In short, yes. When you closely monitor the weather stations and local radio, you will have plenty of time to prepare to leave before the hurricane happens. You should follow the instructions of your local authorities in an evacuation.
All of this is determined by where you are. NOAA signals can be picked up very well here on two separate frequencies. When I am receiving two others faintly, I am sometimes able to hear them. According to NOAA, transmitters transmit a signal out to a radius of 40 miles, covering 95% of the Continental United States. If you are among the 5% not covered, you could be out of luck. In addition, the transmitters can go down during a storm, power outage, upgrade, or an upgrade.

Selected User Reviews For Retekess PR15 Pocket NOAA Weather Radio, AM FM Weather Radio Portable, Little Transistor Radio Powered by AAA Battery for Walking, Camping (Silver Black)
I've found that this is the smallest radio I've seen that has a weather band. I'd recommend going slowly while tuning to give the radio a chance to "lock on. ". The tuning is a bit finicky because of this, but once the radio achieves a good signal, the red LED lights up and it stays on the channel for a while, so it won't drift off as some analog pocket radios do. Although the telescopic antenna is extended, a good reception is still obtained on AM and FM bands. The battery life of the radio seems to be good, as I left it running all night with 2 AAA rechargeable Eneloop batteries, and in the morning the radio was still working. The foremost reason for my choice of this particular radio was the weather reception, as I was able to tune into my local NOAA Weather Radio station when severe weather was forecast. As I was surprised to find out that it could pick up not only my local station but high-frequency traffic as well, I was not disappointed It is possible to be 75 miles away from a power station. It should be noted that this radio does not offer weather alerts. The weather radio can be tuned in and alerts will be received, but there is no alarm to wake you up, as is found on NOAA weather There were 400, 4 (162), and 162. (7, 162), respectively. In addition, the 550) are the top Channels 1 and 3 are power channels while channels 4 and 5 are smaller local stations.
Neither was I paid nor have I been offered anything in exchange for My only other radio is a Tecsun r9012 and I was looking for something even smaller to fit into my backpack when I go hiking. While the sun was in the sky, the AM band picked up all the local stations in my area (Phoenix) during the day and was able to pick up stations over 800 miles away (Dallas Texas and Lexington Nebraska) once the sun set. This little radio doesn't seem to miss a beat even if I live in an apartment complex with many variables causing interference. There is a lot of sound coming from the speaker. It is not surprising that the sound quality would be that of a radio the size of an Altoids On an element so small, the presence of a camera is more of a luxury. With the FM band, this phone works well as an antenna, and the jack for the headphones also works as one. It surprised me that a radio with a weatherband could be purchased at this price point, and it does what it is meant to do. am probably going to buy more as gifts for my family and friends. A brief update Had issues with their receiver and got in touch with their customer service team. The response was fast, and they sent me a new one within a couple of days. Although the radio still receives 5 stars* for its price, ease of use, and portability, I still give it 5 stars. As well as their customer service department, they deserve 5 stars!.
The pocket radio is nice. It is a fantastic bonus to have NOAA. The radio I received today was a gift from my husband. Here are my initial thoughts, keeping in mind the price tag. My initial thought of this product was that it would be very sturdy. In fact, the sound quality is a little better than the Kaito KA-1000 I have There is an impressive difference between this and the Retekess because the Kaito has a slightly larger speaker and takes "AA" batteries instead of the Retekess' "AAA" batteries. There is one negative I have noticed, and that is that it takes a second or two to lock onto a station, but once it does, reception is terrific. As for the long-term quality, I cannot speak at the moment, but you do get what you pay for, so we'll see how it goes. This is a great deal for the cost and an almost outstanding product.
Radios like this are a great value for what they are. As much as I want to leave a three star rating, I almost feel guilty. You shouldn't buy a radio for less than $20 if your goal is to get good sound. The AM band as well as NOAA band can be heard on this. When I'm out and about during the NFL season, I always have this in my pocket. In addition to keeping it in my backpack when I'm camping, I'll also take it on hikes. Small FM/AM/NOAA radio that is probably the best value out there.
Radios of micro size are some of the best ever made. This AM station performs exceptionally well and the FM station is also very good.
The sound is like a big radio when you play it through earphones.
I am able to get news from 3 weather stations.
A few minutes later, this little gadget turned into a disappointment. Ultimately, I ordered this as well as the Vondior 300WB, which was the clear Even though the Retekess PR15 fits in my hand, it does not have a comfortable feel due to its Having the antenna extended makes this device bulky and bulky, and no longer portable or small enough to carry around in your pocket. I had no luck receiving any weather bands using the antenna once it was plugged in. Then I tried FM, and when I turned the volume up, it became distorted, so I had to back it off. During my exploration of this unit, I realized that I like a digital tuner better. point, I had completely lost interest, began the return process, removed my batteries, and began the process of replacing them.
I give it two thumbs up. It took me a minute to realize that the radio sucked at first. It's just incredible! That was a huge mistake I made. To cute is this radio. It seems like the retekess went with a radio that is not very loud, but I see where they went. It gets two out of five stars from me. A radio like this would fit well in a small Throughout the room, the sound envelops us. What a great idea. Stereo headphones are plugged into the jack. I can't believe that a dollar headphone has such incredible stereo. Put a bose head set on this friendly radio and you'll get a spectacular sound. The noise would make me lose my mind. I was blown away by the stereo on this little radio. I am in love with The radio of your choice is a solid choice. What a great idea. Crystal clear sound can be heard throughout the recording. It's hard for me to pick up just one radio station. The short answer is yes. This radio is available to you if you have it. I think you made the right decision. In light of that, it has to be said that Amazon made a good move on this My sincere thanks go out to It's a test. Thank you for your help. The Amazon website.
Todderbert's review and recommendation on YouTube led me to purchase this radio. A good weather band radio for the money. It is among the cheapest weather band radios on the market. Considering how small it is, the radio had fantastic FM reception. Compared with comparable models, the antenna is longer, which may have made a difference. The FM stations in my radius of 70 miles were all picked up. Good reception can be found on AM. It was possible to pick up over 400 miles away stations clearly, while 50,000 watt stations were still heard about 700 miles away, but not clearly enough to work There are 2 weather stations on the band both are clear enough for weather alerts, but with some static. A solid build quality can be found here. There is a lot of tinniness and flatness in the speaker. The Prunus J-shaped is better than some of this size, but not as good as some smaller ones A 777 speaker is used in the program. In general, this is a good very small radio, particularly if you need a.
