Four stars when it comes to the lack of an instruction sheet or at least a URL where the instructions might be found. Took advantage of it to upgrade the SSD on a 2013 imac. Since there is a layer of foam on top of the original adhesive, once you get it started (I used a guitar pick to open one corner a bit), the little wheel cuts through it pretty easily without using your top and sides are finished, and the two connectors are separated, fold down your screen and cut or peel off the bottom strip. It's better to leave a note of instructions. It is easy to use and very handy to have an opening tool. It takes a few tries to cut away the corner contour of the iMac, but overall it is not hard. It is possible to pull open the non-flickering side of each strip using two white tabs I like sticky paper because it's very useful. A few things need to be fixed The two pull tabs on the bottom strips cannot be separated, so the non-separated tab will have to be cut out There is a sticky side on both of the tabs, so any tab can be pulled off up front. In regards to the adhesive strips, some of them are quite easy to figure out where they go, while the two at the bottom can be a little bit challenging. At the end, I left the one side that has white tabs in place together with the rest. As there is only one chance to do it right, closing the case can be a bit tricky. The bottom was closed just fine, but I missed by less than 1/16 of an inch. In the next step, you need to gently push the screen after removing all the tabs from the remaining strips.

When you upgrade your SSD, this kit works very well to replace the damaged glass. Remember to leave an opening for the microphone, and don't be like me and forget to do so. As it turns out, we purchased an external USB mic that worked much better than the built-in one. However, the instructions warned against covering the built-in mic, which I failed to do. You can 100% blame me for that. There are no flaws in the product.

There is a decent guide provided by iFixit, however these strips should have their own instructions given that they were not at all identical to the one in the guide. Despite the reversed placement, they both adhered fine, but I think they added a bit of confusion to the process. I found the plastic wheel tool to be incredibly helpful, as a friend tried to use a spudger and his screen broke. If the seam is still not completely free, roll a tool constantly along the edge till it is You should also consider investing in suction cups so the screen is able to be lifted up level. As of now, the new adhesive strips continue to hold well, I do not detect any gaps and everything appears to be working properly. Using these was a very scary process, but if you are opening up your 2012 user account then you will need them The iMac will be onward.

This was given to me because I'm going to open up my 2012. The tool that came with this product was good for cutting through the old adhesive, and came with extra cutting wheels (a good feature). I was able to replace the old (and slow) hard drive with a Samsung 860 Evo SSD (a great product). After you are finished fixing the screen, be sure to check everything is working properly before sealing the screen back in, or else you will be unable to open it again (without high risk of breaking.
