair of bookshelf speakers. My bet is that you will be impressed as well! Since I am so convinced of this company that I am already considering purchasing their 3 Way C series as a performance upgrade in the future. The Super One sounds like this. Can you imagine how their sho' nuff audiophile speaker would sound? Check this out = Oh Hell-Yes!.

Spock would despise them because they defy logic
5/5

SuperOne 2 still broken, still in the NHT store. The sound quality so far is good despite the fact that only one is in. Back in the day, acoustic suspension speakers were the only way to make good speakers, and "ported" speakers were laughed at. There doesn't seem to be a lot of that overemphasized bass with these sealed box speakers. When these speakers are used, the vocals sound fantastic. You can enjoy these great singers if you enjoy listening to great music. It's Nat King Cole on these babies, and he sounds great. I feels like I got a good deal for $204. This update was posted on August 8th, 2009 For the year My next purchase will be the SuperOnes. I've been using them for about 30 hours now and have been impressed with the After 30 hours, the bass is sounding a little better. It's punchy and does not interfere with the music like some speakers do. The speakers are situated in my main listening area, which is about 16 by 26 feet, and they hit with quite a bit of volume. The Elac Ub5's are currently ranked number 2, and I have no plans for changing that anytime soon. There was a comment on a review that said that the SuperOnes are great speakers for audiophiles on a budget, and I know I would agree fully. This update was posted on August 8th, 2009 For the year This is a great pair of Breaks are becoming more frequent, which improves the sound quality Currently, these are my top favorites -- and some of my speakers cost three times as much. I usually switch between 8 pairs of speakers over time. A comment I saw said that these speakers would cost less than $100, and that is not The 12-month update is available here For the year My favorite NHT SuperOne 2 is still the SuperOne It's a one. Currently, I am using the NHT's in my main listening area in conjunction with the Vincent SV-110 They are both 500 watts and make a great pair. I'd like a new speaker to go with the Vincent, because it is very bright in some recordings, and the NHT's are a bit warm, but they sound great with the Vincent, and I am looking at an NHT C3 3-way speaker already. The speaker is a 2-way bookshelf speaker. I currently own both the SuperZero and SuperOnes by NHT, and I enjoy both of them, so I opted to stick with them. In spite of that, the NHT SuperOne speakers are probably comparable to or even better than many speakers costing many times as much. I am happy to announce that update 2 is now available This year 2020 We just received a pair of NHT C3 bookshelf speakers a couple of days ago, and we're testing them out I was surprised that the SuperOne's sound was more dynamic, and that it was Until I make a decision about whether or not to keep the C3s, I am going to listen to them for several more days. It is true that the C3s have a larger soundstage and sound better at low volumes than the Ones. With the C3, the vocals are quite prominent, which is better for music where vocals are the main focus, so if you like music where vocals are the main concern, the C3 is for you. As far as instrumentals go, and specifically drums, the SuperOne's are a great option, The One's are incredibly exciting to listen to, if you are a fan. I think that the NHT SuperOnes are the best deal of the century when it comes to speakers. It is not the end of the C3's just yet, no way, because they have some great characteristics that the One's lack. In a few days, I will decide whether or not I will keep the C3's. I am happy to announce that update 2 is now available This year 2020 The NHT C3's I sent back for refund were sent back. After loving the SuperOne's so much, I thought I might like the C3's even more, but I still prefer the SuperOne's. In the event that someone ever comes over to my house and wants to know what I have in my stereo, the SuperOnes with their punchy, dynamic sound will impress them more than the C3s. As solid as a rock, the C3s were extremely well built. I liked that they had a very large sound stage and that they were loud, but I didn't like their oomph as much as Despite the audio system consisting of only aluminum drivers, it was not harsh at all. As it stands, it would be best for me to continue using the SuperOne's. I am happy to announce that update 2 is now available This year 2020 took the plunge again, and bought another pair of bookshelf speakers. I just have to see how far they can go to beat the NHT SuperOne's in terms of sound quality. We're looking at a pair of Dynaudio Emit M20's this time. As they coast five times greater than what the One's cost, they must be able to beat them, but if they cannot, then they will be left in the dust. I am happy to announce that update 2 is now available This year 2020 The Dynaudio Emit m20's have arrived, and I have been listening to them for a couple of days so far. They are definitely a pretty good sounding speaker. Speakers that are used as bookshelf speakers are pretty large. In all honesty, I appreciate the understated elegance of black satin. The sound came out hollow when I did the knuckle test on the side. My guess was that Dynaudio's would sound more like the NHT's than they do now. As with the NHT's, the Emit m20's have a very wide soundstage and come on lively and dynamic just I must have a stereo speaker with good drum sound, and the Emit m20's come close to that, and I have read that these Dynaudio speakers might take a while to break in, so I will give them a chance before I make my final decision. It's a no questions asked return policy of 60 days at the place where I got them. My biggest complaint about the Dynaudio's is that they are too bass heavy for my tastes. They are definitely capable of delivering some substantial bass, but one of my pet peeves is any speaker that is excessively bass heavy to the point of completely overshadowing the music itself. There are three Dyns on 22" stands filled with cat litter and set on two-inch concrete slabs with spiked metal feet at the bottom of each stand. At this time, the speakers are 24 inches from the floor, which seems like a reasonable height, but I would really like to have the speakers 26 inches off the floor, so I should have gotten 24 inch In my room, I have the Dyn speakers about 40" from the back wall and about 50" from the side walls, and this is the best placement I can achieve This is giving me some boominess, and I'm not happy about it. Then I will give them a couple of weeks to see if they have changed. The only down side to their sound is the boominess. If I had gone for Emit's m10s, I would have been much happier. This is Update 3 This year 2020 I tried the Dynaudio Emit M20's for about 250 hours of listening, but I decided to return them and go back to the NHT SuperOne's instead. It just sounds better to me when you use the NHTs. In spite of the fact that a $200 speaker beat a $1000 speaker, A few reasons why I think the One has a great sound are A suspension that is acoustically-adjustable. The paper cone woofer 3 is more compact. A dome tweeter with soft dome. My last resort when I want to beat the One's would be the Harbeth BBC Monitors, but they cost about $2,500 a pair. I do not know how high up the speaker tree I would have to go to best the NHT's. I am updating my blog to reflect the latest information available. This year 2020 I have now concluded that the NHT SuperOne 2 is the best product on the market at this point. I really enjoy listening to 1 on my computer. I think I have finally found the sound I have been searching Over the past two years, I've tried about 13 different bookshelf speakers, ranging up to $1000 per pair, and no one has ever made me feel like they provide me with the best As you know, sounds are very subjective and what is perfect for me might not be perfect for you, but you know when you've noticed it, it definitely stands out. The fact that I got such a strange reaction with a pair of speakers that cost me $200 is a mystery I've given up on. Thus, I just ordered a pair of Paradigm Atom SE speakers, and who knows? Maybe it'll turn out to be the perfect sound for me! The outcome of that will be reported to you.
