Besides the fact that it has a place to charge my phone, I like the fact that it has a variety of other functions as well. The unit appears to be good for emergencies, as it appears to pick up stations. The sound quality is not the best, however, it is still better than the one I had The crank takes a long time to wind before it generates power, and to me that is one of the drawbacks. That's a cool little radio for an emergency! This is a fantastic addition to any go bag for me. I like everything about it.
Our company purchased this multifunction solar-powered system in order to go in place of a hand powered radio/weather alert/light system, because the older device did not have a solar panel charging feature or a USB port for charging your cell phone. Luckily, I have not yet needed to use it (other than turning it on to see if the radio and the cell phone charging capabilities function). Considering hurricane season is just around the corner (US east coast), this may be the perfect time to use this tool. Up until the point that it proves it can't be supported, I am giving the manufacturer the benefit of the doubt regarding their product. Any updates to this review will be made if a problem arises. In addition, if something inevitably comes up that details a feature that, without it, makes survival or even simple comfort significantly more difficult, I will also update this review to show off that feature.
It's of good quality, the size is right, and it performs well.
In case of emergency, it is a great tool.
