I got the original Carlinkit, not the updated version. br>I've reached out to the seller, but have yet to receive a response. When I hear back from them, I'll update this review. br>When it works, this device is fine. It has a habit of losing contact with the iPhone. When I try to make voice activated calls, the Carlinkit will just reset itself and then take the usual 30 seconds to reboot it. br>About half of the time when I try to play music from my iPhone, the Carlinkit does not respond to voice commands. Most of the time, manually selecting music via the car's touch screen works, but it occasionally does not. br>It would be a fantastic accessory if it worked consistently, but it doesn't. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> This is a version 2, according to the seller. 0 of their older style, which works in the same way as their newer style.

I was a little hesitant to buy this product because I had read in my research that they are extremely picky. a pain However, in the three days that I've been using it, I've found it to be quite useful. It takes about 10 seconds for the connection to be established. In fact, I'm not even aware of it. Everything appears to be in working order. When I change songs on ApplePlay, there is a very slight lag time. When I press the steering wheel button, I become aware of it. However, I haven't tried the screen button. It's not a major issue. I like that I don't have to use a wired connection anymore. I'm free to shut down my computer. I prefer simple designs with straight lines. I'm not a fan of wires all over the place.

Because of the mixed reviews, I was hesitant to purchase it, but I decided to take the risk and try it. The worst-case scenario is that I return it to you. It arrived today, and I immediately put it to use. It was ready to use right out of the box. I turned the car off several times to ensure that it would connect, and it did. So far, the only disadvantage I've noticed is the unit's high temperature. I'm concerned that it will overheat and burn out, or worse, damage my vehicle. br>br>I'll update the review if anything changes, but I'm really excited to be free of the cables.

I'm using it in a 2021 TT RS with no problems; it ran two or three software updates on the device upon initial installation, and it's been working fine since then. I leave my iPhone in my pockets, and as soon as I get into my car, the connection is automatically established. CarPlay is compatible with iOS 15 as well.

There is a slight lag, but it is almost unnoticeable; I believe I am only aware of it because others have mentioned it. It connects fairly quickly; many people have complained about this, but it takes about 10 seconds after my head unit has finished booting up. The only issue I can see, and the reason I'm giving four stars, is that every now and then (at least once per song), I get a brief cut out, as if the Bluetooth connection was disrupted or something. It's only a few seconds long, and I doubt most people will notice. It might sound like a small crackle. I'm satisfied with it in general.

As others have mentioned, there is some loading time when you first get into your vehicle, but it is barely noticeable. Using Siri on any app is the same as using it on a wired device; there is no difference. It's simple to set up. Connect it to your phone via Bluetooth and you're ready to go. and-done. The only thing that concerns me is that "updating" online via your phone does not appear to be very secure; fortunately, I did not need to update it right now. br>br>Highly recommended!.

It sounds and works fine; there is a brief pause before it connects to your phone, but it is still preferable to plugging it in. On my mk6 gti, I used it with an RCD330 radio. My complaint is that ever since I started using the dongle, whenever I use Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze, the app loses track of my location and thinks I'm going backwards / struggles to pinpoint my location. This problem goes away when I unplug the dongle and reconnect to a wired CarPlay connection. In addition, I've already updated the dongle according to their directions. Maybe there's a problem with the GPS antenna and the CarPlay adapter. It works around 80% of the time in either case.

Simply plug it in, wait for the adapter to connect, and it will function as if it were plugged directly into the iPhone. My only criticism is that it does not always connect, and it does not connect as quickly as the direct wire method does. In most cases, all that is required is a quick unplug and replug. However, those looking for a wireless option for Toyotas in 2021 should consider this option.
