I have a 4k television and Firestik 4k and it works great. Using the Sandvik 32G memory stick has been a pleasure. I didn't have to format it at all.
A power cable plugs into the micro female connector (power only), which sends power to the male connector (power and data), while whatever is powering the female connector sends power to the male In this case, the otg cable is in this condition.
With the Amazon Ethernet adaptor and this OTG cable, my Firestick 4K can be connected to the internet. Next, I plugged in the OTG cable to my Firestick 4K after connecting my Amazon ethernet adapter to it. Based on what I've read, the Firestick 4K can act finicky about which USB drives it wants to accept. Change the format to see what works best. For this setup, it appears that SanDisk drives are pretty reliable. Here is what I hope will help.
As much as you'd like it to work, I do not think it will.

The Flip SD card / SD card extender is the perfect solution for increasing the storage of your Amazon Firestick, as other have commented. The Troypoint Channel has a great tutorial on YouTube that shows you how to accomplish this. You can't just plug it in and start using it. The first thing you need is a USB drive that will be easy to use. The second thing you will need to do is type in various types of code. There is a very good explanation of all these things The longest part was setting up the Firestick. I took about a half hour. In the future, when I sideload apps, they will go directly to the USB drive's partition and not to the USB drive It is a good idea to format the USB to a partition that allows movies and TV shows to be saved (you will need a file manager application to facilitate this). Aside from that, the product works just fine, and there was no buffering or any such issues with the data transfer to the USB drive.
