Since I purchased my Surface Pro 3 in 2014, this is my ***fifth*** type cover. This keyboard was brand new in the box when I received it today. It's a different model than the previous four, but the keys have the same mushy 'feel' as the one it just replaced (which only lasted three months before breaking down). Some of the keys on this one, like the previous (fourth), require a very hard press to activate them. br>br>The other three type covers were different models (two were Surface Pro 4 with fingerprint reader, and the first one came with the Surface), and they each lasted six months to a year. My Surface is used on a daily basis but not in a demanding manner, so there's no reason for the short lifespans other than poor quality. In terms of battery life (just over a year each) and keyboard feel (nice), the two Surface Pro 4 with fingerprint readers were the best of the bunch. These are also the priciest type covers I've seen. br>br>I don't want to buy one of the aftermarket bluetooth keyboards/covers, but at $100-$150, I can't say no. I've spent far too much money on Microsoft crap, as I've paid $150 each for the five type covers I've had so far. EDIT: br>br> Occasionally, the trackpad will stop working. I just received a return label (which barely fit through the window) - This will be returned to you.
As a birthday present for my boyfriend, I received this keyboard cover with the Surface Pro. The box containing the keyboard had already been cut open and was covered in dust and dirt when I received it. I was mortified at the prospect of giving this to my boyfriend as a present, but I didn't have a choice because his birthday would have passed by by the time I filed a return and purchased another one. I gave him the option of returning it and getting a (real) new one or keeping it and cleaning it off if it worked after he opened it. He double-checked that it functioned properly before deciding to keep it after cleaning it. br>br>However, it's inconvenient that I paid for a brand-new item only to receive one that is clearly not. br>br>Three stars because the product works fine, but the condition in which it was delivered to me was extremely disappointing.
This is a fantastic cover with the keyboard. When I was traveling, I thought I'd need an extra cover, but the padded portion of my briefcase, combined with this high-quality cover, proved to be more than enough. The keyboard and touch pad are both extremely responsive, and I've read in other reviews that the newer key spacing, slight redesign of the touch pad, and other changes make the newer version far superior. My Microsoft docking station is set up in my home office so that I can automatically switch to the wireless keyboard and mouse I had with my previous Dell desktop when I'm in there. , but I find that this cover with keyboard and track pad is more than adequate when I move the unit to other parts of the house.
Other keys are completely useless. br>I wasted a couple of hours trying to update Windows and drivers with no luck. br>This is a $100 keyboard price! This is a price for a low-cost smartphone or tablet. br>Had a terrible time - quality comparable to that of a Chinese manufacturer. Microsoft has confirmed their support: br>br> It wasn't a new keyboard, based on the serial number!br>! Amazon sold me a used keyboard that didn't work! Please keep in mind that it was sold by Amazon in April 2019, but the Microsoft warranty expired in August 2018!.
I was apprehensive about spending so much money on a keyboard and cover. I have no regrets, and I am currently using it; the keys feel great in comparison to many other laptops; obviously, they aren't as good as a full keyboard, but that is to be expected. I was worried that the "alcantra" fabric would be strange, but it's actually quite comfortable, and it hasn't gotten dirty yet, which I believe is due to my choice of dark grey/black. br>br>The fact that I wouldn't have to worry about recharging a battery or setting up Bluetooth connections was what drew me in, and it has performed admirably in those areas. I would strongly suggest it.
With the TypeCover keyboards, Microsoft has completely failed its customers. This is well documented on both corporate/enterprise and individual consumer Microsoft support sites. Work and updates – It's pointless to go around in circles - Even warranty exchanges do not solve the problem - They will not fix this because it is an OS/firmware issue. br>br>In June 2020, I bought this keyboard to replace my old one - which was only good for 18 months after I bought my Surface Pro. I had to return this one to Microsoft because it was still under warranty. After only 6 months of ownership and a lot of troubleshooting to get the keyboard to work, I finally gave up. That replacement (my third TypeCover) only lasted a few weeks before succumbing to the same fate. It's now nothing more than a relic. As a replacement, I bought a less expensive bluetooth keyboard on Amazon. It's not fancy, but it gets the job done! br>br>Come on, Microsoft! br>br> You must take responsibility for the problem and offer a solution - Alternatively, stop selling these items!.
I've been using it for about 4 years. This is my second purchase, as I purchased another laptop for traveling where I don't need my personal files (thus reducing id theft). My first type cover has now been in use for over four years. Every day, and often multiple times a day, I remove and replace the (keyboard) type cover. I take care of my belongings, but every now and then I need to dash out the door for a meeting, so I toss my Surface Pro with this type of cover into my bag and go. It's held up remarkably well and continues to perform as well as new.
Simply put, bigger is better. My Surface Pro's original keyboard had failed. This one appears to work after doing some research on Amazon. When it arrived, I noticed it was significantly larger than the original. It's functional, but it has an odd appearance. It's a good thing I only use it at home. br>br>One of the main reasons I kept this one is that it has the exact same layout and feel as the original (smaller) one. I've experimented with a few different (off-the-beaten-path) approaches. If you don't mind the look, this keyboard works and provides a smooth transition from the old one. br>br>If you don't mind the look, this keyboard works and provides a smooth transition from the old one. br>br>If you don't mind the look, this keyboard works and provides a smooth transition from the old one. br>br>If you don't mind the look, this keyboard works and provides a smooth transition.
