Nice mid- level machine, whisper-quiet operation, and memory/PCI expansion to a bare minimum
5/5

I ordered this Dell to replace the Chromebook my daughter was using in her virtual classroom. I'm a PC guy, and she wanted to play Minecraft Java Edition as well, so. It was necessary to install Windows 10. br>br>CONSTRUCTIONbr>The enclosure is built to the specifications stated - It's a little smaller than a standard Mini ATX, and if you squished the cables on the back slightly, it could fit on a 12" deep bookshelf. Two captured knurled thumbscrews hold the side panel in place for tool-free installation. The removal is completely free. br>br>On the inside, you can see how they were able to save so much space. There is only one full-size bed available. There are two PCIe slots: one long PCIe and one short PCIe. The second one, I'm guessing, is for a second SSD, because here's something odd: Only the one adjacent to the blue PCIe slot is removable, despite the fact that the back plane appears to have four removable dust screens (for four expansion cards). This is visible if you examine the photos closely. br>br>In today's non-profit world, br>br> CAD, non- Because of the high capacity of today's DIMMs (memory modules), this is actually a good thing for rendering workstations because it allows for significant manufacturing cost savings while allowing for the most common upgrades, more storage space and an upgraded graphics card. Likewise, only having two memory slots is perfectly suitable for most configuration scenarios for this box. Why should you pay for slots that you will never use? br>br>One thing that struck me as odd, given that this box appears to be set up for office use, is the lack of a physical speaker. TRRS ports can be found on both the front and back of the device (TRRS stands for tip-receiver-receiver-receiver-receiver ring- ring- sleeve, which accepts and auto-updates I'm guessing that most users will use either wired or wireless external speakers and mic because of the built-in Bluetooth and the ability to detect headphone, microphone, or combination headsets in a single jack. The built-in Wi-Fi The Wi-Fi adapter can be used on both computers and mobile devices. 4GHz and 5GHz spectra, and it appears to receive signals in a similar manner to my external antenna. Wi-Fi antena The antenna configuration is good because another PC in the room has a Wi-Fi card. I have it on top of a desk, so there isn't much in the way, but it's fine about 25 feet and one floor away from the access point. br>br>As for processing power, you'll get a single CPU with 12 cores, which should suffice for most of the tasks you'll throw at it, unless you're into bitcoin mining or something else, in which case I'm sure you've done your homework and know what you're getting yourself into. If not, that's a topic for another time. br>br>As for video, you're using Intel embedded graphics with a single HDMI or VGA output - that's a topic for another time. I'm not sure why you'd want to use VGA nowadays. I bought an HDMI to DVI converter and connected it to a dependable Acer 24-inch LED-backlit monitor. No problems running 1920x1280 on the LCD. br>br>Another thing that struck me was the location of the power supply, which is on the bottom of the case rather than the usual top. I used to think the PSU was on top to keep heat from rising into the cards/CPU area above, but this one is enclosed and ventilated straight out the back, giving you a little more balance with the weighty power electronics at the base rather than the top. It's a great idea, but it's unfamiliar territory for someone like me who grew up with 800W power supplies in Full ATX cases from the 1990s. br>br>OPERATIONbr>BOOT-UPbr> A physical round button on the front is used to wake the device up. The external LEDs are all cool white, giving the space a contemporary and distinct look. There is no noise when the computer first starts up - The CPU and PSU are the only fans in the unit, and neither of them runs at full speed when you turn it on. In fact, I have yet to hear from them. br>br>Wi-Fi br>br>Wi-Fi br>br>Wi-Fi The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections worked flawlessly. There were a few Windows updates, but nothing out of the ordinary (the big one was Feature Update 1909, which hadn't been installed), and they all went smoothly. Finally, there's some standard bloatware like McAfee, which I always uninstall, and built-in-adware, which I never use. but- I don't use Mail because I prefer Outlook (work) or Gmail (personal), and I don't use the ever-removable Windows stuff like the ever-removable Windows stuff like the ever-removable Windows stuff like the ever-removable Windows a prompt to sign up for Office 365 - Overall, however, there isn't much, so Dell deserves credit for that. SUMMARYbr>This is a good little box! br>br> It's more than sufficient for all of my daughter's school needs, and it'd make a great work-related gift. from- Anyone who does not require a truly high-end computer should use a home computer. CAD, rendering, and virtual machines are some of the services that are in high demand. If I needed another, I'd go out and get one. I considered docking 1/2 a star because of the missing speaker and odd back plane, but (a) the speaker wasn't a big deal once I considered it, and (b) I'm sure the back plane decision was made so they could use this chassis for multiple mainboard configurations.

