Is there a case for it?

Hi there! No case. This device includes a clip system for attaching the PLB to various locations.

Is it possible to use this product in the Bahamas? Is this something that happens all over the world?

Yes. It will be effective all over the world.

What's the best way to power it up?

It is not necessary to charge these units. If they are not used, they will last for 5 years. If you do decide to use them, we will replace it free of charge once you have submitted your survivor story.

How long will the battery last and how much will it cost to replace?

ACR (manufacturer) has just given me a quote of $157 for a two-year contract. To replace the battery in my ResQLink, I had to pay for shipping both ways. (March 20, 2021).

ORBITAL SATCOM CORP SHOULD NOT BE BUYED FROM
3/5

If you notice that this beacon is being sold by a company called 'Orbital Satcom Corp,' you should be concerned. BUY IT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! When we attempted to set up our beacon, our satellite registration was rejected. Orbital Satcom Corp is illegally refurbishing beacons from the United Kingdom, according to ACR (the manufacturer) and the NOAA. In the United States, the beacon is not functional. br>I've alerted Amazon about Orbital Satcom Corp, but I'm concerned that more of these illegal beacons are out there. When my family and I are boating, we rely on this beacon to keep us safe. We were fishing off the coast with no cell service, which was terrifying because we would not have been rescued if there had been an emergency. Please, please, please don't waste $375 on a life-saving, emergency product that has been illegally reprogrammed and will not function!.

The warranty provided by ACR is not honored
3/5

I got a brand-new sealed unit in the mail. Finished the self-assessment test - failed right away. ACR was initially helpful, but later informed me that all of their inventory is being used to fill new orders, and they have no idea when they will be able to provide a replacement. If you buy one and it breaks down, you'll have a hard time getting a replacement under the warranty. On safety equipment, this is unacceptably dangerous.

Battery
3/5

The product was delivered on time, but the battery was only 4 years and 3 months old. Don't advertise a battery that lasts 5 years if it doesn't last that long.

Both the good and the bad are present
4/5

I like having the assurance that as long as I don't die, I can summon assistance. I bought my first one five years ago because it was very simple to use. The bad news is that this is my second one; the first one was returned because it was already six months old, and they only last five years. I kept the second one, but it's also six months old.

'Dead On Arrival' is a film about a man who arrives However, it was brought back to life! This was a gift from my family
4/5

After registering the device, I attempted to perform the "Basic Self Test" that they recommended. The "Self-Assessment" test was not passed by the unit. Test". I've reached out to ACR for help. I'll keep this updated based on their responses. So, to bring this review up to date. It took ACR about a month to send me a replacement unit, which passed both the basic self test and the gps test, so I'll raise my rating, but my faith in this unit has been shattered because I'm not the only one who has had a brand new unit fail the "Basic Self Test. ".

There's a stumbling block
3/5

1/31/21 So far, it hasn't been determined whether it's a GPS PLB or not. It might work as a drawer handle because, well, it's a drawer handle! br>br>Recently updated: We got the device, and it's exactly what we expected. After returning the drawer handle, there was a brief pause.

I hope I never have to use it because it appears to be well-made and compact
5/5

I decided to go with the slightly more expensive option. PLB 425 . It has a nice screen that lets you know the unit is on and working right away. (I've only used it for testing purposes. ) It comes with a carrying case, but I haven't used it yet. You can use a Velcro loop to attach it to something or attach it to your belt. Orbital Satcom Corp. was where I got mine. a piece of clothing from the United Kingdom The labels on my first unit were faulty - The date of manufacture was missing, so I couldn't register it for the warranty with ACR. Both Orbital Satcom and ACR were contacted. A new unit was delivered to me. The issue has been resolved. Check the unit's label as well as the label on the box. Make certain the date of manufacture is visible.
