Product Description

This UAP-AC-LITE AC LITE 802.11 AP from Ubiquiti is compatible with wireless AC networks. 10/100/1000 Gigabit Dual-Radio Gigabit PoE OPEN BOX Supports both 1x4mbps speeds

Questions & Answers

Is it equipped with a PoE injector for a single unit? How powerful is it? What is its voltage rating?

You will receive a 24v injector brick with it. In addition to the 24v only version, it is also available as an 802.11b version. A 3AF/24V version released in 2017 or 2018 would be the most recent. Because the latter is what is currently manufactured, unless someone pawns a brand-new set, this is the only viable option The old-fashioned way I would recommend getting an 802 for your stock since it's brand new. A 3AF-compliant WAP (the box will include a PoE+ connector! The sticker includes the words "Kids First!"). One of the older 24v models and one of the newer PoE models are both in my possession.

Timed access requires the server running the Unifi manager to be on 24/7. Does this apply to all instances of the UFC platform? Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Turn on the WiFi at 10pm. ?

In order to use APs whose APs are meshed, the unifi manager is needed. By shutting it down, how they connect will be lost, but the wired AP's will continue to function.

It supports 3 protocols N, g, and a. Will it support other protocols as well?

In addition to B/G/N at 2, it also supports Bluetooth. An A/C/N chip at 4GHz and a 5GHz one

How do I decide whether to buy the lite version or the pro version if I live in an apartment that's busy?

It works great. I am very pleased with it.

I like how they work and how easy they are My parents built their new house last year and I installed 3 of these and wired them and a POE switch back to the mains
5/5

I was able to setup the network in minutes and it now operates as a single WiFi network throughout the house, handing off devices as I move from room to room. The settings are set to automatic My folks will be able to check on them a few states away if they have any problems. . In which case they haven't done so. not been running for a long time After nearly a year without intervention, the stop has come to an end. This app has a nice feature of turning off the activity light so that they don't draw attention.

A higher-end piece of equipment than entry-level The first thing I want to note is that this is my first Ubiquity AP, I installed it last week
5/5

Some years ago, following my experience at the time, I learned that "consumer grade" routers and wifi products were only intended to last a couple of years before they had to be replaced. Hardware issues are sometimes a result of software problems, but they are not as common. A little over 15 years ago, I was tired of replacing gear over and over again so I bought my first "enterprise grade" network gear. As a result of that project, I learned you have to program Cisco quite intricately. As a student, I was studying to become an electrical engineer and that made it a bit easier, but I still had to work hard. My knowledge of Ubiquity grew after I learned about it a couple of years ago. In the middle of the market, they have a market. There aren't quite as good as Cisco enterprise solutions, but they are better than most products made by companies like TP Link, Netgear, and others that are typically found for consumer In writing all this, I'd like to address some of the negative reviews I have seen. Some folks who claim it was a challenge to set it up say- Plugged directly into your provider's router, the unit did not come up or work. It's not "consumer grade", so you won't be able to plug in and play with this. You will need some IT knowledge and know-how to use this, as well as how a network functions and how to program it. Those who are looking for plug and play should not buy this. I won't need to explain more to you if you're a tech nerd or a network professional. There is only one complaint I have - the UniFi line does not interface with the Edge line. My router is a Ubiquity Edge and this is a UniFi, and they As I gain longevity, I will update you. In my network, I have two Cisco switches (Catalyst 2950) that are close to 15 years old but continue to function perfectly. Although I doubt I will get the same longevity out of this AP, we'll see how it goes.

It was difficult to connect to the Internet
3/5

Several people have recommended getting this phone. I was unable to install the stupid software for it after spending countless hours on The application is written in Java, and Java can be extremely picky. To get the software to run, I had to uninstall Java completely and reinstall it. After the Java update has been pushed, the application will no longer function. Once again I had to uninstall everything and reinstall everybody, and this happened within a week. I use Xfinity internet and use their modem. I read that some people had to put their modem in bridge mode to get this to work, which is not true. For Ubiquiti to find the device and start it, you must connect right to the modem with a computer and run the software. User-friendly software isn't as convenient as one would like, and it takes a while to get used to. While the range on this would have been worth it in the end, this is absolutely awful, and would not have been worth it. Using the software, you can upload a photo of your floor plan and add a picture of walls, windows, etc. I resized the image to suit the size of the house. Despite my house only being 45 x 36, I couldn't even get a signal to my devices in the outer rooms since that is situated in the middle of my house. My phone got around 2 bars, which is not much better than what I get with my Xfinity plan. My goal was to extend its range so I changed the settings around. I increased the transmit power and changed the channel settings from auto to a selected setting. It didn't get any better from there either. It was still faster to download with my xfinity than this even when I was sitting right next to it. As a last resort, I even called customer service to find out if there were any other settings I could change to get the range better. They have the worst customer service, you are put on hold for a very long time and then you have to keep waiting for someone to reply. It doesn't help that they don't know how to help, and they suggest things like upgrading the firmware or moving the device. Every single one of them was tried at least three As you can see, the map actually shows the type of service you can expect to receive. The only building materials in my house are drywall and 2x4s. You will be able to cut the speed in half by even going to the next room over. Although I very much wanted to enjoy using this device, in the end I concluded that older devices worked quite well, however, they really cut down on the range with As a result, don't waste time trying to get this to work in your home. Buy something else and save yourself the time. In a warehouse or office set-up without walls, these might be a more viable option. In the second picture, you can see the Legacy AP PRO device. If I could have had a single that good in my house, I would have loved it. Unfortunately, Ubiquiti said that this device was being phased out and will not be supported for very long.

Is this where you have been all my life?
5/5

I have never had faster WiFi when I owned it. As I pay for Comcast internet speeds, I actually receive them. The Internet is available via If you do not have a Gigabit router (I use the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X), then you will be bottlenecked. There is a little configuration involved if you're not a techie, as other people have noted. Still, it can be done, and the reward will be worth waiting for.

Quite a bit easier to manage and expand than my old UAP
5/5

It replaced an older UAP that had only a It only took one AP to increase my laptop's connection from 144mbps to 400mbps, without affecting anything else. Basically, I replaced the old UAP with this one by swapping it out, and let the Unifi controller configure it as usual. During the last 12 years, these are the only wireless APs I haven't had to constantly tweak to maintain sufficient coverage, fast speed, and consistent connections in my house. My barn has more wireless access points and I can extend my service by adding more and linking them all together so I don't have to switch SSIDs every time I roam from one to another. It's never been possible for me to get a similar function to work from another AP.

Compared to all the other APs I have ever owned, this one gives me the best range and speed
5/5

After waiting so long for a proper wireless setup, I don't know what I was thinking. Compared to all the other APs I have ever owned, this one gives me the best range and speed. *There are some setup steps, but you can handle all of them using the phone app on your phone if you have a basic application. Note that this is an access point and not a router. This guy is not right for you if you don't have a router or don't know the difference between an AP and a router.
