Questions & Answers
I would be wary of purchasing a TomTom that was previously registered to another person's email address. br>I have three older Tomtom GPS units, each of which required a separate email address for registration. br>I'm not sure, but switching email addresses may result in you losing the Lifetime Map and Lifetime Traffic features. br>Before purchasing, I would go to Tomtom's website and look up "transferring email addresses."
I was able to use my old dashboard mount with no issues.
Yep . When I don't follow directions, it always tells me to turn around as soon as possible. The feature I like best, however, is when it tells me whether I've arrived at my destination on the left or right, depending on the case. Tom Tom is an excellent choice. They were purchased for my entire family, and we are all very pleased with them.
No, I don't believe that is true. However, you can verify this by contacting TomTom customer service (google). br>I live in Florida and used the TomTom to travel to California, where I drove for a week from San Francisco to Los Angeles, making numerous stops along the way. This GPS has made my life a lot easier. was absolutely correct.

They advertise free lifetime maps but fail to mention that the manufacturer adds an extra $130 to the price. 00 for the maps to be updated by the computer driver. Because the manufacturer stopped updating the maps for that model, I was replacing my current TomTom GPS, which also provided free lifetime map updates and was still working perfectly. As a result, a replacement GPS is required. I'm going to return this item - The overall cost of owning this device is not worth it.
Last month, however, I discovered that my 9-year-old XL IQ with "lifetime" maps was no longer supported, and as a result, I was unable to obtain the "lifetime" maps - It begs the question of how one defines a lifetime. Regardless, I figured I'd gotten nearly a decade of use out of the device and would replace it with something similar while sticking with TomTom, a brand I'd trusted in the past. I purchased the VIA 1525SE because it appeared to have all of the same characteristics (size, functionality, "lifetime" maps, etc. ) and it arrived quickly. I charged it and then used it to update the maps on my computer. br>First, a file known as NAV4 needed to be updated. It took nearly ten hours to complete the first update. The device restarted and began updating the maps through MyDrive Connect for the first time. It gave an estimated download time of 2 hours for the first time. It timed out at 3 Rinse and repeat for another two hours, then time out. br>After an entire weekend of trying to get the maps to finish, I gave up and restarted the device, only to find that it had no maps installed. I looked around TomTom's website for help and was repeatedly directed to their forums; I tried emailing them, but the "submit" button just refreshed the screen. I finally found a phone number and dialed it, only to be greeted by a scripted young lady who could do nothing but repeat herself. Finally, I was able to get MyDriveConnect to stop automatically updating and briefly display "MyContent," where I discovered the message that the drive was corrupt. br>Finally, I was able to get MyDriveConnect to stop automatically updating and briefly display "MyContent," where I discovered the message that the drive is corrupt. "Repair" and "Uninstall" were both greyed out when I tried them. There isn't enough file space to allow for a download, unfortunately. br>I called them again, and they directed me to the forums - where a regular Joe Blow might be able to provide me with the information that the manufacturer couldn't. What kind of assistance do you mean? I guess it's genius; they don't have to hire technical help and can simply delegate the task to the keyboard warriors for free, and if it fails, they can blame it on the failure of the keyboard warriors. They're able to maintain complete secrecy. br>I need to find another GPS company that I can trust now; TomTom will never be one of them.
Useless. This item is completely new! When I connected it to "my drive connect" to update it, the screen went completely black. It was put on ice. I'm unable to make use of it. I attempted all of TOMTOM's suggested fixes. Nothing has worked in the past. There is no support for Tomtom. When you turn it on, the map appears on screen, but it freezes after the drum roll sound. It functioned properly until I connected it to the TomTom App. I'm now $120 in the hole. and it's a waste of time. The VIA1625TM 6 Inch GPS Navigation Device from TomTom is the product.
Display is 6" in size, which is a nice size. The problem is what you can and can't show! br>br>One of our favorite uses for our GPS is as a digital speedometer. However, unless you're following a pre-programmed route, you won't be able to see your speed or the current speed limit on this TomTom. If you are simply driving around and know where you are going and how to get there, your speed and speed limit will not be displayed unless you first play around and program in some sort of route, as confirmed by a call to TomTom Customer Support. br>br>Previously, we had a Garmin. We had more display options and a more appealing display format even on a 5" display. br>br>All I want is for Amazon to take this back and refund my money. br>br>Documentation only provides minimal support. The available user manual's generalizations do not all apply to this most recent version.
new new. Having previously owned a Tomtom navigation device. This one is a let down. br>br>1 touch screen is slow; you press a button and nothing happens; you then press the button again. Then all of the letters appear, and you have to backspace and start over! br>br>2 The new unit will begin with an address search in the United States and then narrow it down from there. br> My state (Tomtom) was already programmed into the old unit, along with the cities I frequented. br>br>3 The right-hand info bar is too wide, taking up about a third of the screen all of the time except when turning. br> The old unit was about 1/2" thick, and I had no trouble seeing my traffic alerts. br>br>4 The new unit requires you to press a small menu button to begin prompts, and it only shows you three at a time. br> The old unit required you to press any part of the screen and it showed you six at a time. br>My unit is being returned to Amazon, and I will review other products more thoroughly in the future.
Upgrade fails after 5 hours, and traffic is unavailable. At least two hours are required for the download. After 5 hours, the upgrade failed, and the cycle of "download to upgrade" began again, with each cycle taking between 2 and 3 hours. The Traffic feature does not work between 5 and 3 hours. It's a good price, but I'm disappointed that it doesn't work.
