What is the compatibility of this ?

There is ABSOLUTELY no doubt that this docking station is Since I am writing this answer on a T580 docked to this docking station (40AJ0135US), I am using the docking station. Neither drivers nor anything else needed to be updated.

The power adapter only outputs 65W, so why does it have a 135W power supply?

The intention is to assist you with charging other devices you may be connected to the device.

The product is marketed as an "Ultra" docking station, but I would expect it to be a lot more than that
3/5

This unit takes fiddling with precise placement otherwise, no lock will function and you won't be able to operate. This is in contrast to the old docking station where you would drop it into the socket and things would snap into place and everything would display properly. I disagree. I find this product to be ineffective. that is cheaper and I prefer it because I don't have to go into all of that hassle. Cite this reference.

Worked for 2 months and then stopped

I bought this dock 45 days ago and it has already failed. It was great out of the box, but has failed 45 days into ownership. Connecting it is extremely difficult. If I gently move it around, I can get it connected. It quickly disconnects when I try to connect it again. I experience a disconnect from my screens and all of my ports if I bump my desk. It is possible to crash the laptop by lightly touching it.

It would have been better if I had rated it There's no way I can give this a 4 This is a 5 star rating

In this case, I purchased a laptop for my home. Our users have used hundreds of Lenovo docks over the years that I have worked in IT. really enjoy the brand. The new style side dock only failed once in 3 weeks about a week ago, but a reset fixed it. However, by comparing it with the old style(s) you can see that the threads do not always line up, and It is clear that Lenovo has gone backwards. Why, why,.

The state of the art isn't perfect but it will do the job
4/5

This dock is used by me every day at work, and I dock and undock it a lot. As far as the mechanism is concerned, I haven't seen any problems The alignment is a little tricky, but after using it about 30 times, you will get the hang of it and you will no longer struggle with it.

There are a few issues to consider This is *br1. A 4K monitor can only run at 60Hz if you also run two 1080 monitors to the same extent. This dock is described as being capable of supporting that scenario in the specifications. After following the setup instructions properly and trying multiple cables, I have found the problem. You either need to run the 4K at 30Hz or it does not work at all. With four monitors at 4K at 60Hz, one additional monitor works perfectly, but with two, it doesn't. My dock has also been updated with a new firmware version, but those didn't fix the problem. .
. A 580T laptop I have sometimes has problems when getting docked while the lid is closed, but the computer continues to run. It would be reasonable to expect that my external monitor will receive a signal and that my external keyboard and mouse would work. There are times when that occurs, but more often, the computer emits a garbled display on an external monitor, then hangs due to a hardware failure. And that's also with the latest firmware on the laptop. Taking advantage of the latest updates in Windows 10. It is best to always open the laptop immediately after docking so that it displays in conjunction with the external monitor in order to fix this There may be an issue with the laptop right now rather than the dock, but I'm noting it here Its reliability is apparent despite that issue. It's a reliable workhorse apart from that.

We've got nothing to worry about

A purchase The month of May will be I reviewed it). Docking and un-docking have never been an issue for me It seems that many reviewers had problems with docking. There are concerns that it has been engineered to last longer since it was initially complained about. They were just abused by too many people without realizing what they were doing. I'll get right to the review now. In order to use this dock with my T480s, my A standard 22" 1080p monitor rounds things out. Not much to see here. a cooling fan and a set of USB cables connected to my desk, as well as a 4 bay hard drive attached (not in RAID). A USB stick is a regular part of my life My Samsung Galaxy T5, tablet, and other gadgets all run perfectly as they are supposed to. There is only one qualm about Apple [there is iTunes does not sync my iPhone or iPad when the cable is connected to the dock for some reason. There's a possibility that this will be fixed in the future, but if you use iTunes Sync when connected via WiFi, it's really not important. It's old school for me, I like a tangible link between what I use and how I use it-- I really have no other concern other than this. At the moment, I just plug the computer directly into my wall outlet. There are some people who are complaining about the whole 4K @ 30 fps deal My response is, "ThinkPads are not prototype machines - they are not prototype machines. " These machines are known as industrial because they have been tried and tested It is true. As HDMI is still on the fickle side, they do not support 2 sources, but they do support Furthermore, 4K is still in the throes of trying to decide what it wants to be, so to the skeptics, it would be wise to not criticize any other manufacturer for throwing gear on the market without careful There are times when Lenovo does not hit it out of the park, but they do so when they do.

This device works without issues
5/5

I use it with a TCL 4K TV, working at 60Hz with HDR from On the dock, there is a single port. The internal HDMI port of the X1 Carbon Gen 7 is HDMI 1, so you can't use any other HDMI or USB devices. As the HDMI port on the dock appears to be an alternate mode through the Thunderbolt 3, it is not constrained by the laptop's HDMI hardware. It has not been tested with multiple displays and so I cannot comment on it. It should be noted that I tried to get the HDMI port on the dock to work at 4K/60Hz in December 2019, but could not do so and had to use an active DP to HDMI 2 connector instead. HDR could only be achieved using a HDR-compatible adapter (not a USB adapter). Due to some software update (now in May 2020), probably affecting either the X1C Gen 7 TV or the Intel graphics drivers, I am able to use 4K/60Hz/HDR directly through its dock HDMI port no longer being a problem. It was not the firmware of the Ultra Dock that had been updated during this period, so that did not limit the performance. As a result, I can only suggest that you make sure that all of the drivers and firmware on your devices are up-to-date. Using docks and undocks has not been an issue. In the Ultra Dock, it does not alter your windows and icons. Windows itself has limitations regarding how it repositions them. As for me, I prefer the mechanical dock because it lets me open the laptop and use it with my external screen, and then close it with ease (I can also use the webcam on the laptop for a quick video conference, not needing to buy an external one to use with the laptop).
