The drive, which had worked for about six weeks, stopped working. There was a problem mounting it. Nothing would happen apart from the light on the drive coming on. It doesn't seem to be a problem with my Mac. The drive doesn't appear to be a problem in the Finder, Disk Utilities, DiskWarrior, TechTools or even in Terminal. Having bought it a long time ago, it sits on my desk. There are no drops of water, no water at all. It doesn't work with other USB devices either. I contacted Seagate (LaCie is now owned by them) to find out what is going on. is covered under warranty, so they can replace it for you. As well, they stated, "Data recovery is not covered under the warranty. ". A link on the Seagate website was given to me (Seagate also provides its DataRescue plan FREE for two years). There was a link there that I clicked. This is what they said on the site I would like to purchase US $49 from you. " The cost of US $650 is the same as $750. It is possible I might be able to recover some of that, because the drive lasted only about six weeks. My heart was not in it, but I pulled the box from the closet and found the brochure about Data Rescue. Links are also included in the document. As a result of speaking with Amazon, Seagate, and the vendor, I did not have to pay either $699 or My data recovery plan included a Data Rescue plan. They will recover the disk under that Therefore, I made them aware that I needed my disk Upon receiving the BLANK DISK, they refunded my money. The best is yet to come Now that it is October 4, let me tell you what's new. March 28 was the date I bought it. Today, I got a drive back from them. According to the rumor, it contains all my recovered files. Password protection is currently in place on this drive. That wasn't the case in the original. If I don't have the password, how can I access the files? Did they send me it? Not at all. As always, I will have to spend some time on the phone and send some It seems to me that they are doing everything they can to blow this thing. A brief update I sent an email to the CEO of Amazon and the CEO of Seagate about this ongoing saga on Saturday, October 5. It won't be until Monday before I hear from either of them. My Amazon representative called me within 20 minutes of receiving my email, even though it was a Saturday. It is clear that Seagate is the problem, but Amazon was willing to bend over backwards to fix it. Is Seagate still in contact with me? It is obvious that the answer is no. In a few days, I will send them a certified letter. After just over 30 days of use, the hard drive failed. Upon replacing the original drive, Seagate replaced it with a "factory repaired drive". Having a drive that has been repaired might save us a few bucks but it's never worth it when we work in video production. I have several LaCie Rugged drives with different connections and use them often. I had bought several of them previously, and all worked well, so I was surprised to receive this one which was an absolute In my opinion, this is the best way to connect to a MacBook Pro since the new model only has a USB port There were a lot of ports available, so I thought this would be a good Although I don't know why, when I mount it to my MacBook Pro or my big Mac Pro, it reports that it has only 411MB available. After trying the LaCie setup and formatting the disk with the Mac Disk Utility, the hard drive still showed about 400MB of available space. It produced an error message about not having enough space on the drive when I tried to copy over 2TB of data onto it, so it seems there is a problem with the drive. I tried both El Cap and High Sierra without solutions. There was the same issue with both drives that I tried. Previously all of my older drives mounted without issue, so I do not know why that part of the process isn't working.

The brand new external hard drive failed over night while I was in the middle of editing a project for my client. I ordered this unit 6 months ago. A hard drive I bought six months ago is still just as useful as any other orange paperweight. I have thousands of dollars worth of work I now have to refund. I paid way more for it because of its durability and longevity, but now the disk is just as useful as any other orange paperweight. My expectation was that the company had a good and reliable product, but it turns out I was Since 48 hours have passed, I have not received a response from the customer service department. In order to manually secure the data, I need to spend over $1,500 on a company that will attempt to recover the information. As I mentioned, I said $1,500 to ENSURE that my data is saved. It is completely unacceptable for this "Rugged" trash to be sold without a full refund. Please wish me luck when I tell dozens of brides that they will not be able to relive their wedding.

Go to the LaCie website and download the latest firmware and software if you have the latest Mac operating system. You have to unmount and remount, then format your disk (this must be done before using it because it erases everything) as Journaled / GUID. I was able to fix it with no problems! The review is old as a result of my software was mounted with 424 MB of free space to use. In what way?.
