Questions & Answers

Is there a monthly fee associated with this device? How long will it be active if it isn't turned off?

So you're implying that this device requires a monthly data usage subscription?

Is there anything I need to do in order to get 4g/lte service? I've only seen 3g so far. In Los Angeles, I'm putting my skills to the test. ?

Simply purchase a 4G LTE modem and a good unlimited uncapped provider, such as Blazing Hog 99. 00 a month for 500 gigabytes Aen is another promising one, but unlike blazing hog, you buy the equipment, own the hardware, and there is no contract. Plus, I have a net gear lte 4g modem with sim already in it, and on some of these phones' internet, you can use your own modem by purchasing the first month for 150. 00 and they will send you an activated sim card. These companies are far superior to dish, and if you are in the same situation as me, you will notice how much faster 4g is.

What exactly is the distinction between U2 and G3?

Size

When compared to the non-sim option, will using sim slots for a specific location improve signal quality?

It's the same as if you were talking on the phone. It'll only work if there's a signal. This device will not work if there is no signal, whether it is connected to a SIM card or not. I haven't tried sim yet, so I can't say if it's more powerful or faster than non-slim, but I've found that non-slim works just fine.

Day Pass Should Be Avoided Terrible customer service; works as expected in most cases, but br>br>1) When using Day passes, keep in mind that they expire at midnight in the GMT 8 time zone
3/5

The package description does not make this clear, nor does it inform you that you are about to purchase a pass that will expire in an hour, rather than the "day" specified in the plan. br>br>2) Attempting to obtain assistance becomes impossible. Customer Service is 100% useless as all they say is that the package is expired and non-returnable and non-returnable and non-returnable and non-returnable and non-returnable and non-re It is refundable. For a meager $1, they won't even reinstate or credit the day pass. And don't even think about enlisting the assistance or intervention of a superior: They are completely devoid of them. br>br>If this is typical of their customer service, I hope you never have to deal with them.

We just returned from our first trip with the G3, a two-week trip through Italy, and it was a great experience
5/5

After some initial issues with a Vodafone sim card, it worked flawlessly, with both virtual and local sims working perfectly after the local sim setup was resolved. Virtual SIM is extremely simple to set up and use. SIM cards purchased locally are usually less expensive. br>br>Battery lasted all day with enough juice to charge my phone along the way. br>br>You can check out the prices for virtual SIM data on their website to see if it is worth it to you to seek out a local SIM or just buy data on their website. br>br> It was left on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and was used instead of hotel Wi-Fi. Fi was used the majority of the time because it was more reliable and faster. It got a little hot now and then, but it was never unbearable. br>br>The G3 gets mostly positive feedback. It felt a lot like being at home, aside from making sure you had it with you or within range. If your service provider offers Wi-Fi, you can take advantage of it. You can also make and receive calls at your regular phone number if you use Wi-Fi calling. We turned on Wi-Fi and set our phones to airplane mode. Fi and Wi-Fi are two different types of internet connections. It felt like we were back at home when Fi called. br>br>2 people using it for maps, general information, news, and other purposes with no real limits; we used 1 GB per day. br>br>Both the user interface and the app are functional, but they are limited. Could use some UI design assistance from a professional. The primary function of the app is to purchase data for the virtual SIM card. It won't let you get information or mess around with the hotspot settings. Although it appears to be a common feature, it is not. The 5-user limit proved to be an unwelcome annoyance. It worked fine for two people, but we were traveling in a group. Allowing people to grab data on occasion did not work because there was no way to keep track of who was connected and when. There was no way to display or enter a device name in the list of connected devices, which was sorted by MAC address. It would be beneficial to allow more users or provide a better interface for determining who is connected and managing the list. br>br>Picked up a local SIM card at the Vodafone store in Rome airport. It was set up and installed. It was recommended that I wait a few hours for it to register before using it. I switched to the local SIM after a few hours of using the virtual SIM, and it worked for a day. br>br>The following day, it appeared to be connected, but no data was being transmitted. I went to two Vodafone stores in Rome and they would put the SIM in a phone, say everything was fine, and then point to the G3 and say that was the issue. We finally found someone willing to assist us at the third Vodafone store, and they determined that the APN was incorrect, but we couldn't figure out how to correct it. All it took was an email to GLocalMe and a few clicks to get the magic incantation working. br>br>Go to the "Local SIM" menu if you need to change your APN settings. A line at the top reads "Data connection," and to the right is a toggle switch. Ignore the toggle switch and focus your attention on the words "Data connection. " Then you have the option of selecting an APN, editing an existing APN, or creating a new APN. br>br>Excellent product that pays for itself in less than one trip. You'll be ahead of the game if you take more than one trip or if you let friends use it on their trips.

It's handy for checking mail and a little extra junk
3/5

Because my year's schedule was very chaotic, I blew my budget on a one-year global "unlimited" data plan. I've lived in three European countries and the United States in the last five months, and I've used this everywhere. The device is well-made, and the battery will last the entire day if charged every night. I was able to use this to connect my phone, tablet, and computer, as well as email and messaging apps, wherever I went. So, if staying connected on a basic level without having to deal with the hassle of purchasing local SIM cards is your primary concern, this will suffice. br>BUTbr>If you try to use your connection like you would at home (downloading a couple of ebooks and an audiobook, surfing the Web, updating programs, watching an hour of YouTube, or, God forbid, checking out Netflix for 15 minutes), it will only let you do so for ONE DAY per month before becoming SO GLACIALLY SLOW that even checking your mail for the rest of the month is an exercise in patience and makes you wish you smoked to pass the time between br>If you really want to use the Internet, the so-called referred to as unlimited package - which cost me twice as much as ACTUAL 24x7 unlimited Internet back in the United States - is a pitiful joke I wanted to use the Internet for GPS, but I couldn't get enough speed to make it work. br>br>THE END RESULTS: The device can send and receive text-based emails as well as send and receive messages. However, you won't be able to access the internet with it - If there are a few pictures on a single page, it will take a long time to download. Instead of buying the data packages this company sells, if you are only going to a few countries and can buy local SIM cards there, do so. You'll save a ton of money as well as a lot of aggravation. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I've been "using" this for seven months and can honestly say that I've never owned any other piece of technology that has disappointed me so much that I can't get more than a single day of use per month - Even on the first day of the month, it is far too low and limited to be useful for anything other than text messaging. The price I paid for the unlimited global data package is nothing short of daylight robbery for the level of connectivity it provides. HORRIBLE. Remove yourself from the situation.

Exactly what we needed for our trip to Ireland! For a trip out of the country, I purchased this mobile hotspot
5/5

I knew we wouldn't be able to use our phones there. If they did, it would be prohibitively expensive. We got an inexpensive sim card from Three in Ireland to save the data that came with the product, and we were able to use it to get online to find lodging, access gps maps, and so on. You can even make phone calls through an app while connected to the internet! PERFECT! I would strongly suggest it!.

We enjoy fly fishing, and our excursions occasionally take us to
5/5

We bought this hotspot as a backup in case our small law firm's router failed for any reason, as well as for vacations. We enjoy fly fishing, and our trips occasionally take us to remote locations where finding wifi is difficult, if not impossible. We also wanted it in case we went on a trip to another country in the future. We won't be using it very often, so paying a monthly fee didn't make sense for us. As a result, the fact that you can use it on the go was a major consideration in our decision. When it first arrived, we tried it out at the office, and it's fantastic. I would strongly suggest it.
