The r-Klipsch is a type of r-Klipsch that is used in the The 15pm speakers are great speakers and sound great, but they require a sub to get that bass punch. The Edifier S1000db speakers, on the other hand, do not require a sub and sound fantastic on their own, with rich full bass and clarity.

Do I need a receiver for these, or can I just plug them in and use the Bluetooth on my phone?

It's as simple as plugging them in; there's no need for a receiver.

Are these speakers a step up or a step down from the edifier r2000db?

The edifier s1000db is a more advanced version of the edifier r2000db. Bluetooth connection is of higher quality, and the sound is much more powerful.

Is there a way to switch to Bluetooth on the fly without having to use the remote?

Before I give my opinion on these speakers, I'd like to provide some background information - I have a pair of Edifier 1700s and a Klipsch RF-2000. 82's, Audioengine's A5, and a slew of other speakers ranging from mid- to high-end speakers of the highest audiophile caliber All of my vehicles (including my wife's) have full component speakers that are separately amplified, and I consider myself to have a fairly good ear for quality. br>br>Having said that, for the price of 349, I was expecting a lot from these. 99, especially considering they're almost three times the price of my 1700's (which are great for the size). br>br>Unboxing is a term used to describe the process of removing a product from its packaging. They were beautifully packaged! br>br> They arrived in an Amazon box, which was then followed by the outer edifier protector box, and finally the box containing the speakers. You could literally throw these speakers around and they'd be safe inside three boxes, so even a delivery driver would have a hard time damaging them. Edifier went above and beyond by double-boxing it (and Amazon went above and beyond by putting it in yet another box!). br>br>Quality of Construction - br>br>The build quality on these is incredible for the price; it's on par with, if not better than, my Klipsch or Audiogene speakers, the attention to detail is superb, and the fit and finish is flawless. I was worried that the wood would be too "Oaky" for my taste based on the picture, but the color was much warmer than it appeared in the photos, which was a pleasant surprise. These things are heavy! Even without the amplifier, the speaker is quite heavy for its size, as they did not skimp on material or construction quality in the cabinet. The only thing I don't like about it is that there are no grill tabs around the tweeter, which makes it feel flimsy. br>br>The remote control works well and is a significant upgrade over the plasticky remote that came with my 1700s. It has a slight weight to it and almost feels like it's made of aluminum. The fact that cables are included is also a nice touch. A Toslink optical cable is included, as well as three other accessories. Auxiliary input from 5MM to RCA, as well as RCA's The cable connecting the speakers is extremely long and of excellent quality. br>br>Quality of Sound - Isn't that what it's all about? br>br>Isn't that what it's all about? I've heard a lot of speakers and, as previously stated, own quite a few, and all I can say is that they're fantastic. Even if these speakers were $499, I still think they'd be a great deal, which is saying a lot coming from me, given that I'm a cheapskate who is always on the lookout for a bargain. br>br>The highs, mids, and lows are all flawlessly blended together. The tweeters aren't shrill; instead, they have a very neutral and natural sound. Most speakers (especially self-promoters) seem to me to be stumbling blocks. These S1000DB's do both exceptionally well, and with clarity that you don't find in this price range. br>br>In my listening room, which is a little biased to help the lower end, with corner placed speakers and listening area in the back center, the frequency response in the lower end helps the low's a bit acoustically. These dug a lot further than they said they would. Edifier's response time has been reduced to 48 seconds. I put them to the test and they stayed stable down to 37HZ - 3DB! That is truly incredible, especially given their size (5. 5" Woofers), and it's even more remarkable given how well it handles the lows while also sounding great in the mids. br>br>They get quite loud, and I would consider them to be very efficient speakers. I don't think I'll ever turn them up past 75%, so plenty loud for me. Even at maximum volume, they sound flat and undistorted. br>br>There were almost no drawbacks to these for me. A To edifier for making these affordable while maintaining high sound and build quality.

I spent some time reading reviews of various speakers at various price points before deciding on these because they seemed to receive nearly universal praise while remaining well within my budget. Buying moderately priced speakers without first hearing them or knowing if they'll work with your setup poses a risk. This was possibly the best risk I've ever taken when it came to Amazon purchases. These are truly incredible speakers. They're a great deal at this price point (just under $350). br>br>In my case, the setup is a simple three. On a large desktop, I used a 5mm jack (included) to connect my laptop. A graphic equalizer that came with my computer is what I use. On the back of the 'active' right speaker, there are also bass, treble, and volume knobs that you can adjust as needed. There is an optical port, as well as the traditional RCA inputs and a coaxial input. The speakers are Bluetooth compatible, and you'll need the latest software to get the most out of them, though the seller said they'll pair with any device that supports A2DP in response to a quick question about backwards compatibility. I had intended to put this to the test, but I was so pleased and impressed with the 3. I haven't felt compelled to bother with the 5mm direct input. The set includes a small remote that controls volume, mute, and power as well as switching between inputs; the active right speaker changes color depending on the input. The speakers are built to a high construction standard with high quality materials and are appropriately heavy (as all good quality bookcase speakers should be). Edifier, as far as I can tell, is a Chinese firm. While we're all used to seeing 'Made in China' on just about everything, buying something made in China by a real Chinese company gave me a sense of satisfaction. br>br>After using these speakers for about a month, I'll second what others have said: you can listen to old and well-known music through these speakers. established favorites on these devices and be blown away by the level of detail in the music you've been missing out on. They do a fantastic job of picking out individual instruments and components in the music with great clarity while not overpowering the overall sound. I occasionally listen to music with a lot going on at once, and these speakers handle it all with great poise and balance between high treble and low, pounding bass, so nothing gets distorted and there's no odd processed sound like I've heard with Bose products in the past. Power should not be an issue for the vast majority of users. Your neighbors, on the other hand. br>br>To sum it up, you get the impression that these speakers were designed with a high regard for music, allowing the listener to fully explore each individual part and instrument. What else can you say honestly? You won't be disappointed, I promise. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After more than four years, it is still running smoothly. Whatever you throw at these, you'll get excellent audio quality.
