One of the fastest links in my network
5/5

The life of a semi-retired person As a rural area in America, we have had intermittent wireless internet access from a provider tower several miles away for years, and it's the only provider tower nearby other than satellite service. We are supposed to have line of sight to this tower. It would be ideal if we could site close to the provider antenna, but we can't, because our house sits in a puddle. Having used up my business mileage driving 40 - 85 miles twice a day, I finally got the chance to work from home, but couldn't do it with a shaky As a result of the signal delay as a result of the distance the signal has to travel, we did not use satellite internet since it is much more expensive than even a minimal monthly limit. In the end, we decided that moving the antenna to a tower on top of a hill on our property about 600 feet away from the house was the best option. In 18 years, my internet service provider highly recommended optical cable, but I have had to turn off the power to my well pump twice in mid-winter due to burrowing rodents damaging the insulation as they hurt It is possible to pinpoint buried damage to power cables over a span of 1000 feet, but how does one find damaged optic cables buried in the ground? I spent several hours on the internet, YouTube, Ubiquiti, and other websites researching how to accomplish this task. In the end, I decided to go with 2 Ubiquiti PowerBeam ac Gen2 High-speed Routers The performance airMAX ac bridge This is 5AC A Gen2-based approach The U. S. ) My set of 2 PBEs cost me around $30 at the time I bought it This is 5AC A Gen2-based approach The pre-election period in the United States I wouldn't have bought configured antennas if they were offered on Amazon, or I would have purchased them if the price was reasonable compared to 2 individually configured It was clear these antennae were overkill, since they easily have a range of miles in excess of 600 feet. My goal was to maximize throughput as well as to improve the housing for the 5AC A Gen2 is easy to fit a Gen2 One and a half inches. This heavy-wall galvanized rigid conduit pipe is what I am using to mount the antenna on my Since the antenna has graduated teeth on the clamp, it can fit on pipes of various sizes. I even used pipes larger than those I used in this experiment. With wind speeds of 60 mph+ we have occasionally experienced, the antenna's clamp is solid and well made. As much as I wanted to make it work, figuring out what I actually needed at the tower in addition to the Ubiquiti antenna was the most challenging part. figured out that I had to set up a router in the tower to connect to my Internet provider antenna, just as I had done with my home wireless router. A CISCO Dual Gigabit WAN VPN Router and a Cisco Dual Gigabit WAN VPN Router were both purchased. On the hill, we get lightning strikes from time to time). CISCO was my primary choice because my provider has had the best success with its routers. It is overkill, as I do not need a dual-WAN router, but maximum throughput was what I wanted, so I didn't care about it being a dual-WAN router. The other 2 Ubiquiti Networks ETHs I bought came from the same seller My tower has a ground rod installed so I purchased a 20" box of connectors to ground the shielding cables. They are already fitted with pigtails so that screws can be used to attach them to a grounded surface. The Ubiquiti antennas arrived in the mail. I followed the instructions on the box, assembled them (was easy to understand), and then downloaded the Ubiquiti android app to my Samsung 6, I then started using them. This phone has no service. With the antennas attached, you can configure the antennas directly from your phone using the wifi functionality built into the antennas. This feature is available for 15 minutes after you start up the antenna, so you can configure it directly from your phone while mounting the antennas. The antenna includes this feature at no extra cost, which I think is incredibly generous. By using my cell phone from my living room, I was able to log on to the antenna installed on the tower on top of my house. There is still work to do on my new tower - I have to pour the concrete to make the base durable and then add another 20 feet. It has a length of 30 feet. The connections aren't the best, but I can work from home for now. Using the Ubiquiti app on my phone, I can see that my bridge is now the fastest part of my network - my bridge connection speed between both antennas is 1GHz. As of right now, I do not have any way to verify what I am seeing, but this is the fastest internet connection that we have had in the 18 years we have lived in this house. Although my "new, and improved" internet speed may be related to the hill more than it is to my new Obiquiti bridge, I am almost certain the bridge does not impact my connection speed. I should have opted for optic fiber instead of having to hassle with it. There are many rural areas in.

This will only last a couple of You should avoid if possible, I bought two of them and one just died 18 months later
3/5

A second one turned out to be defective, so I purchased another one. Neither of them failed because of my backup UPS (APC Smart-UPS 3000VA) which is also a surge protector. The UPS is properly grounded and I cannot see how other than poor quality could cause them to fail. Rather than wasting time with them, I'm going to toss them and look elsewhere. As opposed to replacing cheap equipment over and over again, I'd rather pay once and not have to deal with it again. I sent them an email when the first one failed and they ignored me. bother with the second one since I know what will happen and don't want to waste my time. When you pay, you get what you get.

This product works great, but the output of 20 dbm is disappointing compared to that of 27 dbm in the previous version.

Is easy to use

With older Powerbeam m5 models, the ocean was continually problematic over 5 km. It would shut my connection down around 3 or 4 times a day for 30 minutes or more. So far my connection hasn't dropped since I changed them to these.