If you're not planning on upgrading, don't buy it
3/5

If you intend to upgrade, don't buy it. The power supply (psu) is custom made, and the one that came with it is 200W, with only a 240W psu available for purchase. You can't use a standard power supply with this motherboard, so you won't be able to install a good graphics card. In addition, only two ram slots are available. The two sticks on the one I got were even of different brands. This computer is completely insane and should not be used. Please save yourself the trouble and build or buy a PC that can be upgraded.

Basic use computer that is quiet, fast, and has a small footprint
5/5

The DELL INSPIRON 3880 COMPUTER appeals to me because it has a small footprint, is quiet and fast, and comes preloaded with Windows Pro. The review unit is equipped with an Intel (R) Core (TM) i5 processor. CPU @ 10400 MHz 90GHz. A 512GB Solid State Drive (SSD) is combined with 12GB of memory. There is no noise when using a Solid State hard drive. Both the keyboard and the mouse are hardwired to the computer. The DELL unit does not include a monitor, speakers, or a CD/DVD drive; there is a front slot provision, but no drive installed. The unit comes with only the barest of instructions. Regulatory and warranty information is contained in a single pamphlet. The other pamphlet only shows how to identify the various inputs and outputs, as well as how to connect them. br>br>Both the keyboard and mouse had USB connections that were plugged into the back of the main PC Computer chassis. A HDMI cable was used to connect the monitor to the TV. Two different monitors were used in my tests. I had no problems hot-swapping the monitors, and they both came up in 16:9 mode. 9 mode. The audio link was perfect. br>br>The Set-up br>br>The Set-up br>br>The Set "Follow the prompt" was all that was required for registration. DELL SUPPORT ASSISTANT appeared as a pop-up after I had used the computer for a few days. This enables a system analysis to bring the computer up to date as well as correct any issues; I initiated the analysis, and the Support Assistant completed the checks. This computer, in the end, required eight updates, which were displayed. Some or all of these options are available. The update was completed after I selected all of the options. The manual can be found in the My Dell section. I uploaded pictures using the SDX Card slot. An error message appeared, along with a window where you could fix it. A photo app was also loaded as an option to aid in the sorting of photos. I selected upload all after I got past the error message and the photo app. The card's entire collection of photos (over 1500) was uploaded. During the data transfer, the screen remains white. When the transfer is complete, you will receive a notification. The card slot is located directly in front of you, making it extremely convenient. This is a push-in/push-out time slot. br>br>So far, I've been very pleased with the computer. It is responsive and functional. There have been no issues with it. The DELL Support Service function was fully automated and performed flawlessly. Following the updates, no issues have arisen. I don't see why this system shouldn't work for me. It does exactly what it claims! Thank you for taking the time to read my review. br>br>Recommended Five Starbr>br> Please click on the Helpful Icon if you found this review to be useful. This machine is disappointing because it does not include a CD/DVD drive, so if you prefer to read books, this is not the machine for you
3/5

You'll need to buy an external drive if you want to listen to a CD or watch a movie on your computer, and then you'll need to find a free or paid app that will let you play a DVD, as media player no longer does so. br>br>On a positive note, the computer worked right out of the box. It's quick, but it's a little short on storage space. As a result, you'll need to purchase external storage as well as a docking station. I wouldn't have bought this machine if these details had been clearly stated in the description.

a FAKE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION - NO WARRANTY IS PROVIDED! The original Dell computer had a 1 TB SATA drive, but this re-imagined version has a 2 TB SATA drive
3/5

The seller replaced it with an SSD drive, voiding the warranty and preventing Dell from providing support. This product is also covered by a one-year warranty from Dell, not the two-year warranty claimed by the seller. So, in a nutshell, this computer comes with no warranty.
