Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use them to connect a 15 and 60 foot RG8 cable? Is it necessary to cover the outside with weatherproof tape?

Only use Liquid Tape or Coax Tape at these types of connections because your SOLDER/CRIMP connection on the Male 259's is only as good as your SOLDER/CRIMP connection on the Male 259's. Purchase a new coax cable in the appropriate length as an alternative. 73 KD4WDG, best of luck!

Is there a negative effect on SWR as a result of these?

I've used a few of these in my RG-based projects. I used 8X coax from the antenna to the radio and noticed no difference in the SWR. I also talked to other hams in social media discussion groups, and they said there was no difference between using these and a single coax run.

Where do these come from?

China

Are these insulated with teflon or plastic?

I'm holding one in my hand and using a razor knife, I've confirmed that it's made of plastic.

These are acceptable
5/5

It is impossible to make a mistake. If you aren't in a hurry, there are less expensive options. I'm of a certain generation. A UHF female to UHF female adaptor (PL-1) with two male ends. Cables with 259 connectors can be plugged in as an in-line device. A "PL-" identifies and numbers a line splice. 258". br>br>However, despite the listing error, these five connectors are of excellent quality and were sourced from China. You'll get exactly what's shown in the photo. A padded envelope was used to deliver the small box. With my free Prime 2-day shipping, the price isn't bad either. I'd pay more in total if I ordered the same number of similar adaptors from another source in Arizona and had them shipped via Priority Mail for 89 cents each. br>br>I just finished using up my last PL- My IL (alternate) residence has 258's (silver plated, Amphenol manufactured, USA sourced piece) fixing coax runs. Why was it necessary to splice them together? Due to UV cracking of the coax tack down holders (nail and plastic types), two coax runs tacked to my chimney had fallen off and met an unfortunate end with a roto-tiller. This past summer, I worked as a tiller for the first time. The Comcast Internet installer in the basement and where the coax exited the house overtly snipped the other two runs with diagonal cutters. (Those guys don't seem to care for other "mystery" coax with the same diameter as their own RG-58. ) My son, who had been manning the fort for a few months, failed to keep a close eye on the man. I'm not sure what I'm missing. my RG- Gray jackets were worn by 8X. RG-Cable TV For better UV resistance, the number six is always black. )br>br>As a result, I depleted my PL- The repair job required a total of 258 spare parts, and more were required. In an emergency, I'd do it the same way. Otherwise, I'd pick them up at a hamfest for a buck each. br>br>Just remember to use a lot of electrical tap or the Coax-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap- Seal everything around the splice to completely encase it. Waterproofing is not available for the 259 and 258 models. If the splice is not sealed, rain will come in contact with it. Rain on the inside of the coax is considered "bad juju. " It will turn the copper a blackish color and blacken the coax braid. The coax will become extremely lossy as a result, and the entire run will need to be replaced. This is precisely what a splice is trying to avoid.

Good quality, but double-check before you use it! Connectors that look good and function properly at a reasonable price
4/5

The only issue was that one of the connectors was shorted; however, since I only needed one and there were two in the package, this was not a problem. When I contacted the vendor, I received a prompt response and a complete refund. I'm going to keep this vendor in mind for future purchases. Thanks a lot, Maxmoral.

Connectors for coax cables are necessary
5/5

Without the use of these connectors, running 52 Ohm coaxial cable is nearly impossible. PL- from 259 to SO- The 239 double female connectors meet the requirements imposed by cable lengths with male type connectors on both ends. When separating cable lengths for testing or redressing cables around obstacles, these also serve as a convenient break point. When starting any job, you should have at least two to six of these extremely useful nickle-plated connectors on hand.

Impedance that has been changed

This was inserted by me. two 50-foot lines My impedance increased to 75 ohms when I used 75 ohm coax cables and a rig expert antenna analyzer.

Made in a poor manner
3/5

It is necessary to sign in person. Purchases should be avoided. From the outside, these appear to be low-cost. I put them on my workbench, and their impedance does not appear to be consistent from one unit to the next. This is an indication of shoddy workmanship. The so-called insulating material around the so-called insulating material 239 has a gap in it, which allows moisture to easily enter. This is not the case with other brands I've purchased. The vendor insisted on a direct signature for a $7 product, which was inconvenient! Avoid this vendor at all costs!.

Connectors are fantastic
4/5

I've only used it twice to connect a ten-foot extension cord. Connect two 12-foot coax cables. Using on a J-shaped table With two HT's on the pole, there is no noticeable loss.

These little jumpers work great for simple reception needs (HF and VHF/UHF public safety)
5/5

I can't speak for people who use these on coax for transmitting, but they work great for simple reception needs (HF and VHF/UHF public safety). They allow me to experiment with new antennas and locations by allowing me to use shorter pieces of coax that I already own rather than having to buy or make longer lengths each time.

Good fit
5/5

I bought it in case I needed to extend the coax, as well as for my test and radio equipment. In my mobile, I intend to use a meter. Thank you very much. Michael,.
