Optimus GV75MG Waterproof Wired GPS Tracker for Motorcycles, Boats, Machinery, Assets

To be continued- After a few months of use, it has risen to the top. Nothing less than astonished. When the car is parked, it sends a motion alert to my phone, even if the vehicle is cornered too hard. It also reports vehicle speed, location down to 20 feet accuracy, and even when the trunk is opened, it sends a motion alert to my phone. It'll even notify you if it loses GPS signal while driving through a tunnel (or someone loading your $100,000 car onto a metal box trailer!). )
The units perform 100% the same as the day 1! I'd buy from them again in a heartbeat. br>br>After carefully weighing the advantages and disadvantages of several GPS trackers (e. g. Amazon reviews, purchase price, monthly fees, ease of setup and installation, removable or hidden, features like impact, acceleration, deceleration, ignition on/off/parked notification), lifetime warranty! )br>I narrowed it down to the Optimus and a similar, well-reviewed unit on Amazon. After reading several pages of reviews for both units, I decided to go ahead and purchase them. Although the optimus device appeared to have more features I was looking for, it appeared to have a few complaints about accuracy and units that died quickly, discharged, or ruined the vehicle charging system? I began to suspect that the reviews were either fictitious or deliberately negative by a competitor. As a retired aerospace engineer and car enthusiast, I know that a GPS tracker that only draws 100 milliamps is not even close to being possible. (BATTERIES FOR CARS ARE 400-500 mAh. ) 700 AMPS WITH 100 AMP ALTERNATORS APPROXIMATELY 200 AMPS) As a result, these tiny devices are incapable of causing any harm to a vehicle's system. Even if a wire were to directly short out, a fuse would be blown! Also, since optimus claimed to have many commercial fleets using their product, it didn't make sense to offer a lifetime guarantee if their products died quickly. UPS, FedEx, and other commercial fleets can't have malfunctioning gps systems for their fleet; it wouldn't last long, and optimus would be out of business. As a result, I called both of the companies I was considering to inquire about their customer service. 1 refused to take my calls and instead directed me to send an email requesting assistance and wait for a callback. I don't have that kind of time or patience (both of which are in short supply in the twenty-first century). The other company (optimus) not only answered every call, took calls until 10 p. m. est on three occasions, was friendly/helpful/knowledgeable, and even went to meet with their engineer to discuss implementing a custom software modification, so my device's sensors could detect light impacts/tampering while parked. I was surprised that they accommodated my request and that it only took 10 minutes for them to remotely update the software on my devices from another state over the air using a cell signal! br> The photo I posted shows my optimus gv75 built-in device being updated and tested before being installed on my cluttered work bench, to ensure that the tamper sensor modifications were in the ballpark. First time out, everything went as planned! br>As soon as the unit was turned on, it sent me emails and texts from my gv75 device, alerting me to the fact that it was powered on and updating its location, after a quick 1 minute app download and 2 minute registration process on the optimus website. And this was all happening inside my metal roof garage, where no one can even hold a phone conversation without dropping a call! br>However, because I was still skeptical after reading the negative reviews, I continued to test it for another 2 hours and shook it a dozen times to make sure the sensitvity functions worked as expected. br> I noticed that accuracy is good down to about 50 feet, which later optimus support explained was due to the metal roof preventing some satellites from communicating to provide the exact location. br> I was very impressed, and I intend to buy more obd2 plug-in versions for family members who are unable to hardwire theirs in. br> I don't usually write reviews, but I felt this product deserved a more thorough assessment. br>With a minor modification to the opimus device, it is now not only a gps locator/tracker and speed sensor, but also a security device with built-in battery backup that will alert me if the ignition is turned on, the vehicle power is disconnected, or the vehicle is impacted or tampered with while parked! br>No other gps tracker (that I could find) has these features, as well as a lifetime replacement warranty, fantastic customer service day or night, and your own engineer to customize your device in the blink of an eyebr>(the last benefit, I'm sure, will have its limitations, lol)! br> I'm sold on their product, and based on my experience with A support, I wouldn't be surprised to see this company expand in this area. br> I'm not affiliated with the company, and I wasn't paid in any way to write this review. br>I hope this review has been of assistance.

As a precautionary measure, I purchased this tracker for one of my trailers. The tracker's size and construction, as well as the ease with which it can be set up, appeal to me. For the cost of the unit and subscription, it provides good overall value. It does, however, have a few flaws. The GPS accuracy, for starters, is abominable. I get 50 alerts about the trailer moving while it sits in my yard, and the map shows it moving 25 miles per hour. 50 feet. I understand that GPS signal accuracy varies depending on conditions, but they should make a setting that prevents the trailer from alerting until it moves more than 300 feet from its parked position. 500 feet. The app is still in its early stages of development. It has some nice report options, but it would be nice to see an odometer on the main screen as well as programable mileage alerts. In addition, after reviewing a loged position point, I constantly (accidentally) press the button that takes you to Apple / Google maps. Finally, there is battery life. I like that there is a backup battery in case the trailer's main battery fails, but it should be larger. It'll be over in three minutes. 5 days parked plus a day if the trailer was moving equaled 2 days. I'd like to see a larger battery, and I'd be willing to pay a little more for all of these upgrades.

I wanted something that was unobtrusive, functional, and affordable on a monthly basis, as well as something that would work well on the boat. This was hard wired to one of the batteries and installed under the center consul facing up. It works perfectly. A Geo fence, motion alerts, or simply tracking a path are all simple to set up. It could easily be used in a vehicle to keep an eye on your teen driver, or for asset tracking, as I do with my boat, which is stored away from home and appears to be stolen frequently. What I like about it is that if the batteries on the boat are removed, this unit has a good backup battery and only uses power when pinging the internet. I believe I paid around $100 for two years of coverage, which is a good deal. I strongly advise it.

Once charged and activated, the device is ready to track right out of the box. It's simple to use both the app and the PC. The GV75's motion detector is sensitive; testing in a car that was disconnected from power revealed that simply getting in or out of the car was enough to trigger "movement alert" if it was set up. If the alarm is triggered, it is set up on the bike to send a "Text Alert," remotely disable the ignition (output 1), and disable and enable the alarm (output 2). br>br>Tech support was excellent, responding to emails within a few hours during customer service hours. br>Fernando was able to give me control of both outputs via a PC and an Android app.

I'd like to compliment you on your excellent customer service. On the day before Thanksgiving, I posted a question and received a response within two hours. System activation was simple, and installation was simple, though not as simple as it could have been because I had to disassemble the dash to place it behind it.
