Questions & Answers

Can you tell me if I need any wires or connections?

A docking station is equipped with a power cable and transformer as well as a USB cable for connecting the docking station to your computer This connector is designated C. Using USB-connected devices It serves as both a power source to recharge the battery of the computer and a signal path between the computer and peripheral devices (e.g., a printer). The docking station can be used with different devices connected to it (e.g., laptop, monitor, printer, modem). There are no cables provided by the docking station for connecting peripheral devices. However, the docking station provides ports through which peripheral devices

Are there any other non-profit organizations that this will work with? Is there anything similar to the microsoft surface laptop 3 that is compatible with usb type C by Dell?

If the laptop stops working, then you should be fine but don't expect any assistance from Dell or Microsoft. As an older model, I have owned it for about 2 years, and I use it with a Lenovo Yoga, Dell Latitude 5490, and Asus Zenbook laptop. As well as using the monitors and peripherals installed on my Intel NUC, I have also connected it several times.

What I assume is that the dell power adapter plugs into the docking station and then powers the laptop with a USB C Is that right?

If you want to use more peripherals on this docking station, then you would use the 130w or 180w version. Plugging the USB cable into the laptop would enable it to communicate with the computer A cable of type C

What happens when you press the power button on a laptop?

I have found that if you are using a Dell laptop, switching the power on the dock will turn it on or off. The on/off function of a laptop may or may not work if you are using a different brand. In the past, I have used a Dell but now I own a Lenovo Yoga C940. As far as this feature is concerned, the Dell worked perfectly. With the Lenovo, I have to turn it on and off manually (not through Thanks so much for your help!

device cannot hook up to more than one display, especially a 4k display
3/5

There's a scam going on with Thunderbolt 3. A dual-display setup at 4K 60Hz makes my head spin. In addition to HDMI, the device does not Interestingly, this dock was recommended by Dell for their 7480 laptop with a 6th generation i7, Intel HD 520, 16GB RAM, and a Thunderbolt 3 port (Not USB C only) and this laptop was on the list of recommended laptops for this product. My plan was to connect both of my 4k 60hz screens via display port to this dock and to plug this dock into the TB3 port on my Dell Almost all of the other ports work, but getting video to output is quite a chore. I have had a lot of problems setting up multiple displays. If you plug in a display, it appears in the configuration menu, but you can't enable or set the resolution. You will see the video outlets at 1080p 30Hz if you unplug one screen, and you will see both outputs at 1080p 30Hz if you plug in the other screen. To make sure it wasn't the dell laptop, I plugged my TB3 macbook pro in just to make sure it wasn't the dell machine. The mac had the same issue as the dell. I asked an IT professional at the company where I work who works with a lot of Dell laptops if they ever found a reliable TB3 dock that can output video to multiple displays. This version of TB3 is simply not ready yet. This item should not be purchased if you intend to output video to multiple displays over TB3.

The best way to output video from laptop to multiple displays is each display must be connected to a display output port on the TB3 is a scam since it only allows one display per port. Despite the fact that everything works and it looks nice, it only gets two stars.

Changes to the BIOS are needed to make the driver I'm reviewing WD 19 dock with XPS 13 9380 after one day of use
5/5

Since updating the BIOS on the 9380 this month, I've only been experiencing dock issues. A monitor is not properly connected to the computer, a simple USB switching hub will not operate properly, and my computer repeatedly shuts down requiring force restarts. I followed every step when installing a new dock but had the same issues. I came across this article and it helped
Plug your Dell USB-powered device into the PC D6000 and Thunderbolt Docks (WD15, TB16, TB18DC, WD19, WD19TB, WD19DC) Installing driver files and BIOS settings for Dell USB-connected devices
This article provides a basic guide to the installation and troubleshooting process for Dell USB-connected devices. Docking Stations WD15, TB16, TB18DC, WD19, WD19TB, WD19DC, and D6000 for C and Thunderbolt cards. The last time this page was modified This article is from the 13 March 2020 issue of the Journal It worked after I followed the instructions to update the BIOS settings, so I am happy that the dock now works smoothly. The 9380 BIOS does not have all of the options listed above, including those to “enable USB power sharing” and to “allow USB tethering" This is called "C dock support". Docks are working as of right now. Having said that, I did need to connect my USB switching hub to the dock's front USB port. Here's hoping this helps. I wish you the best of This is an area that Dell could be a bit clearer about.

Do not let the opportunity pass you by
4/5

I have tried all dock stations and this is the only one that I have found that has any sort of functionality No matter what, they (Targus, Kensington, Plugable, HP, CalDigit) will not be the same. It's the only dock I've found with no major problems with my fleet of laptops so far, so compared to other docks this one is pretty good. There are only a few differences Monitors didn't come on on SP7 after cold booting the first time, and the USB hub on my ThinkPad suddenly stopped working after recharging it. I was able to fix that problem by unplugging the dock and recharging it. The main issue is that these docks are now out of date and will be replaced with the WD19S and the According to Dell, the only difference between S and S models is an absence of built-in DAC features, but it turns out that's not the case. My WD19S was supposed to fix the USB hub problem, since there are fewer devices attached to it, but it ended up having charging issues, where it would no longer charge the laptop after some time, so I had to reconnect it. I think they actually changed the PD controller and who knows what else, so the dock is a completely different design. While WD19 is still in stock, get it now.

The price is overpriced, but the product works This model supports three monitors at once
4/5

The monitor only supports 3 monitors, either 3 external monitors with the laptop closed or 2 external monitors with the laptop open. A USB to VGA adapter is what I use to make my 4th monitor functional it is not the best quality, but it does the job. Getting drivers to download was a challenge due to inadequate instructions. As far as other aspects are concerned, it works as expected.

I had to return to the shop after the work went well
5/5

The non-TB version of the product I ordered accidentally arrived, so I had to return it and reorder it. However, when I finally got it, it worked just as I had hoped. For about five minutes, my TV went in and out intermittently (flashing about every 2 seconds) There was a brief pause (6 seconds), then it stopped. It is unknown whether this was a firmware issue or if it was just this one unit. It didn't resolve the issue, even though I updated everything that I could. All I had to do was let it run for a while. It seemed to happen a little less the next day, but it was still unpleasant when it did. As soon as I realized I had purchased the wrong item, I contacted the seller and requested a refund for returning the item. Returning everything I owned was accepted so long as I returned it all. All the bags and boxes, as well as everything else, were packed up and sent back to the client. It is definitely a great seller, but if your computer has a TB cable, then you are going to want the TB version (it is faster, although the HDMI stopped working for no reason, despite it having a HDMI port, but this is a common problem).

The fan is loud because it's defective This is the only solution Dell provides
3/5

While working from home, I planned to use this product in conjunction with my company-issued Dell laptop. was happy to discover that I could connect it easily to a laptop and two external Dell screens I had bought. It was not until about five months after I began using the product that I began to have problems with it. This occurs dozens of times during the day, although the device is cool and well ventilated. Furthermore, it is not close to other objects. At what appears to be the highest speed possible, the fan kicks on for a small period of time - which is very loud Trying to find a solution to this problem, I looked on the Dell website and on other Internet sites. My Dell device was updated with the new software, as recommended by user support. I tried this a couple of times, but it didn't make any difference. on the Internet about the experiences of other users with a similar problem, it appears that Dell has no solution to this issue and that this was It is a product I would never buy.
