To charge, the old charging plug needed to be pushed at an angle. Initially, I thought this replacement charging port was bad due to a battery voltage error, but when my son plugged in the other Dell charger we have, it worked fine, so the one Dell charger we have was apparently also bad. I placed another order for a new charger. The charging port is well-fitting and functional. Because I've disassembled a lot of laptops in my life, I'm used to doing these types of repairs, and it only took me about ten minutes. Fixing and reassembling took 15 minutes. The fix is very simple. If you're not sure how to disassemble a laptop, there are plenty of videos on YouTube that will show you how.

Although the listing claims that this part is compatible with the Dell Latitude 3490, the mounting screw flange on my 3490 is about 1 inch shorter than the one on the listing. Because the power adapter is smaller than 5 mm, the computer will not recognize it and the battery will not be charged. When the laptop bottom case is removed, it works fine, but when the computer is fully assembled, it does not.
