The bracket is more likely to break trying to get it off the old cable, so I recommend spending the 5 bucks or so more and getting this one instead. I did not have any problems installing it, and it appears to be of similar or better quality than the Apple original.

There is still hope for my MacBook Pro! My HD died first in the middle of the year An Apple MacBook Pro 2012 is shown. However, the Mac began upsetting me again two months later and the HD was fine this time - so I did not replace the disk. Though, the symptoms were nearly the same, which led us to conclude that it was the ribbon cable to blame. After crossing my fingers, I ordered this one. I was able to solve the problem! I'm happy to report that my laptop is working perfectly all for a lot less than you'd have to pay Apple! My 7 year old Mac is zippy fast now that I have a new cable and a SSD as well as all the additional RAM I added a year ago! *EDIT Then, you should- The following will be up by A half year after I bought it, it's still working fine. However, something was wrong with my 2012 Macbook Pro. It recognized the hard drive (which is an SSD) but did not work. While it took a very long time to install Mac OS, it then did not properly boot since it did not finish the installation. This happened twice to me. I suspected it was a flaky HDD cable, not uncommon in some Macbook Pro models as the bottom case can press down and affect the internal HDD cable, which can lead to similar issues as described above. In order to replace the cable, I bought this HD cable. As the cable part is tiny, I find it easier to get into the old bracket when purchased with COMPLETE ASSEMBLY WITH SLEEP BRACKET already attached (this style). This is worth the additional 4 dollars. Using this cable, I replaced the old. A piece of black electrical tape covered the cable on top as well as reinforced / protected it. Installation was successful, and the PC booted up as soon as it was installed. Getting the Sunmall HDD cable before convinced me it was a bad cable. I knew it was reliable so I got it again. This is highly recommended. AVOID GETTING THE WRONG ONE FOR YOUR MODEL/YEAR EXCEPT THE EXISTING ONE! In their statement, they make that very clear.

My first cable I bought some 5 months ago just gave out. This one works almost as good. In this case, I purchased one that has the bracket. It's so easy to mount, and after I finished installing it, my machine did boot up much more quickly and cleaner than it did after the installation of the first replacement HD cable. Although I appreciate the need to address the pandemic, I do not appreciate our having to pay full price for $13 months of prime to receive week out delivery each time. Don't waste time talking with Amazon's "customer service" representatives about receiving any type of adjustment for this issue. Their advice basically was to take my complaint to the appropriate department. I responded to them that the competition doesn't mind their "intelligent" way of thinking. I'll see you next time, Prime. Having you in my life is nice.

She then bought a new one and gave me the old one for play. The drive was reset to factory settings, ram was added, and an SSD was installed. I installed the SSD and removed the hard drive and was able to boot the system when the SSD was connected via USB, but not when I removed the hard drive. Rather than getting a file folder bouncing, there would be a white screen. Many times I tried to fix it, but failed. Finally, I replaced the drive cable and it worked! I really like how it works.

In many cases, this cable assembly is a necessary repair on the 2012 13" MacBook Pro. When I just installed my SSD on my 2012 MacBook, it wouldn't read it even though I knew it would work. It looks like some people have experienced the same issue, and the problem with the flex cable is not unusual. Worked like a charm after installing in less than 5 minutes. I also had a problem with the old HD running extremely slowly. Fix it in no time! Every other method I had tried had not worked. Caches can't be reset and all of that was pointless.

A question mark icon appeared in my question mark folder on my MacBook pro Mid 2012. I ordered this cable as a last resort as I had already tried so many other remedies. My ignorance of what I needed to do resulted in an installation time of about 30 minutes. Because there are no instructions included with the software, I viewed a youtube video to complete the installation. As soon as I replaced the cable, both of my computers started up (slowly) and all my files were loaded. I saved 1500 dollars by using this little cable and not having to throw out my Mac.
