Questions & Answers
From anywhere I have access to a computer or a mobile device, I use the controller to log into the UniFi controller. The UniFi software is loaded and running on several computers at the same time, and it is much easier for me to connect to one IP address than to go back to the computer with the UniFi software.
While Ubiquiti's marketing materials state that the microSD card is included, I can confirm that the Gen2 does not ship with it. There are very few features included with this device. Af PoE), no ethernet cable, no microSD card, but they spent a fortune on the very Apple-like interface and software. I was surprised to find a box like that in the delivery box. The impression is not good.
This generation of gen2 Plus comes with a built-in hard drive allowing for up to 20 Unifi Camera spots. It also has 1 TB of storage (upgradable to 5 TB) and can be used
The answer depends on the circumstances. It is generally recommended that you only own one of these if your network has other Unifi devices. Many of those devices usually require (or are supplied with) POE power. Over time, POE is much simpler than needing power adapters for every device. The first time I tried POE, I thought it was a gimmick, but as soon as I saw it worked, I was sold. Using a Unifi POE Switch, I don't have to use USB to supply power, since I plan to use a Unifi POE Switch Also, the device has an internal battery, so it is unlikely that you will need to supply additional As I plan to make the POE switch powered by a UPS anyway, I should be able to trust that to work. If you decide to use USB, you will need to make sure that it supports Power is provided by USB-C power, as listed on the Unifi site With a maximum power draw of 5 Watts, the power supply is 5 V 1 A. There is thus no need for a charger of 2 amps. Unlike the less power-hungry Gen2, the Gen2 Plus can draw as much as 16 Watts and remain functional on a single amp
Selected User Reviews For Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Cloud Key Gen2 (UCK-G2)
Ubiquiti’s Cloud Key 2 is another great product. After reading some online tutorials for how to migrate from the Gen 1 to the Gen 2, I was ready to open the web interface to the Gen 2 and install the new Cloud Key. After I configured the unit briefly, upgraded the firmware, then restored the Gen 1 backup, I was able to restore the unit successfully. This is an excellent product overall, with the screen on the front being the cherry on top.
I had no trouble installing the Key and the Ubiquiti tech support was very patient and kindly responded to all of my questions. Customer service at this company is excellent, so I would definitely recommend them.
Since these products are extremely reliable, and they can be scaled easily, I have used them in both big and small homes. You are missing the point of UniFi if your network does not have a G2 cloud key. You will sometimes experience problems with the adoption of the cloud key if it is paired with the security gateway (USG). It is strongly recommended you do not download PC controller software for any reason, even if USG informs you to do so. Use the UniFi app at all times. It is recommended that you factory default a unit if you have trouble adopting the USG. If you need to do a manual adoption of the USG, you may sometimes need to access the web GUI of the cloud key. It is rare for this to happen, but it is frustrating when it does. In this case, the equipment is not defective, but perhaps there's a difference in the firmware. *If you are a DIY user without network experience, you should consider the Dream Machine instead, or a less complex device The Ubiquiti product is effortless to set up and use once it has been configured. Once you understand the order of operations for ubiquiti devices, it is usually straightforward to set it up. As a rule of thumb, use the USG for connectivity only to the most basic level. Activate the cloud key and adopt only the United States Government. A FW update will update the cloud key, followed by a controller software update. Once the FW has been updated, the USG will be updated. Once you have adopted the other network devices, you can begin to deploy the rest. Before updating the WAPs, the POE switches need to be updated. Please be aware that if you use a Cloud Key without a USG, you must disable the DHCP server within the cloud key. I suggest you consider using a Universal Sensor Guide if you are not already using one. The monitoring experience as well as remote network administration will be greatly enhanced - YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MONITOR YOUR NETWORK FROM ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME. For residential networks without a static IP address, you can easily identify the public IP address for remote access. You should understand, however, that UBIQUITI provides a low price for high-end network equipment, but the technical support is nonexistent, so make sure you understand.
Nothing like what I expected happened during setup. You get to learn something new if you are a network administrator. The user interface looks a lot like the one on Apple's iPhone. There is an air of refinement and elegance all around. It's very easy to modify almost anything in the app once you've installed it. IMPORTANT NOTE Those on the fence should know that a cloudkey is not needed for the The system can run on a dedicated server on your onsite network. It just makes it a lot easier and simpler with cloudkey. Cloudkey's later generation has a lot of extra features, which is why I chose it.
This refers to the type of load that it is running. The display does nothing. I wish there were a way to turn it.
There are several successful backups and I have tried them all. One of them fails with a message stating that it is incompatible with the other. In other words, this is a compatibility issue when updating from an older version to a new one with little downtime. Not wise when you have a large community relying on this upgrade.
