Questions & Answers

The coaxial connection on the back of my television is not available for me to connect an antenna to. Do I need to replace the coaxial cable with this, and how do I do it?

A little electrical tape, 3 pennies, and a 2 inch wire can turn an ordinary piece of paper into a wireless TV antenna. Make sure you change your pennies every 3 days, since that's how often the government taxes the airwaves coming into your house. Do not think you can rotate six pennies every 3 days since they know if you used previously used pennies. Each penny has a unique serial number, the middle of the penny is a zinc battery. It's a good idea to get a new roll of pennies from your bank every 4 or 5 months, especially if you watch TV every day.

The PS4 doesn't seem to work with this, how can you make it work? We are told that the device is not supported?

In order to use the drive as an external storage, when you first connect it to a USB port, a message appears asking if you want to reformat the drive. At this point, you should select In just a few minutes, it will be ready to use as an external storage device.

As an alternative to backing up, is it possible to add a folder within Canvio where documents/videos not on hard drive can be stored so that they can be accessed easily and readily retrieved?

In short, yes. The device is like a supersized flash drive. It can be used in exactly

Does that mean I can plug and play without having to use a software program?

It seems that you are asking about the backup software that comes with an external hard drive. The answer to that question is yes. You can copy and move files just using the Windows Explorer. do not use the traditional backup software, so the first thing I do is move all the files in the root directory to another directory that I create just to back them up. So I don't have to worry about their backup software when I plug in the drive. I can use other programs to save files to the disk as well. In the case of a driver need, your computer should find it. You would have to deal with that in

Using a portable hard drive What you need to know

I'm going to tell you some facts to counter the nonsense that's in some of the reviews. If you wish to check what I say, feel free to do some research. It would be pointless to go into too much detail in the midst of this wall of text. end, you can find an update on my only issue with this particular model as well as a simple technique for recovering data when the internal drive is in good shape. I'm telling you, ALL of them. There are some that are dead-on-arrival, and others that take a while to arrive. You need to decide how you want to use it. The parts break when they are moved. There is a blockage in the vents. A skillet preheats and fries the chips. There is a crack in the board. My efforts to find good data have been fruitless as I cannot understand According to industry-wide reports, the rates are typically in the 2-5% range The failure rate ranges in the 5% range with some lines failing more or less. As a person, I have had an excellent experience with them. 1b) No matter how good the hard drive may be, it will eventually fail. You should count it as a win if you can use it until it becomes too small and slow to be of use. There are multiple sizes, styles, and "support" types. If you order something that you don't think you are, check your order. I mean it. It seems like lots of reviews on this site have been left by people who ordered the wrong item. As you change your options, keep an eye on the price. If you want to check it again before you check out, do so in the cart. 3) Don't move your data - copy it instead. You should save your old drive until you are sure your new one will work. Based on a quick survey I have conducted, I have found that at least half of the responses have come from people who aren't as knowledgeable about computers as their friends claim. Most of the rest of the complaints are about other things. The return policy for Toshiba looks like it could use some improvement, so use your 30-day return window Burning it in and backing it up takes the best part of a week. TLDR I've been using Toshiba Canvio products since they first came out, and I still have and use my original drive. I've used them professionally, and friends in a variety of different fields have used them as well. My own family has owned at least six of them and I know others who have owned Only one problem has arisen during that time (click here to view). In the event that someone asks for my professional recommendations, I recommend it. Recently, I have been searching for a larger capacity drive (Macs and laptops only have a limited number of ports), but I keep returning to this site. Up to date First, I had a problem with an old 1TB unit I've had so long I can't find a record of how long ago There was a light on, but the system did not even know it was there! Can you tell me what the fix is? My next step was to reassemble the drive and reinstall it. I think it's called reseating, just so you know. Using this method works on anything that has a cord and can also be used to fix a system that cannot be fixed by restarting it. The bonus is There are no guarantees, but if that piece of electronics is damaged, you might be able to replace the housing or get a USB to SATA adapter kit to access the drive. believe I paid around $40 for mine. Opening the case carefully may be harder than using the gear, but there are a number of reputable forums where you can find assistance.

Whenever you use this unit, do not store any files you do not wish to lose
3/5

On March 9th, I purchased this During a month-long trip in April in which I had to travel with my laptop I loaded it with documents saved from my desktop PC so I could travel with my files. It failed after only 30 days on April 9 when it was just 30 days old. There are hundreds of web pages on how to fix this issue, so when I Googled it there were thousands of results. I'm now in my office, and was hoping that I would just plug it in to my desktop PC and it would work - but no joy. Perhaps there is something wrong with the port on my laptop Unfortunately, I did not have the luck I was hoping for Even when the lights come on, I cannot access the files at all or actually follow some of the recommended fixes, such as renaming the drive letter, reinstalling the OS, and reformatting the drive. Oh, and by the way, the last return date is I lost my ability to use it the same day!.

I suggest that you do not buy anything at all
3/5

A few words I have updated At the time of its failure, the hard drive was less than 2 weeks old and had never been transported. It was not possible to recover thousands of files, even after spending extensive amounts of money on specialized systems with no results. There was zero support or contact from Toshiba, a wholly useless product. Had the product for four days and returned it. Since I have owned 5 WD drives over the years that never broke, I would strongly advise you to avoid Toshiba drives if you do not care about your data. They will never have my support or that of one of their products. I have 4 paying clients who depend on this working correctly but it is currently not working properly. It makes a very strange clicking sound and will not let me move files to another drive. The data may or may not be recovered, but it is also not something one should ever worry about when using Do not go through this stress and get a WD instead.

My MacBook works great with this case
5/5

In order to back up my MacBook, I purchased this product. However, the description did not say much about use as a backup for Macs, so I decided to buy it anyway. The MacBook automatically formatted it and began to backup the file once it was plugged in. The speed with which the computer was backed up is impressive. In addition, it is a nice, small apartment.

Using an external hard drive with a PS4 is possible
5/5

An external hard drive with 2TB capacity was purchased for my PlayStation 4. This device worked perfectly when I had no space left on my 500 GB PS4. After connecting the USB to the PS4, the PS4 asked if I wanted the drive formatted for use on it. The software was ready to go as soon as I clicked YES. After turning on the external hard drive, I was able to move all saved data from the PS4 to it right away. I now have enough free space to play all my games. There was little point in purchasing the Playstation external hard drive since it was nearly $30 more expensive. I used the Toshiba drive in my PS4 to store additional games and videos. I saved money and got exactly what I needed out of it. Users who want to add more storage to their PS4 should consider this drive.

This is garbage
3/5

Please accept my apologies for this negative review. It is my preference to give good reviews, which I do almost always, but this piece of garbage stopped working after only 4 months. Many of the fixes posted by exceptional companies like Easeus have not worked for me. The attempt failed. It is a total waste of time and money to buy this Toshiba Canvio Advance 2TB. To call this a "Amazon's Choice" is an absurd thing to say. A nearly perfect score? There is no reason for it to receive less than There should be a minus on the rating. In case you were wondering, I use a number of external hard drives to store my data. The Toshiba I use is an older one and has worked well for me. There's WD, Seagate, Fantom, etc. , so I use them all It has never been an issue. It is a great thing that Seagate and Fantom exist. There are many benefits to using WD external hard drives. A reliable source. The Toshiba Canvio Advance 2TB I purchased in September 2018 has failed. By the time I can get assistance from Toshiba anymore, they closed me out of their support system.
I am replacing this with a WD Hard drive.
