Questions & Answers

Can this dock drive two 4K monitors at once? Do you have any monitors? If so, what makes?

The answer is yes With two 42" Wasabi Mango 4K monitors (LG IPS panels with Mstar electronics), I am able to run 4K in high quality. They both belong to the DP1 group. A total of two inputs (mDP - It is > The Decision Point). In order to make it work, I had to download the Intel HD application that came with the beta drivers for Intel. Using this method, you can turn off the SP panel, then bring on the external monitors one at a time (4k/29Hz is reported by Intel, but the actual sync is 30Hz), then turn on the SP4 panel again. Using the MS Graphics Properties app, I was not able to connect the panels. * Please note On the dock, I have not been able to force the monitors to sync higher than 30Hz each. As the dock does not have the bandwidth to sync at 60Hz, I was hoping for something in the middle. A dock and an external mDP monitor can be synced to run at 60Hz on the SP4 by plugging one into the dock and one into the mDP port The configuration I used for the last 2 months was this.

How does it work as a charger when it is in use? The standard charge must be plugged into the dock, or does it need to be plugged into the charger?

While in use, the charger will serve as an input device.

The surface pro 4 dock connects to the surface in what way? What is the status of the dock via the charging cord on the side of the dock. ?

It is true. As long as the dock is connected to the charging port, the Surface can be charged while attached. My Surface Pro 4 dock is better than the old dock I had on my Surface Pro 3. At first I thought I would miss my Surface Pro 3 dock, but I actually like it. Moreover, the dock is well-balanced, which makes it easy to keep it firmly in position. High quality seems to be the case.

What is the compatibility of this with Surface ?

This dock is not compatible with the Surface 3 since it has a microUSB charger. Although there are two different Surface Pro models, each of them comes with the same proprietary charger that snaps magnetically onto the pro models. You can use this if you own the Surface Pro 3, but if you own the earlier Surface 3, then the cover will not work.

DESCRIPTION AND PHOTO OF THE PRODUCT ARE DECEPTIVE
3/5

Wow, how on earth did they pack all those ports and a power supply into such a small package? Microsoft seems to be making all kinds of Apple-related announcements We are at your service. After examining all five photos on Amazon and the written product description (the dimensions are rather small), I was amazed. As I was waiting for the shipment to arrive, my answer was delivered today The bricks didn't have to fit all of that together. This item comes with a SECOND brick, which is the power supply, and is about the same size as the brick shown in the picture. Fortunately, I ordered an extra case for my new Microsoft Surface, thinking I would only need an extra side pocket for the small brick and power cable. That wasn't the case. It's time for Microsoft to step up. With online shopping becoming more prevalent, every buyer or seller of a used item knows that they have to photograph everything. It is important to me to maintain integrity. It's not surprising that a company such as Microsoft is having trouble figuring that out. Our online reviews can help them understand what we're looking for. I'm lucky to rate.

It turned out to be mostly true that most people were doing this
5/5

Initially, reading all the negative reviews made me a bit leery, but I really needed the docking option, and I could not help thinking that Microsoft, while not infallible, wouldn't release a product so inferior as others described. Again, let me say that I know Microsoft releases software with numerous issues, etc. , etc. , etc, etc, etc, etc, blah, blah, but I chose to trust them a bit. my opinion is that the majority of the negative reviews are due to a mix-up among reviewers. Based on my reading of some of the success reviews, it pretty much confirmed my suspicion that most people were doing things incorrectly. In order to use an "active" mini display port adapter with older monitors, you must have a Mini Display Port adapter. Based on the suggestions of others, I used the adapters and it works perfectly. All I had to do was plug them in, change the display settings, and arrange them in the order I wanted them, and I was done. Scaling works very well, just a simple matter of resizing. Once again, I suspect both the "passive" and the non-passive mini display adapters are to blame. Electronics are not built into passive cords and therefore the signal is lost and compromised, causing the device to malfunction. As of 2/5/2016 Here's an update Performing flawlessly even after two years.

If you have the appropriate display adapters, this works great

Below are the updated review notes for this review, which was last updated on 8/15/2017. Considering the Surface Dock is the only reliable docking station for the Surface, it is a good choice for docking. Due to Microsoft discontinuing the docks that locked into the Surface on the sides, this is the only option we have to charge the Surface and output to multiple displays, etc. The pros and cons are as follows The pros are Please note that I have run into no problems with mini displays when using the right adapters. I have a Surface Book with dual monitors and it works perfectly
5/5

My experience with this product has been that I have been using it for about 10 hours a day for 2 days with no problems What I have configured is as follows 1) One Logitech Receiver Extender Cable plugged into a dock usb port. 2) One Logitech Wireless Keyboard model MK550 and Logitech Mouse model M705 communicating with one Receiver Extender cable plugged into a dock port. • Two monitors (one ViewSonic VP2770 and the second LG BT82) The monitor is a 27" LED IPS 2K 1440p (orientation is landscape at 2560 x 1440 resolution), and the monitor is connected to a single 28" Dell Ultrasharp U2415. Monitor (Montage Orientation Portrait with a resolution of 1200x1920)) both monitors are connected through a gold plated mini display port and HDMI cables. The dock mini display port is connected to the dock mini monitor port. 4) A Netgear AC1200 Wireless Network Adapter Dual Band High Gain USB 3. 0 Wireless Adapter for Bluetooth and WiFi Plugging in 0 of the A6210 models into the Dock. 5) One Linksys WRT AC1900 Dual-Band router. The Band+ wireless network The WRT1900ACS V2 is a wireless router with Wi-Fi capability. I have plugged my Netgear adapter into the dock port in order to connect to the Internet and my local network. So far I have been able to connect to the network without any problem. I have also not had any issues with my displays losing displayed content on either one. My Surface Book is disconnected from the dock and must be reconnected I have not encountered any problems where I had to reboot to get things to work while docking several times a day. It has been a good year in terms of performance.
