Plugable connects to a laptop, but does not function as a Plugable is not a device that connects peripherals, but is instead a hub that allows peripherals to be connected to it, and then the hub connects to your laptop via a USB cable.

There are several reasons why a universal docking station cannot be as good as one marketed by the manufacturer. That being said, even if it is not a brand specific docking station, it is still quite handy for universal docking stations. I rate this a 4 out of 5 for solid performance. Even though there are a few minor cons listed below, the product is a 5 star product. In case any problems arise, I will update the below review. The pros are + Cost. The cost of a brand specific dock can be two to three times that Slim has been added to the list. The cons are (they are minor inconveniences at minimal cost, but depending on your scenario, they might cause a lot of headaches)* This product demands the installation of a driver (which isn't mentioned in the instructions), but is easy to locate on the company's The oversight process It is critical for you to have administrative rights on the device. This is usually not an issue, unless you have been issued a laptop at work but must give your IT department the permission to install drivers * My wife purchased this product for herself and she ran into the same issue, but luckily the policy allowed them to install the drivers on her locked down machine*-. Using the dock to charge a laptop is not possible. I note *br The laptop requires a power supply independent from the laptop, which introduces more clutter by adding another power cord. I note *br It isn't possible to power off the laptop from the dock if it is shut off (have to open, turn it on, and shut it again, which can cause additional wear and tear). - In addition to taking up a little extra space since it isn't designed for the device to nestle into or on top of it, this dock isn't manufactured by the manufacturer. I note *br A USB 3. 0 connection to a device is available. You can always buy longer cables to replace the provided ones if the provided ones aren't long enough. However, the cable provided (Type 0 and Type C to laptop) is really short and may limit where you can place your dock compared to the port(s) on your laptop. I note *br If you use the provided adapters, you may still not be able to use one of your monitors without additional adapters (specifically Display Port adapters). It is ideal if both monitors have HDMI and DVI connections, so that they can be connected directly to the dock without the need for extra.
It was a problem that I could not use the USB stick if I plugged it in When I plugged the C cable into my Dell laptop, the dock would only work when I rebooted the machine. In other words, it worked, but could not be swapped out instantly. My first thought was that it might be a Windows issue or perhaps a Dell issue, but then I thought that it could be a Plugable issue. Within ten minutes I got a response from their support. It was very intelligent of them to ask me specific questions and then lay out a process to help me figure out what was After I did as they asked for, provided them the data necessary to verify the issue, and they gave me a solution for the issue, and quite a few troubleshooting options in addition to it. I have been using this product for over a year and absolutely love it. I used the standard USB cable instead of the Lightning cable and haven't had any problems at all with it. It could be an issue with the Dell driver on the Lightning port. I wish the company sold more products I need. I mean, seriously It was the quick, intelligent responses of Pat at Plugable that made all the difference and make it seem easy. Thanks so much!.
You should not buy if you already have 5G internet and don't want it to be slower. As much as I prefer two screens, I am also pleased with the performance of my laptop and its portability. I found the dock extremely easy to install and it came with all the necessary Company sent me instructions on how to install the drivers well in advance of the item arriving at my house. An update - Though the company was initially very nice and the service was great, I sent them an email with a problem I was having ( there was no phone number) and never received a reply There is a problem. Because your router does not support 802. 11b, after this point, you will be limited to 72 mpbs even if your laptop is capable of exceeding that speed, since it will not be compatible with the 5G band. Almost all new models of laptops come with 11ac wifi adapters (which are on all new My computer would disconnect from the internet every two minutes or so and then reconnect, which was very frustrating. My laptop needed to be set to 802. I had to do a lot of searching and trying before I realized I needed to change the adapter setting. You need just that 72 mbps in order to stay connected to the internet with the 081 b/n/g. What a bummer! Now that I am looking for a replacement, I need your help.
A laptop was used in place of my desktop computer because my existing monitor could not be connected to the laptop and there were We decided to buy a docking station because it offered the following benefits I found it to be easy to set up, the instructions are basic, but have the level of detail I need
Everything worked as it should - you should really try it - It was delivered on time and was in good condition. It was supplied with the necessary cable to connect the laptop and a monitor adapter to plug in my monitor. It had six USB ports to connect all my computers and small electronics. The cons are The only issue I had was the cable length connecting the laptop to the docking station - it was almost 2 feet long, which was not acceptable to me. The length could have been extended by a couple of feet. As a result, I used a USB extension cable I had lying around.
