These won't work with an iPad. These are passive speakers, which means they need to be powered/amplified by an amplifier or an AV receiver. Then you'd connect your iPad to an amp/receiver's input.

The price is for a single speaker, not a pair. To get a pair of speakers, you'll need to buy two.

Quality and price are both surprising

Excellent value for money! They were easily comparable to speakers twice the price, and I had them hooked up to a $200 MP tube amp and a $99 Polk sub from the amp's preamp out in minutes. For the price, the quality is absolutely incredible. I'm not sure how they do it, but Polk put a significant amount of money into the speaker cases, which look fantastic in walnut with built-in sub outlets at the bottom, delivering surprisingly clear and powerful low frequencies while also adding a sophisticated look. I initially ran them without the separate subwoofer and almost mistook the sub for being turned on. I don't see why you'd want to upgrade to the S60 (the S55 is plenty big enough) - especially if a separate sub is used.

Fatcor Gets Wife's OK! For my new home theater setup, I needed to find a pair of front left and right channel speakers. The aesthetics of these speakers appealed to me, and more importantly, they appealed to my wife. For my 5, I ordered two S55s for front left and right, as well as an S30 to round out the front sound stage. There is only one setup available. They have a fantastic appearance and sound. I gave it a four-star rating because I'm sure there's something better out there, and I'm not an audiophile, so I'm hesitant to give it five stars. However, they're perfect for my needs.
